Must See: I Met the Walrus

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, he took the tape and made it into this fabulous film in which he advocates non violent protest and peaceful revolution:

And if you haven't seen it, you absolutely must see the documentary The U.S. vs. John Lennon. You can watch it online for free.

Peace.

Here in Cincinnati ...

A sales tax to build a new jail was defeated by an unholy coalition. The NAACP teamed up with Coast, a far right freedom loving group, to defeat the sales tax.

The far left wants the same thing we do. Freedom.

Their answers are misguided, but they exist.

They will be easy to convert. They seek out truth.

They just need to be shown the right answers.

Remember, we both seek freedom, which is very important.

Most of the moveon.org types are slowly awakening.

Very disappointing.

I am shocked to read these comments! Has anybody here listened to the song, "Imagine"? It's literally Marxism set to music. John Lennon may not be Joseph Stalin or Mao Zedong, but he still supports the same ideas that the true Ron Paul movement is fighting against! All of this business of "Fighting for the people" and "Bringing down the man" is all the same message that early communist propaganda used. The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend.

I invite you to watch the movie, the US vs. John Lennon. I think you'll see things a little differently.

Sorry. This may seem a bit

Sorry. This may seem a bit stubborn, but I'd much rather develop an opinion on Lennon from a piece that he wrote himself as opposed to a second-hand account that was put together 30-some-odd years after he died. I don't care if the message of the movie is good. I just don't think that we should be putting such a man in a good light, especially when dealing with his political beliefs.

Maybe someday we'll "Give

Maybe someday we'll "Give Peace a Chance"

nice post

great documentary, MUST SEE

U.S. vs. John Lennon = great documentary

We really need a peace movement now like the one back in the days of the unconstitutional, undeclared "war" in Vietnam.

After having watched

the movie US vs JL, which I thought was so good and have since purchased the the official DVD to show to my kids, his message then was as powerful as it is now.
The movie sure shows how a possible political reason was behind his early demise.

I've always wondered how

I've always wondered how gems like this can remain hidden for so long. I know some DPers will call him a socialist, but the man had so much wisdom it was scary. After hearing people like John Lennon talk I always feel like there's a great void of independent thinkers in today's world. But Lennon answered that with: change starts with yourself (essentially). Ghandi is gone, MLK is gone, Lennon is gone, Kennedy is gone, but all great men and women who've left us also left behind their message. In that sense the void isn't as daunting.

Wage peace. Love, humor, empathy for others changes people's minds and opens them up. I think that is what they mean by winning. Because imagine if the citizens of the world were on the same page, but all govts were on another. It would be difficult if not impossible for them to wage war, and they would quickly become insignificant. As Lennon said, that's why they pull your beard and flick your face, they want you to become violent because that's the only way they know how to handle you. Sometimes I think that's why they have no problem airing those police beating videos, they're trying to get us to blow someone's head off over it so they can have an excuse to crack down for real. I think it's an important lesson, but I still feel like there needs to be a line somewhere. I don't know if I can allow myself to be hauled off to some camp if that were to happen. I look forward to reading other people's opinions on this...
