Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman, Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar released after illegal arrests

This qualifies for 2 of the 10 steps for closing down an open, democratic society and imposing fascism. It is (1) the targeting of key individuals and (2) arbitrary detention and release.

The government had been spying on Americans all along for years illegally. With the passing of the new FISA this summer retroactive immunity was given to the telecoms who participated. Much of what was illegal up to this point has now been made legal. The Feds are now emboldened to brazenly move forward and intimidate those who do not want to tow the line with what the government wants. The feds and the local police have cooperated together to militarize the city of Saint Paul and intimidate dissenters into staying home and shutting up. They had been conducting preemptive raids into Saint Paul homes, intimidating and arresting people who had been planning peaceful protests during two days previous to Amy's arrest. Certainly, the causes of some of these people who have been rudely intruded on by the police have causes that are kind of "out there" from our perspective. However these dissidents are ordinary Americans who want their views heard (not Al Queda out to kill us) who surely were singled out by the government spy apparatus now that the government can legally do this at will. But don't worry, tyrannies always begin by targeting "fringe" people first since most of us cannot identify with these people. That way we'll be less likely to protest. This place makes me sadder every time I log in. What ever happened to the libertarian Daily Paul? This is now the intolerant, anti-libertarian Daily Paul. It's like some kind of bizarro-DP. If I had logged out at the peak of the campaign and not logged back in until today, I'd think DP had been redirected to FreeRepublic.

Who cares if she doesn't understand Democracy vs Republic? Who cares if she's a confused leftist? There are millions of people just like her, with hearts in the right place, and they are our allies. Not every left-leaning American is a subversive seeking to overthrow the republic and install Stalinism. We just need to reach these people and educate them. They want to end the fascist state just as much as we do!

So get a freaking grip, people. This is a woman who was trying to report the real stories that the MSM won't touch, and she got roughed up by the official thugs of our so-called republic. I agree with the post below. She is very hostile. Always trying to attack that which she has a problem with. She is very counterproductive and pretty much a schmuck. I use to work...well volunteer down at the station so I have met her and the rest of the group. She is an idiot. She thinks she knows what shes talking about but doesnt. That goes for the rest of the group as well. She's very righteous and very angry. It's not good. She cares about people but she doesn't understand what she's talking about.

Ron Paul has gotten out in front of the speeding locomotive that is headed for a very serious de-railment.

He's laying new track -- the only way to change the direction of this overwhelming force.

Others have chosen to try in vain to push or shove or obstruct the speeding locomotive. It's a no-win strategy. Been there done that.

"Re-Create 68" will get the same results that 1968 produced. Nothing of lasting value will come of it. Yes there will be some limited national awareness but no real lasting change of direction. The freight train will still be racing towards it's destiny of calamity.
