Sarah Palin calls Ron Paul "Cool" in MTV Interview.
In this interview, Palin calls controversial Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul “cool.” “He’s a good guy,” she added. “He’s so independent. He’s independent of the party machine. I’m like, ‘Right on, so am I.’ ”

Here's what I see happening .....
McCain will kick the bucket, Palin will tap RP as her VP :>) :>) :>)

She doesn't share his policies saddly
"Critics in the state complained that Ms. Palin had undercut her clean-government image by appointing as her chief adviser on the pipeline a former lobbyist for TransCanada. The adviser, Marty Rutherford, her deputy commissioner of natural resources, earned about $40,000 lobbying the state government for a TransCanada subsidiary in 2003."
http://www.nytimes.com/20...
"One month ago Palin pushed through a half billion dollar subsidy to TransCanada to build a gas pipeline, and a contract granting TransCanada exclusive rights to the project rather than allow BP and Conoco, who own the rights to the gas, to compete for the contract. The subsidy was granted before the U.S. and Canada had given the necessary regulatory approval to build the pipeline."

giving a 26 billion dollar oil pipe contract to a Canadian company and subsidizing them with half a billion dollars to build it?
Lovely.
SP called RP "cool" in Feb. 08
However, in January 08, the McCainPalin.com website was already established.
Just sayin'.
/ she might be okay
// moot if InSane comes standard with the package

Domain Squatting
Thousands of Domain Names are bought by domain squatters with the hopes of one day selling them to a more rightful owner, at a huge profit.
Go to McCain2008.com or McCain08.com for example.
That's true -- here's more
In pursuit of accuracy, I just performed further Whois checks:
McCainRomney.com:
Creation Date: 23-dec-2007
Expiration Date: 23-dec-2008
McCainLieberman.com (check these dates!)
Creation Date: 10-jan-2005
Expiration Date: 10-jan-2010
McCainStevens.com 08 / 2008 (no match for any)
McCainPawlenty.com

Expires on: 08-Apr-09
Still, you don't squat a domain unless you think there might be viable reason for possible use of such a domain name. Therefore, Palin's selection cannot be an utter and complete surprise. Yet, according to a Politico article, InSane met Palin only six months ago and spoke with her just once on the phone about the position of VP before offering it in person earlier this week.
Seems like it could be a last-ditch effort to grab certain voters, and not much more.
Look again at the McCainLieberman.com dates, and consider the possibilities of bait-and-switch: select Palin in hopes of snagging the Hillary, liberty, and youthful voters (soccer moms, too); get elected; then, once she's served her purpose, something happens to Palin not too long after January, and in sweeps Lieberman to take over the bulk of the term.
That thought might sound a bit conspiratorial and far-fetched, except nothing seems to be out of the question any more, these days. And if Palin is indeed "championable" in the eyes of liberty lovers, then her days in office may indeed be numbered, given the company of people she's suddenly being dropped in with.
Yes I agree,
She's playin the game...friend or foe?

Maybe we
need to send her a copy of "The Revolution".
I think we as the
Campaign for Liberty should be trying to influence this woman for the better. She seems like a Washington outsider and we need to get to her before the corrupt people in Washington do. Just think if McCain kicks the bucket, she is it. This of course would not have to be a topic at all if Ron Paul were some how to get the nomination.
Right. And we need to produce numbers not a ragtag bunch
of vigilantes. Doesn't get us anywhere.

I won't vote McCain, but
if McCain has a heart attack while taking the oath of office, we could be in good hands, just maybe.
I didn't know there were this many SANE people on DP
I'm stunned at the clarity of thought in this thread below.
This woman is a gold nugget. And Our Ron Paul Alaskans are delighted that she is on the ticket.

I'm reading about her..I
I'm reading about her..I hear she has a 90% rating as governor..!! That is high as the dickens, if true. NOW what I want to know is,. IS SHE A MEMBER or attempting to be a member of the CFR????
Let's see the glass as half full
The Revolution is going to be a LONG TERM PROJECT. The "evil ones" have had the patience to wait DECADES to take over this country. We have to have the same patience in order to win it back. If we look at our "mission" as getting the country back to THINKING STRAIGHT, we need people at all levels and in all parties to make that happen.
It isn't about this election or this party.... it is about re-educating the American People (and frankly the people of the world) to RIGHT THINKING after decades of brainwashing.
Having said that I would say that the choice of Palin is a GOOD SIGN for our team. It means that the "big wigs" KNOW that they are in big trouble with the real people. It means that they felt that they NEEDED someone who is "outside" of their corrupt system in order to pull voters to McCain. They picked someone who is strong on the second amendment, families, independence, against big corporate corruption, for states having the right to do with their own resources as they please. MANY, MANY areas in which this woman is GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
This means that they understand that they are LOSING and WHY. And that should be a big success in our eyes. Now, she isn't 100% on board with the foreign policy issue. This is because she is a believer in the "threat of terrorism". She obviously believes that 911 was pulled off by these third world terrorists and feels that it is the responsibility of the US to protect themselves, blah, blah, blah. But MANY people on this thread still believe these things..... they just believe in going about it differently.
So a woman with about an 80% score on the "Revolution" beliefs being picked by the party to REPRESENT the party is actually a real sign that the message is getting through and they are SCARED.
My hope is that this woman is able to withstand the evil and corruption of these people. She seems honest and sincere and I just hope they don't destroy her, her family and her state. But overall the fact that they KNEW they HAD to chose her in order to try to pull some of US back into the party is a HUGE sign that we are making progress.
We just have to remain committed and consistent in getting the message out...... FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES.
She's even smoked pot!

I have no faith in Ms.
I have no faith in Ms. Palin, purely based upon her party classification PLUS her running mate. It's all I need to know.
I used to like Arnold Schwarzenegger, too, during the five minutes that he showed signs of political independence. Now he's just part of the neocon machine.

Do you no longer have faith in Dr. Paul, "purely based upon [his] party classification"?
I've voted third party the last three presidential elections (Constitution Party in '96 and '04, and Buchanan [Reform] '00), every single one I've been old enough to vote in. But I still long for the day when the Republican party goes back to its roots.

Message to Palin?
Posted August 29th, 2008 by JoeDanger
Dear Mrs. Palin,
We hear you are a fan of Ron Paul. We would like you to do whatever it takes to at least get him a speaking spot at the convention. Your support could go a long way towards gaining our support. Thanks
Or something along those lines...
Maybe if she gets bombarded with enough emails... :-)
(if someone posts her email, I'll drop her a line at least.

Don't waste time with frauds Obama, McCain, Nader or Barr - join the Campaign For Liberty! http://www.campaignforlib... The Constitution is more important than voting for the evil of 4 lessers
That doens't make a lot of sense.
If Ron Paul was offered to place of running mate and accepted it, why would that be a strike against him if he stated that doesn't agree with all of McCain's positions? In today's speech by Palin, she said doesn't agree with all of McCain's positions.
If you want to effect change in government, you need to get inside the system somehow. The more influential the position, the better.

Don't blame me if there's no voice for liberty opposing McCain and Obama in the Presidential debates. I donated to Ron Paul Libertarian, Bob Barr's campaign.
VP
I've seen her speak before & she always came across on freedoms side . So I'll give the benefit of good works till she proves me wrong. I do think she is going to have to get up to speed for the WASH. crowd. I hope she can hold her own ground.
I also think RON & campaign for LIBERTY had some impact on the choice & the female vote thing. It's about as good as it gets for the game of TODAY. At least she does not appear to be an ELITIST.
SINCERLY

Do not sell out for this ruse!
Sarah Palin, has integrity, but will no be able to exercise that integrity once McSame is in the White House.
Stick to your guns, wait for direction from Ron Paul, the convention is only a few days from now.
Do not make any decisions until after the Rally for the Republic!
Be faithful Patriots.
This proves that Paul is a threat at the convention!
McCain's lackys wanted him to pick someone that might appear Ron Paul friendly.
Wow! She said way back that RP was cool! Wait a minute.... who was it that said RP was the most honest man in Washington?
You're right!
McNasty did say that...
Cool and Honest, yep, sounds about right to me
Exactly.
Clearly Paul has influenced this pick.

You have rankled me from day one, but with this one comment of yours, I take back all my Billy Dee insults........at least this once. Tomorrow is another story. Ha!
If she really believes it
she should secure a speaking spot for the "good guy" at the RNC. Then perhaps I can hope she might be "cool" too.
She probably has a ticket to the R4L to sell...

I don't care or believe a politicians' words. I only care about a politician's voting record.

The pursuit of liberty is addictive... Let's make it contagious.
Her record is stellar
Most Ron Paul voters would easily find 80-95% common ground with Gov. Palin.
Her decision to be on the McCain ticket
bumped her "in common" percentage down a few points.
Some RP supporters hoped for RP to be the VP nominee
Sometimes you gotta play the game if you wanna win.
McCain got LAST PLACE in Alaska. He is no friend to Alaska or Alaska's interests. McCain has helped environmentalists keep billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of gas locked up under a vast frozen wasteland.
Sarah knows this. She has never had very positive things to say about him until she was on stage with him today.
Corner RP on McCain or Bush, or even Don Young, and Ron Paul will offer a few polite comments about the person. It's just what nice people do: be nice to others.
Sarah is polishing her résumé. A VP run is a big deal. History is replete with Presidents and VPs who were not always perfect matches.
I don't look at her joining the ticket being her personally validating McCain, as I see it as her chance to do big things, because I really do believe she has the "servant's heart" as she stated. I think she wants to do good things for Alaska and for the U.S.
By getting into the VP job, she may be able to influence the opening of that vast frozen wasteland called ANWR to oil drilling. More U.S. produced oil equals fewer military adventures on behalf of big oil.
My big complaint with Sarah is that she has not been enlightened on the war question. But many people in this very forum were big "rah rah sis boom bah! Bomb Iraq!" types before Ron Paul entered their consciousness. She can be educated.
Cool!

So who thinks Ron Paul fanatics are Kooks now?
If Ron could get more influence in the next presidency that would be a good thing.
She'd be the second Republican to have a target on her back.
First woman though...
Frustrating...
I believe she is sincere about her comments against the party machine.

"Those Who Strive For Excellence Refuse To Fear Mediocrity; They Eradicate It."
She absolutely is serious about corruption in the party machine
The head of the Alaska GOP can't stand her. She even got him fined by the state ethics board when he was in a state-appointed position and using his state work time and computer for partisan business.
In March, at the Alaska GOP State convention, she publicly challenged the delegates to revolt against the state chairman and his cronyism.
She is ethical and is highly independent.
She was a Buchanan girl in '96, taking on the party machine even way back then.
It looks like she sold out
who knows what was her price to accept the VIP nomination!?

I don't think she sold out, I think its just a step for her.
I will note that Pat Buchanan's former campaign manager was the one who was said to have pushed McCain towards here instead of the others.

I don't think she's sold
I don't think she's sold out. I think McCain is forced to do whatever he can to woo Hilliary's supporters while simultaneously offering an olive branch to us Paulites. And she's a fellow "Maverick". John has pulled out all the stops with this one.

Yeah, it can also be seen as McCain selling out.

there's no reason to digg this
What is the point? She is the VP of Satan McCain. There is no reason for us to be happy about this, just indifferent. I still hate McCain as much as I possibly can and these tricks do not change that at all.

It shows that Ron Paul influenced this pick
Part of the reason for selecting her is trying to keep Paul supporters from swinging the election away from him.
