North Ossetia hospitals admit 528 people since Tskhinvali assaul

.MOSCOW, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - A total of 528 refugees from South Ossetia have received medical assistance in North Ossetia since Georgia's attack on the rebel republic's capital on August 8, the Russian health ministry said on Friday.

As a result of Georgia's military offensive last Friday, South Ossetia's capital, Tskhinvali, was largely destroyed. According to Russian figures, around 1,600 civilians were killed and over 34,000 fled the region, mostly to the neighboring Russian republic of North Ossetia.

"We have admitted 84 people, including 22 wounded, 55 ill people and 4 pregnant women, in the last 24 hours alone," the ministry quoted medical official Vladimir Uiba as saying.

He also said 16 people had been transferred from Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia, to federal hospitals.

Valery Shabanov, a chief doctor at a field hospital in the South Ossetia capital, said 90 people had been admitted to hospital over the last 24 hours in Tskhinvali, and that 19 of them had undergone surgery.

At lunch today

I went to a bar-and-grille-type restaurant for lunch today. The guy sitting next to me at the bar was having a conversation with his friend, and the topic of the Georgia-Russia conflict came up. He said he knew someone that thought Russia had invaded GEORGIA...as in college football-loving UGA Bull-Dawg / Georgia On My Mind / Masters Golf Tournament - Gaw-gia.

I just shook my head and laughed.

Condi is over there now

demanding that Russia withdraw all troops immediately after the cease-fire agreement that Georgia just signed. Now, that everything has been stirred up we will have to see if Russia is in a hurry to leave. Pawns in the game, played against each other, and then the people of these countries are the ones to suffer.

everything is so convoluted, no wonder

people are discouraged by politics.

Is US Blocking Video Feeds From Pro-Russian Sources

I've tried to view many videos of the bombing damage done by the Georgians, from Russian sources, but they all seems to be blocked. Is it possible for these to be blocked in the U.S.?

What a surprise...

After that first Google search that I did for Ron Paul, I have learned a lot of things and believe that the U.S. is capable of doing anything they want to supress information to it's Citizens.

"We dare not forget that we are heirs of that first revolution" -JFK

You'd think in this age, there'd be footage all over the net

Even Ogrish got censored into propagada.

cyndezu-u are awesome

thank you for this piece as i have been trying to convince everyone i know and of course this way it is so much easier. i was furious that we would be lied into another POS war, but the tide is turning!! i never liked china and russia so much in my life! thanks again

Why Russia’s response to Georgia was right

Last Friday, after the world’s leaders had arrived at the Beijing Olympics, Georgian troops launched an all-out assault on the region of South Ossetia, which has enjoyed de facto independence for more than 16 years. The majority of the region’s population are Russian citizens. Under the terms of the 1992 agreement to which Georgia is a party, they are afforded protection by a small number of Russian peacekeeping soldiers. The ground and air attack resulted in the killing of peacekeepers and the death of an estimated 1,600 civilians, creating a humanitarian disaster and leading to an exodus of 30,000 refugees. The Georgian regime refused to allow a humanitarian corridor to be established and bombarded a humanitarian convoy. There is also clear evidence of atrocities having been committed – so serious and systematic that they constitute acts of genocide.

Please read to the bottom of the article.

"The writer is minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation".

It's always good to hear the other side, but always be careful.

This article is biased.

It actually tries to use the horrors of past US military intevention to justify the horrors of the Russian invasion...yet strangely it condemns Georgian's horrific attacks. But really, all of this really just reinforces the need for the US to return to a non-intervention foreign policy.

Paper Ballots,Hand Counted At The Precinct Or Bust

Mikheil Saakashvili:

"On August 7, after days of shooting incidents in the South Ossetian conflict zone, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili made a speech in which he said that he had given the Georgian villagers orders not to fire, that he wanted to offer South Ossetia 'unlimited autonomy' within the Georgian state, with Russia to be a guarantor of the arrangement.

"Both sides said they were discussing a meeting the next day to discuss how to defuse the clashes.

"That evening, however, Saakashvili went for the military option. The Georgian military launched a massive artillery attack on Tskhinvali, followed the next day by a ground assault involving tanks.

"This was a city with no pure military targets, full of civilians who had been given no warning and were expecting peace talks at any moment."

Founding foreign principle: non-intervention

This is a Ron Paul forum...right?

We do believe in a non-intervening foreign policy...right.

Let's become energy-independent and sell that technology to others. It would save many more lives than selling military intervention for oil!

Your point is ?

How does this have anything to do with the conflict. Last time I checked it was Georgia VS Russia. I think most people here are lining up with the Russians because Georgia is wanting us to clean up there mess for them. Are you not able to read. Emotions will get you nothing. Georgia is clamoring for US intervention. Therefore many US citizens will analyze this situation for what it is and ask why? Atleast people who care.

of course you would...

that is why you got kicked out and now live as an Aussie...heh

christopher X

I would appreciate you not crapping all over my post like a troll.
Thanks.

whatever...

i will not let you make a 'hero' out of Mikhail. he was born and raised in Russia, a Godless country that has no morals except to destroy the u.S. by any means. the means being used is the 2 step forward one step back method like they used in the Cuban missile crisis. the USSR wanted a military base in Cuba, so they built a military base in Cuba and then brought in the missiles. Kennedy went nuts over the missiles, sent a blockade and threatened WW3 over it. the USSR then pulled their missiles, supposedly ending the crisis. just one thing was forgotten...

Russia got what they really wanted...a military base in Cuba. Russia is trying to do that with our society too. and our government is helping at every step. in fact all governments of the world are implementing these steps under the guise of 'safety'....and the steps are these 10 planks of Communism...

see them here...
http://www.libertyzone.co...

"global warming/environmental movement/Al Gore" are helping to implement these planks...to "save the planet" of course...that is what is "crap-py"...Al Gore and our government are the biggest trolls their are...

Ok. so you don't like where he was born...

ignorance is bliss, Enjoy!

where does not matter...

but the atheistic/Marxist system DOES matter.

Don't mind chris x. He's got PMS.
