I feel that this decision has somewhat to do with adding uniqueness to the campaign. Obama/Biden have the enigma of 'OMG Black President!'
Hillary Clinton also had that 'OMG Female President'...Palin adds a bit of the non-white-guy appeal that Americans are looking for this election. I dont like her, and I honestly think, from a political science standpoint, it was a poor decision.
Romney, even as a nonevangelical liberal Republican white guy, would have brought in more votes because he has experience as governor and in economics (being a businessman)
I knew this lady as being friendly to our cause. She apparently did not form a good foreign policy viewpoint. Her being selected was a direct play for us and Hillary voters. I think it was in a polical sense the best move McCain could have made.
I think she might even show up at the Rally and try to mend fences. That would be a "Maverick" move by the McCain campaign.
Then hopefully McCain dies! I did not mean that, sorry!

Unbelievably, there seems to be a fair number of RP supporters here actually pondering the idea of going over to his side out of desperation for a long range plan of lessor evil. So maybe their ploy of this "surprise" pick of theirs will work for some. The neocons always seem to have every angle worked out ahead of time and are such masters at orchestrating events to look like last minute decisions when they are planned well in advance. You have to give them credit; they are very cunning.
