Writes Charles Burris: "On August 21 there will be a national premier of the film, I.O.U.S.A., in 400 theaters across the nation. The film purports to be an entertaining analysis of the serious financial situation facing America regarding its National Debt and fiscal irresponsibility.
"From its trailer and description it sounds suspiciously like a hokey concoction (ala Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth) put together by Louis XVI's financial ministers on the eve of the storming of the Bastille, blaming all our troubles on sunspots or the humble snail darter. However in today's context, it will be angry American peasants from the heartland besieging the Fed in our imperial capitol once they learn who is responsible for their national bankruptcy and grave misfortune to their families.
"The film is being sponsored by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation. Peterson, like his predecessor David Rockefeller, is a billionaire banker and former chairman of the elite Council on Foreign Relations. The film features former Fed chairmen Paul Volcker and Alan Greenspan (both of the CFR), and former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker (now CEO of the Peterson Foundation). There is even the requisite soundbite of Ron Paul, whose 2008 presidential campaign awakened the slumbering public to the monetary catastrophe that is awaiting them due the the deliberate and calculated actions of the elites featured in this film. This duplicitous film is the elite's response to Paul's resounding truth-telling - "Truth is treason in the empire of lies."
"The premier will also feature a live panel discussion after the film of distinguished 'experts' filling in to the suckers who viewed this fiasco what they just saw. They include Peterson, Walker, billionaire investor Warren Buffet, and Cato Institute chairman William 'me too' Niskanen.
"Here's what we won't be hearing from these esteemed gentlemen:
Peterson: "Poor David Rockefeller. His grandfather, Senator Nelson Aldrich, created this monstrosity, the Federal Reserve, that's responsible for all that we saw in the film. And now the ignorant masses will be coming after him in a blind fit of revenge. They'll be coming after all of us like they did the aristocrats in France. We're closing down the Harold Pratt House in New York and moving the CFR headquarters to a secure bunker in Virginia."
Buffet: "You know, I should have earned less and listened more to my dad (the heroic "isolationist" Old Right congressman Howard Buffet) and his good friend, economist Murray Rothbard, when they were talking about the utter folly of the American Empire and the costs it would engender. Didn't Rothbard write a book about the Great Depression?"
Niskanen: "Rothbard? Rothbard? Oh yeah, Rothbard. He was the founder of the Cato Institute, gave it its name. We got rid of him. Always talking about the welfare-warfare state, the American Empire, and abolishing the Fed. No, our problem lies with sunspots and that darned snail darter, as the film pointed out."

My meetUp and a bunch of others around the country are passing out the following text (composed by a woman in our meetUp who went to Mises with Ron Paul) at the exits of this film:
Now that you have seen what a threat to our future our country's enormous debt problem is, what can we do about it?
At the root of most of our economic and financial problems is the Federal Reserve System. The Federal Reserve is a private banking cartel, similar to OPEC in the oil industry. It is no more part of the federal government than Federal Express. The Federal Reserve is the fourth incarnation of a central bank in the U.S., and because it has lasted longer than the previous three central banks, it has done the most damage.
Thomas Jefferson warned: "A private central bank issuing the public currency is a greater menace to the liberties of the people than a standing army," and "We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt." When Congress abdicated its responsibility under Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution "...To coin money, regulate the Value thereof..." by passing the Federal Reserve Act, it opened the door to the debt problem we face today.
As long as our paper currency is not backed by any tangible asset such as gold or silver, and as long as we allow the private Federal Reserve to create fiat money out of thin air for our government to borrow and spend, we will continue to have a burgeoning debt problem.
So the first step we must take to restore America's financial and economic health is to abolish the Federal Reserve and return control of the money supply to the Congress, as specified in the Constitution.
An added benefit of abolishing the Federal Reserve is that we would also be able to get rid of the IRS and federal income tax. Most Americans don't know that the federal income taxes extracted from us go to pay the interest expense our government incurs when it borrows from the Federal Reserve. Not one cent of our tax money goes to fund any of the programs political candidates promise us in order to get elected. It is no coincidence that the Federal Reserve System and the federal income tax came into existence in the same year, 1913.

Root Cause
I work as a test engineer for a technology company. Every time there is a problem with a product, it is the goal of the company that the root-cause of the problem is found/understood and a root-cause solution is implemented. Otherwise you will most likely run into more problems down the road.
This whole I.O.U.S.A movie is about observing the problem just above the root so all americans think they understand why they will be living in a depression these comming years; however, without understanding the root-cause of the issue nobody will be crying for the abolishment of the Federal Resever and/or nobody will object when the politicians sacfrice our soviernty by changing over to a world central bank (modeled after the one that had just screwed us over) in order to "save our economy".
My opionons of course.

A few weeks ago I started looking into this movie, it seems like it's just innocuous information. I couldn't find a single word about the Fed on the website. Probably just talking about over spending, instead of the real cause.
That's why it's so important we use this to our advantage! Handing out DVDs is a great idea! flyers too.
Maybe it will be one more case
of telling some truth but putting the blame in the wrong direction used as one more distraction to the real story. We will see. Wasn't David Walker supposed to be a good guy ringing the alarm when he was U.S Controller, and then he suddenly resigned? So hard knowing who is who and what they are up to anymore.
I will be seeing the film tonight
I will reserve judgment until then. I think, though, that whatever the agenda, it has to help if people at least see the mess that this crooked gov't/financial system has created. Everyone there will ask the question "How could they lie to us when we elected them, say they will enforce the law, claim to have integrity and then do this to our country?"
It will make people think about the problems we face.

Bob Barr and also BJ Lawson recommended to see the movie. One does not need to agree with everything but go with an open mind. It is in any case about the debt. I understand Dr. Paul and also Warren Buffet figures prominently. Buffet is of course a Democrat and part of Obama's team (and an agnostic), but his father Howard Buffet was an "Old Right" politician,a conservative Republican and very much like Dr. Paul.

I watched esoteric Agenda and I didn't think it promoted Buddhism. Even if it did. It would not be monetary in nature to do so. (I am not Buddhist). I can see how Christians may not like it though, and if you view another opinion outside Christianity as a personal agenda then I agree the movie was definitely promoting that. I don't feel untrusting of "Esoteric Agenda" because it is not "blaming" anybody. IOUSA has much more nefarious roots.
