Discussion: How to take back America for REAL
A lot of us are upset about where things are going and are spending a lot of time talking about who to vote for, what event to attend, or how to spend our money. I've heard everything from Obama this, McCain that, slide over to try Barr, or stick with Ron Paul no matter.
The reality is that none of these matter in the grand scope of things.
For instance, if you aren't a delegate then your "vote" is mostly trivial (and this is assuming there is no cheating like DIEBOLD/Sequoia). Gore in 2000 was a classic example of how the popular vote does not and will not decide who is the President of the United States.
We need to start moving away from being an event-based campaign like with the Revolution March, the Presidential run, Moneybombs, and yes, even the Freedom Rally in Minneapolis. These all have a place in the Revolution, but they shouldn't be the centerpiece. The only way to actually make a difference and win this thing is with a much more subtle, but dedicated day-to-day effort.
To illustrate this imagine the Olympics. You can't just take a random guy off the street who really wants to win and give him a million dollars. Pretty obvious, right? There are countless hours of training and growing between that one moment at the Olympics and the day they decided to get serious about making a difference. Expecting anything different is just setting yourself up for disappointment and failure.
Now to be more relevant to the matter at hand, consider the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign...
What action provided the best results?
It wasn't the blimp...
It wasn't some fancy TV Ad...
It wasn't a bunch of signs on the freeway or a vid going viral on youtube...
Nor was it DIGG or any of those polls voted up/spammed...
The most results were achieved from the Precinct Leadership Program where people like you and I went out and canvased our local neighborhoods and beyond.
The problem is a few days of canvasing for once in your life isn't enough to get the results we want. So what are we going to do now -- keep putting on more and more shows hoping to attract attention? We will never have the money or the star power to outdo Obama or any of the elite's celebrities.
Our strength is the message and the people who are willing to stand up for it are our heroes. That's the only thing that is going to turn this around, but like any would-be Olympian, all the passion or fervor in the world isn't going to let you get 300lb over your head on the first try.
What we need are people who are dedicated to going out, door-to-door/face-to-face. and meeting their fellow Americans to inform them of their rights and duties as patriotic citizens. We need people who aren't afraid to leave behind their keyboards or face rejection and ridicule by the public without anger. People that have the patience to continue on despite the lack of instant gratification in a rally-like event or march.
It's time for us to put our wallets away and realize the real value we own is our humanity. Your ability to meet people face-to-face and spread the freedom message is infinitely more valuable than anything on the internet or all of the gold and silver on the planet. All it takes is enough people who are willing to invest the time and not give up. Is this country worth saving? Are your kids/grand kids worth saving?
You are an athlete for the Republic and you just decided to get serious for the Olympic Revolution. The goal is a lifetime of freedom and to that end you will pledge yourself towards educating the people around you bit-by-bit, everyday, for the rest of your life.
Now, I know a lot of you have your own ideas on how to do your part in the Revolution and I do not disagree with them. What matters most is that you are getting out in your PHYSICAL community and speaking directly to the people among you -- especially to the ignorant or the ones who don't believe anything you say. We don't have to convert the masses to succeed, we just need REAL/down-to-Earth people that are known in their communities. Like signposts or lighthouses for liberty, we need people that point to the Constitution regardless of the circumstance or outcome.
Even if you can only set aside a few hours total a week, if you could spend those few hours letting the people know about the Constitution that translates into at least a 100+ hours of educating a year. Don't make it about Obama/McCain, Republican/Democrat, Independent/Main Stream -- don't even make it about Ron Paul. Focus on the Law of the Land . The one thing that unites all of us Americans is our willingness to live together under the Constitution for mutual prosperity. It's what guarantees us the freedom to be who we are without unnecessary intervention and let's us enjoy life.
The Constitution covers nearly everything, but you don't have to in one day. You could easily just print out the particular amendment you want to mention and make it your goal to meet at least 5 neighbors you don't usually talk to about these things. Try to exchange phone numbers, email, etc so you can setup further meetings and talks. It's always good to know your neighbors whether you like them or not and in an emergency that is often all you have.
The people need to understand the concept of accountability of government. A lot Americans are angry and depressed about the way things are and they clearly want change. However they feel helpless to do anything. Telling them to vote Ron Paul/Barr/McCain/Obama or that 9/11 was an inside job isn't going to change that helplessness. What will is letting them know that We the People is more than just an opening line, but the very foundation America was built on. Yet George W. Bush was right when he said the Constitution was "just a piece of paper". Laws only become valid when enough people demand they are followed. Educating the people of these laws and how they work is the only way to create a lawful society that successfully functions.
I'd love to see people organize in groups and get the meet-ups involved in something weekly like this and have fun with it. Imagine for a moment if when people got up on Sunday or Saturday they wouldn't be dreading the Mormon's or the Jehovah Witnesses, but instead at their door was a group of Constitution loving Americans (fresh with facts and news on the War on Liberty).
Speaking for myself, I already have some experience with this. When Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses come to my door and ask me if I want the love of God and Jesus I tell them, "Wouldn't God and Jesus want us to work together and understand the laws we live under?" When they ask me about wanting the joy of fellowship I ask, "What about the joy of being an American?" And when they hand me a copy of the Watchtower, I make sure to had them a pocket Constitution.
Remember, the government succeeds by dividing us. The only reason our society is so corrupt is because the majority of us are too busy living in our tiny bubbles and looking out for a select few. It's time to put that all aside and to make a stand for not only liberty, but also for justice.
Ron Paul's not going to do it and the Campaign for Liberty isn't going to do it either. It's going to take a grassroots effort where every blade among us works together in a sustained effort to lay down the seeds and fill in the patches.

James Goodin I agree with the precinct plan it is my own and I have been fighting very hard for PCO's here in my county but the the preparation for the support of our delegates work at the RNC is the paramount thing until the RNC and this program, dvds4delegates, has suffered neglect of the people the 2nd dvds must go to production on monday and all of $$$ is not there. This education campaign will let all the delegates and alternates know what we the alt's and del's are after i.e. a brokered convention. It means we will not have to teach them Greek before we can try to change their minds. Please help in getting all the $$ in.
The strategies for the support of our dalegates is 2 fold:
1. Dvds4 delegates project (go to dvds4delegates.com and see)
2. take as many PCO positions as possible to show our delegates have a broad and broadening base of support for their ideas.
Since the R party is fighting and spending a lot of time and $$ to defeat us means the next phase after the RNC is to go back into the precincts. I have thought of a few strategies as to how this might be done more quickly and effectively(a lot of hard work for sure). Contact me at goodchoice7@msn.com
If I may add...
Go door to door in large numbers. This visual counters the narrative that we are pushing a minority viewpoint. No one likes to be in the minority. Notice how fast Huck & Romney fans all took to McCain, once they learned where the majority was, they flocked there.
This is why "early polling" results are so dangerous. What happened with Rudy was rare, very rare. Most of the time, when the public "learns" that the "public" likes issue A or politician C, they flock there. Its an uphill battle for the rest of the field.
Starting with the Constitution is a great place, perhaps the only place. It has favor in people's minds. Couple that pre-favor towards the Constitution with the visual of a half dozen or more Americans outside your door who "Think it important that we hold our elective officials to it" will deepen that bias.
Then when a RP republican or RP democrat comes along and declares, "Well I am not for that "nice sounding" proposal, I am for standing by the Constitution", the voting public will vote the Constitution.

Belief that electing the right president would solve any of our problems is how we got into trouble in the first place.
We will have more and better choices at the federal level if we choose better locally, and yet, how many of us really check to see who it is we're electing? We need better judges at all levels, too.
I know Libertarian elected officials have actually closed down the boards they sat on, and returned the tax money to taxpayers. Think how much easier it would be if there were Democrats and Republicans willing to do the same, and if voters rewarded them by electing them to higher office.
You are so right.

I agree, great message.
We are spending too much time preaching to the choir.
All of the rallies and organizations are good for motivation but I doubt they are responsible for drawing a great number of NEW recruits.
I believe confidence and lack of experience are the reasons people are not recruiting one-on- one.
I believe C4L should travel the country and hold meetings in major cities to teach members "sales and marketing techniques", role playing, speaking, organizing, etc. Offer a subtle, no pressure donation box at the entrance door but advertise the meeting as free.
C4L should have some type of arrangement with local printers, so that C4L members could pick up a stack of newspapers to distribute to coffee shops, libraries, fast food places, restaurants, factories, laundromats, apartment buildings, doctor's offices, college campus', etc.' Give it an "underground" rEVOLution feel to attract young people and yet cater to older, true conservatives.
Maybe the "mini" newspaper could be a partial "teaser" to the full issue as a way to peak interest. In order to get "the rest of the story" people would have to subscribe and thereby generate income. Keep it reasonable (even at a loss to start).
Liberty minded local business' could have an insert to fray prices. We should have a list of business names from past contributions. Offer the space to potential advertisers.
I am not comfortable knocking on, nor answering my door to a stranger. Although, on a daily basis I will talk to anyone about freedom...cashiers, family, friends, waitress', neighbors, standing in line, etc.
As a patriot I would be thrilled to do a monthly pick-up, inserts, and the distribution of Liberty papers.
I am thinking about taking some writing, speech and art classes just in case no one else wants to pick up the ball and run with it.
PS: I would not recommend our present C4L logo for the "underground" newspaper,.it is too "old fogey" (and I am a middle-aged old fogey).. I believe the font should give a modern, progressive, rEVOLution feel.
Comments please.
Great piece
I worked my butt off for a long time on this campaign and Im not leaving. We are fighting a just cause and no war was won in a day.
The way I see it, this is our learning curve. Those million people that voted for Dr. Paul will be back. I have absolute faith in the American people. No matter who we get for the next four years, its going to suck ass. That will be four years of networking and gaining experience.
The presidential bid is the only thing that gets people active and motivated. Once that time comes again (in two years...) our grassroots will set a blaze across our nation, side step the media.. and win the White House. They ignored us this time. It will not happen again.
Wonderful
At last you can see the tide turning, people are realizing that the flag waving, sign tossing and rallys are a lot of fun but really were more for us the participants than the public that is sleeping. people are starting to see that it is going to be up to us to talk talk talk to our neighbors friends and even strangers as at the grocery stores while waiting in line.. I have found this the best ground to open up a dialog about costs, reasons and solutions.. Thanks for writing this message.

Bravo!
I love to engage people ... find out their perceptions of "reality" and try to straighten out their media induced "thinking" which is so muddy, they often feel hopeless and helpless
Causing confusion and HOPELESSNESS is a MAIN GOAL of media BS.
Giving people hope (a plan of action) is very liberating. But we're dealing with people who have many looming personal problems besides. To gain their trust, we need to be ready to lend a helping hand to some of the more desperate (and I don't necessarily mean forking over cash). So, while we are evangelizing for liberty, we are also truly recreating the kind of society we want for our children and grandchildren.
We are now at a point where many people can't even recognize a bald-faced lie when you put it before their eyes in black and white. Talking about the Constitution will not be enough ... they need to experience the love of their fellow man. It will be a new experience for many of them. The nanny state robbed us of the need to help each other. If we help each other, we can negate the need for the nanny state.
Great post. This is why
Great post. This is why walkforfreedom is doing so well. They have a presentation every night and are urging people to keep meeting. Soon their presentation will be on DVD, and, if people want to, I am sure they can adapt an original video to their area and hold meetings there, or just use the one they have made (have not seen it but have heard it is really good). I really never understood why meetup groups shut down. (There were none in my town, anyway).
that's the spirit
walkforfreedom! should be happening all across the country everywhere

some steps to take...
1. pay off all of your debt, including your mortgage
2. use gold and silver and barter as much as you can
3. reuse, recycle as much as you can - everything, get creative
4. get involved in local politics, somehow, any way
5. educate the masses, go speak at a high school
6. be prepared. have your beans and bullets stock piled
7. initiate a move towards alternative energies for your home
8. have a diesel vehicle and generator, convert to accept filtered grease
all of these combined and all of us doing this will change the economy, and remember....the market is stronger than any totalitarian regime forced upon us.
peace
Thanks
A wonderful list. I book marked it for future reference.
Olympic comparison.....Great!
It's hard to break through the 'instant gratification' need that our society has cursed us with. We must remind the complainers (we were/are amoung them) that its OUR fault that WE THE PEOPLE have elected and re-elected politicians that are not serving us. I'd like to become more involved in a local meet-up called the C.I.A. (Citizens Information Alliance) that was formed by a Ron Paul delegate candidate. Even if you are more of a follower than a leader, look for the leaders...they are out there and looking for YOU!
.
"The one thing that unites all of us Americans is our willingness to live together under the Constitution for mutual prosperity."
Good read...
bump for grassroots effort...
lets do some actual numbers here.
IN 04 bush won the popular vote by 50 million votes ,and kerry had almost 50 million votes thats 100 million voters out of a population of 300 million. If one million Paul voters got 5 other people to vote for anyone but mcbama look at the difference we could make.
That's right!
Great point!
wow!
very well written.
Thanks
I think it might be a bit long winded and too lecture-like though..
Yes,

I had to take a knap about half way through. I'll try to finish it up tomorrow.
Thanks you! Exactly how we
Thanks you! Exactly how we got 24% of the vote for Ron Paul in Idaho. Also get involved in your local Republican party.
Ironically I am in a county where we only had 5 PCP's run and only two won their races. but we still attended the Central committee meetings and we now have found several allies in the party and I have been made an alternate PCP to the guy who beat me in the race and we still managed 3 delegates and several alternates.
But with other counties and regions na dmore allies in the party we managed to change our state chairman, pass a sound currency plank and take over several central committees
We know what works we just need more of it. People need to step out of their comfort zone a bit and get involved, just do it.

comfort zone
People need to step out of their comfort zone a bit and get involved, just do it.
I totally agree that we must step out of our comfort zone. It's not all about money bombs.
The door-to-door, face-to-face reasonable conversation about issues is what I have found can convert people. For many people it is a slow conversion. Some leading questions that often worked for me:
+ Wow, the price of gas is so high. Is it affecting you?
+ Looks like the gov't is trying to raise property taxes again. I wonder why they don't consider cost reductions?
+ How many more decades do we need to keep troops in Japan? Maybe we could spend that money at home.
I did the sign waving.
I sent money.
I planted yard signs.
I made phone calls.
I wrote letters to editors.
What worked was the personal contact.
