According to recent news reports, a top observatory that has been measuring sun spot activity predicts that global temperatures will drop by two degrees over the next 20 years as solar activity slows and the planet drastically cools down. They suggest this could potentially herald the onset of a new ice age. Following the end of the sun’s most active period in over 11,000 years, the last 10 years have displayed a clear cooling trend as temperatures post-1998 leveled out and are now decreasing.
Earlier this year, John Coleman, the founder of The Weather Channel, stated that manmade global warming is “the greatest scam in history,” adding, “I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a scam.” Coleman said the theory of global warming is based on fraudulent science.
“New Jersey’s tax and regulatory climate is already chasing jobs from this state left and right and these new regulations will make matters worse,” Doherty said. “Rather than conforming our policies to questionable scientific theories, we should be looking at the concrete economic indicators that show our state’s economy is in trouble. And we should be taking steps to help people who are losing jobs and being forced out of their homes by this state’s anti-economic growth agenda – not making matters worse.”

An expert from the National Autonomous University of Mexico predicted that in about ten years the Earth will enter a "little ice age" which will last from 60 to 80 years and may be caused by the decrease in solar activity.

Just a few weeks ago, predictions of Arctic ice collapse were buzzing all over the internet. Some scientists were predicting

The last two or three years here in the Twin Cities have been the coldest and snowiest I've seen in recent years. During spring this year, for about a month (march/april I think), the weather was freaking out. It would be warm and sunny for about 4 days, then it would cool off and rain for a day, then it would snow, then it would rain, and then back to sun.

Here in NJ this years growing season, as far as I know, started late and will be ending early - because of colder temperatures.
My electricity bill shows the data for the current billing period and the billing period from the same time 1 year ago. It shows average daily temperatures and the amount of energy used. This year's average daily temperatures are a few degrees lower than last years, every month as I recall.
From that, it seems we are going through some sort of recent cooling period.

What kind of evidence do debunkers have?
This is the evidence that convinces me we have contributed to global warming and we have serious problems;
Scientists at the Mauna Loa observatory in Hawaii say that CO2 levels in the atmosphere now stand at 387 parts per million (ppm), up almost 40% since the industrial revolution and the highest for at least the last 650,000 years.
The figures, published by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on its website, also confirm that carbon dioxide, the chief greenhouse gas, is accumulating in the atmosphere faster than expected.
The annual mean growth rate for 2007 was 2.14ppm – the fourth year in the past six to see an annual rise greater than 2ppm.
From 1970 to 2000, the concentration rose by about 1.5ppm each year, but since 2000 the annual rise has leapt to an average 2.1ppm.
I remember a statistic from "An Inconvenient Truth" which was the rate of acceleration of CO2 into the air is 20 times greater than in the past 650,000 years. That really alarmed me.
The human contribution
The human contribution towards CO2 is 3%, which is LESS than the margin of error in calculating the total volume of CO2 in the atmosphere!
Problems
The problem is that even with the regard to CO2 levels rising, we have no solid evidence that these rising CO2 levels effect temperature in any meaningful way. Looking at the graphs posted below, you'll notice temperature rises BEFORE the CO2 levels.
The chief greenhouse gas, btw, isn't CO2. CO2 is what is talked about the most, but really the heat retention effects of Methane are far more brutal than CO2.
Looking at CO2 production as the reason for statistically higher temperatures, we then have to reason out not only the Medieval Warming Period, but also the time occurring before the Little Ice Age. If CO2 is really the culprit, what caused the warm temperatures in these times?
What we have currently is a correlation of sorts, and not even a strong one at that. When we take into count that GM, who is heavily invested in "green technologies", has more lobbiests on capital hill than the big 3 oil companies combined, the picture gets a bit clearer.
Global Warming is a HUGE industry. It brings in big profits when people are willing to pay more for a product when it can be labeled "green."
When quoting statistics in "An Inconvenient Truth" remember that they're purposely skewing facts to lead you to the point they're trying to make. Remember that we know jack and crap about what was going on year to year 650,000 years ago, and take what they're saying with a grain of salt. We're talking a time when there is absolutely zero industry, and that any amount of CO2 added to the air at all will produce a huge multiplier.
As a mixer of high accuracy toxic gases, I can tell you out right that CO2 is the least of your worries. There is some nasty nasty crap being pumped into the air daily, and warming from CO2 is the LEAST you should be worried about.
Just relooked at your post here, lets do some math btw. PPM amounts can worry people if they don't know what they're dealing with. Lets also discount the fact that usually the centers where they take air measurements are in industrialized areas, and are thusly more likely to have high PPM measurements.
2.1 PPM = 0.00021%
Considering the poor heat retention properties of carbon dioxide, and the fact that it would thusly take about 50 years to change the amount of CO2 in the air from .03% to .04%, we're looking at a long long time before a significant amount is changed, especially when looking at the difference between CO2 and a gas like Methane or even water vapor.
Lets also look at the fact that global warming is actually a POSITIVE change, unless you own a ski lodge. There is a reason "warming" periods are considered good growing times.

Yes, it does look like CO2 is lagging tempurature. I do not know what to think of this. I had not noticed that before. But the chart is still a bit alarming in the regards that the CO2 has risen into these uncharted levels since the industrial revolution.
If CO2 increased and average of 1.5ppm per year from 1970-2000 and an average of 2.1ppm from 2000-2007 than this can be easily plotted. I did this and discovered that by the year 2014 it will be increasing by 3.8ppm per year with an average annual increase of 2.95ppm with a total atmospheric level of 404 ppm. Without logrythmic paper it is hard to chart much further but this would already be off of the wiki derived chart.
Records from the arctic ice cores actually go back nearly a million years with the same results but these are not readily published.

Everyone loves having conflicting views on issues. No reason to go in for the kill with the personal attacks, heck you haven't slaughtered the English language yet, so I can't think of any reason to bring out the guns.
While it is a complete pain in the ass to chart, lets look at it this way. No matter what the amount of CO2 is pumped into the air, we still have no definitive evidence of causation as opposed to correlation. The theory I have at the top of my head (it's a bit late for me to go pulling up the research, but I'll do it tomorrow if I've got time) is that as global temperature rises, the PPM ratio of CO2 rises. If we look at rising CO2 levels as an EFFECT of global warming and not a cause, the situation changes drastically, and the graph makes a bit more sense. Still slams into a bind with the medieval warming period however.
Bottom line, the whole situation stinks. As far as I'm concerned, rising CO2 levels really aren't a threat to our existence. The levels aren't anywhere near what it would take to cause an adverse effect on the human body, and without CO2 as the direct cause of global warming, that's really all we have to fear.
With CO2 levels as the cause, again we run smack into the Medieval Warming Period, not to mention the fact that we're STILL coming out of the Little Ice Age, from what I remember.
I always ask myself, "Who's making the bucks?" For global warming, this fear mongering seems to lead straight back to them. The fact that scientists on both sides of the board disagree, and that only one is being listened to really irks me. Science, which used to be the holy realm of Truth, is now being dominated by, "How do I come up with results that will continue funding from big daddy bucks?" Scientists now have to research foregone conclusions posed to them by huge corporations. "Here is your answer, find out how to get there!"
All in all, I'd rate the massive fear mongering about global warming leading to drastic controls like the Kyoto Treaty being FAR more dangerous to human society as a whole than I would rising CO2 levels.

The only thing I know about the little ice age is from a History Channel documentary. The History Channel is about as reliable as the MSM though. Appearantly a massive series of volcanic eruptions caused it.
I totally agree with you as far as if the recent warm tempuratures are not sufficeintly linked to the high concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere. Also, in regards to nearly all other issues, I know the "powers that be", with thier grand illusion, are not to be trusted. As posted above, now that GWB admits we are contributing to climate change, I have my doughts too.

As for personal evidence my home town, in the mountains of Colorado, most of the pine trees and many of the aspens have died in the last two or three years from a beetle that would be destroyed with the colder winters. It is really obvious the climate is warmer to me. Also, now at my home in Florida, I had 4 huricanes hit my home in one season. Also Lake Ochochobee has been much lower than ever this year. My friends living near Killimanjaro will have to find a new home in a year or two also when the glacier there melts.
This topic, out of any we discuss here at DP should be able to be proven or disproven by science. But to the contrary, it seems to be one with much emotion and blind opinion attached to it. It is strangely a left vs right type of issue. It is like the abortion issue. Should not science tell us when a fetus is considered to be human life? Before I heard Dr. Paul, who is an expert with scientific evidence, talk about this I had no opinion on the subject. I was waiting for some scientic decision on the matter.
Another question that could be relevant is "Is someone making a buck hiding this issue?"

I'm not an expert on this, but you have mentioned nothing about the relation between CO2 and warming, and this is why the evidence you find convincing is not convincing to me. It seems to me that the relation between increased levels of CO2 and warming is complicated and not well understood at best. The whole theory is based on extrapolation of various supposed correlations between increased CO2 levels and warming over vast stretches of prehistoric time. This extrapolation is based on numerous assumptions, and I'm not prepared to accept that any historical conclusions it asserts are correct. Even more than that, it is clear that if they are correct, then human activity was not involved, so that (having established no relation) there is no reason to believe that the current increased CO2 levels have much if anything to do with warming.
Can you explain to me why you think the current increased CO2 levels are convincing to you (when they may very well have little or nothing to do with temperature)?
What I am an expert on is the propaganda produced in academia, and I can assure you that there are many scientists who lend their voices to the alarmist cry of global warming and have no better understanding of it than I do. I can also tell you why they do that. It is because of their social and political agenda.
