American independence

I have a question about what I saw on CNN American Morning. We received serious help from the French to help defeat the British in our war of independence, did we not? How do we answer the argument that "fledgling democracies like Georgia" don't need our help, when we took it during the revolution?
Just Curious...

I would guess. .

the difference is the 7,000 warheads that the United States and Russia have pointing at each other that could be fired off within 15 minutes.

As Secretary of State John

As Secretary of State John Quincy Adams wrote in 1821: "America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion only of her own."

He was absolutely correct in his advice, we should be a well-wisher for all those who seek freedom and independence, but we should remain a champion only for ourselves. Besides, look at what is going on in Georgia, you have two sections of that country that want to declare their independence from Georgia, should the Right of Self-Determination not be granted?

I mean whose side would you support, the Georgians who are seeking to prevent those in South Ossetia from gaining their independence, even if they want to enter Russia, or do you support the South Ossetians who want their independence?

Besides, the French really didn't give a whole heck of support to the American cause for Independence. Sure, they showed up with a fleet at the end of the War, sent rotten muskets and some money, but little else.

It is, in essence, none of our business what anyone else does.
