OCALA - There is a struggle for control of the Marion County Republican Executive Committee and its outcome will determine the local party's direction for years.

Campaign signs for state committee delegate and other GOP primary races are seen soaked by Tropical Storm Fay on Friday outside Marion County Republican Party headquarters on East Silver Springs Boulevard.

On Tuesday, that fight will come to a head as two sides try to take control of REC offices most Republicans have never even heard of: state committeeman and state committeewoman.

But the two offices are the targets of a Republican group determined to take over the reins of the local REC and oust its current leadership.
