Quiltingsando's (and our) Get Well Quilt for Carol - Pictures!
A week ago Sandy (quiltingsando) proposed to give a small quilt she made to Carol Paul as get well gift.
I think it would be appropriate because if she hates it, it won't take a lot of space. It is small just like this revolution just starting out. It's also one of my first quilts. Just starting out.
Everyone who bumped the original thread got their name put on the card from the Daily Paul family. Well, here is a picture of the lovely quilt!

Below is a picture of all of our names on card - I guess that is the back of the quilt? Update: Sandy just wrote to tell me that the card is actually a pouch and the quilt fits inside it.
It is wonderful. Thank you so much Sandy!

Sandy says:
I wrote the signature names like that so it would look like a real card with a variety of writing and scattered around. The heart on the front is supposed to be xxxx's and ooo's ( hugs and kisses). I don't know if people still put that on cards but that used to be very common to put xxxooo at the end of a letter to a loved one. The red trim that is used is vintage trim given to me years ago by my mother-inlaw. Well, that's about it I worked on it til early morning so it is the best excuse I can give if it doesn't look to good to folks.Regards, Sandy (quiltingsando.)

Thanks again quiltingsando
I can definitely feel the love. Awesome!
I missed it also
but it was a great gesture for everyone involved I'm sure Carol and Ron and the family appreciate it.Very glad to hear positive reports on her health.
How wonderful!
I'm sad that I missed getting in on all this fun.
WOW!!,......................
"Great Job", how long did it take for you to make it?
"Observe the masses, and do the opposite."
I made that quilt
ten years ago. It is a wall hanging I can't remember how long it took but it was exciting for me. I had to fussy cut the striped fabric to get the look I wanted. Thanks, for the compliment. The pouch I made to put the quilt in and everyones names took me a few days. I don't work outside the home so I am fortunate to be able to have the time to work on it.
my name
actually looks exactly like how i write it, when i saw it i could have sworn i picked up a pen and wrote that
Lol
Made me laugh Nick. Maybe, I was channeling you or whatever they call it. Peace
Beautiful
Beautiful work, Sandy! You are our Betsy Ross! Thank you so much for giving us all the means to connect with the Paul family. I didn't expect to be able to see my name, but it jumped right out at me--nice feeling. You gave us all a beautiful gift, not just Mrs. Paul.
Thank you so much Sandy...
for including us in on this beautiful quilt. With so much love attached to it, I believe Our First Lady will cherish it.
"For with God nothing shall be impossible"
It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

But he was not
one of the soldiers from Hesse 'rented' by the Brits to fight the Colonists?
Dr. Paul cured my apathy
No, it was after the Revolution, Cologne.
It was during a civil war. Early 1800s? Ring a bell?

1848 ?!?
You should really check this. If it is true, you can be proud of your ancestry. Perhabs he was one one of those people:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...
It was the last time anything in Germany came close to libertarian principles. After the forces of reaction had crushed the revolution many revolutionaries emigrated to America.
Dr. Paul cured my apathy
Yes, that might be it Cologne.
He was born around 1826. Looks like the family was in the furniture business but was given money (10,000 Guilden?) to go to America because the government wanted him. He was an organist and found work as an organist and music teacher. His family wanted him to return to Germany but he met a Swiss girl in Detroit and... here I am.
Maybe he was a revolutionary? I will have to learn more about it. Thanks for the link.

Funny
there is a strong German 'thread' in the Ron Paul movement. Starting with RP himself. I guess it's because many freedom loving Germans emigrated to the US. Generally speaking Germans (for good reasons) don't have the reputation to be very much liberty-minded.
And we are not (yet) many here, but we are dedicated. And I'm optimistic the message will spread here too. I know a lot of people are fed up with the statist system we do have here.
Dr. Paul cured my apathy
Here's what's really funny
Not funny "ha ha," but, funny as in strange -- given Germany's history and everything her people have been through, wouldn't one expect Germany to enthusiastically embrace and even demand libertarian / liberty-minded government??
It always strikes me as odd, that having experienced what they have in the past, the people of Germany would still choose socialist governments...
- uh oh -

Never mind.

Germans are America’s big ethnic secret. No people and no culture has contributed more to what the United States is and is becoming. In the nation’s ethnic tangle, no root runs deeper than German America.

I have heard
in the beginning of the united States it was considered to make German the first language. But during WW I there was a strong campaign against everything German in the US. Part of the propaganda to lure the Americans into war I guess.
