Washington Delegates/Alternates Goodwill Gesture
I was very proud of our WA delegates on the last morning of the RNC. John Burke and Steven Hardy formerly addressed the WA delegation to acknowledge delegation chairmen Ralph Munro's accurate and complete count of the RP votes (the WA delegation had 4 votes for RP=10% for WA). 3 out of 4 of the delegates and all the alternates offered up their positions just before McCain's speech Thurs evening so that McCain supporters could be on the floor when he spoke. After announcing this they received a standing ovation from the delegation. Ron Paul would've been proud of them for this humanitarian gesture as it reflected the integrity of the people in our Campaign for Liberty.

Getting IT!!!!!
I think some of you are getting it, and some of you aren't. It's all about the numbers folks. Nathan Bedford Forrest once said about military strategy and how to win, " Get there firstus with the mostus". All of you understand that, I know you do. We were late to this game, but we're quik learners for the most part. Now is the time to go back to your local parties and start working them. You'll know if you have what it takes to stand up to what goes on during a national convention. Those of us who were at the past convention got a rude awakening to what politics is really like. Had I known before hand I may have left others to go in my stead, but I did go and I did make it out of there, not head held high, but not tucked between my legs either. I plan on getting 3 delegates and 3 alternates to the next convention from my district. What about you? If all you want to do is say " Shoulda-Woulda-Coulda", then I still have a few signs that need waving.
I don't hold any bad feelings toward anyone here that is let down by how things went and I know some of you need to vent a little. But in a day or two you need to start realizing that Each and every delegate and alternate did what they thought was best. Each one of us learned something different that will serve the cause. Lets not throw out that knowledge and have to do this all over again.
As far as the numbers at the Rally, for me just knowing you guys were there and that we could come home to you each and every night at Jagers or The Lone Tree, or where ever you were made the bitter pill a little easier to swallow.
Next time, we have the numbers. We call the shots. And we still have a Rally.
Thanks.
3 questions, please
Does anyone think we should bombard our Republican congressional reps with the knowledge that we now know how the whole process was orchestrated? Shall we send letters to the editor as well with these firsthand stories? I'm still so frustrated as I read more and more descriptions of what went on at the RNC. We can only guess how strong Ron Paul really is having taken this abuse for 30 years! My local paper actually printed our letter to the editor about Ron Paul, and my local congressman's secretary actually phoned our house! Shall we chalk this nightmare up to experience or get the word out about this injustice? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
Supposedly the very same
Supposedly the very same thing happened with "Hillary Democats", according to someone I talked to about the Ron Paul delegates, so we're not totally unique in that respect. The parties don't like dissent.
thats right-and as a matter of fact...
A good friend of mine was very active in the Hillary campaign- they have quite a few planning to write in Hillary. They feel that she won the popular vote and are more than a bit disgusted overall with the shameless pandering to them of the palin pick. They are calling her "Rush Limbagh in a skirt". Not sure if they would be attracted to the coalition discussed in the other thread- but they do have a revolt of their own brewing.
Live Free or Diebold
I was there... part 2
Dr. Paul was offered floor rights, as is required for all sitting Congressmen, but then the GOP laid restrictions so violative of decency and respect that it was impossible to comply. As such he "voluntarily" refused!
They were the following egregious demands:
1. His RIGHT to the floor could be revoked at any time by the GOP;
2. He must agree to be accompanied at all times by an RNC official!
3. He would not be allowed the 3 staffers normally accompanying a congressman, such as security, but would have to go alone!
In essence he would become a puppy dog on a leash for the GOP to exhibit for a laughing stock amidst the charade of the masked ball!!
Further, many states were "failed announcements" for RP delegates votes for Paul! There was a tactic of strong-arming the delegates out of position to even contact their delegation chairs to engage in the formal requirement of notifying them of their RP vote choice. This is a requirement of the RNC rules and the chair once informed MUST announce!
Again it must be repeated that this whole charade was ORGANIZED CRIME at it's best; a continuation of the previous 18 months, maybe 25 years, of organized crime! The lack of volume at the mike, cut off mikes, or dropped Paul votes subsequently denied by state delegation chairs, was no accident, but well planned and carried out organized crime... it was necessary to perpetuate the show!
It was necessary to carry out the higher objective of both the RNC and DNC combined, and that is to STOP PAUL AT ALL COSTS!
As such the abstention, so viciously fought against by the McCain camp, would have been the better choice in this war... but I leave it to each delegation to see for themselves the better part of valor, the better gain in the war which continues.
For myself, given the desperate state of affairs for the common man and women in this land, the sacrifice in life and money already desperately thrown at the RP campaign by those who have nothing more to loose or give, we best not forget the ultimate goal... that is a Paul presidency, not a Paul congressional victory!
Whether or not Paul sees this as feasible, or whether or not it appears possible, the victories of blood soaked battlefields have always been the precious purchases of that precious blood so freely given up! Let us carry on with awesome respect and thanks for blessings which have been so dearly bought, and let us resolve once again to give in like manner, side by side with other patriots, and if need be, with those less bold, with those weaker in faith, with those who now regret or repent of shirking prior demands upon their vote and life, so that we can yet gain every once of strength, and every possible inch of ground, for the cause of truth, justice and liberty!
"Suspicion is a Virtue, if in the interests of the good of the people." Patrick Henry
"We are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of Nature has placed in our power... the battle, sir, is not to the strong alone - it is to the brave..."
Delegates, any feedback on Lew Moore?
Did he speak to you?
What was he up to?

Blow by blow by a Mass delegate
Hello all,
First I'd like to thank all the supporters who came out to the caucuses across Massachusetts and especially in the eigth district (Boston) where we swept our caucuses. If every RP supporter across the nation had committed to this level, I think we could have had enough stealth RP delegates to get this nomination.
My story is here for all to judge. I'm just going to give the facts here. I think you can judge for yourself about how we handled this. There is a lot of speculation also, which I may post later after verified.
We came into town Monday night and were invited to a GOP reception which was followed by a RP reception across town. At the GOP reception we gathered near a replica of air force one along with many RP delegates from other states. We decided to start a Ron Paul chant while streaming out to ruffle some feathers. It worked .
We arrived at the RP reception with a plan hatched by Chris Blanc, who was quoted above and Todd Fay, who was Chris's alternate. We got in the reception and listened to Dr. Paul. After the speech we had a supporter who was going to go along with the plan take the mic and announce a meeting outside the hall. Drew Ivers took the mic not long after this and started to announce that he wanted people to stick around and listen to him and Jesse Benton.
The purpose of our meeting in the courtyard was to plan to nominate RP for president, which the campaign had given up on for a long time. We understood the rules of the roll call vote, which stated that RP could not be nominated or placed on the ballot of choices for the roll call vote for all states without the support of the majority of five delegations. We identified the ten smallest delegations and assigned delegates from across the country to approach delegates from these delegations with petitions for placing RP on the ballot. This was understood to be a Hail Mary, but we were not going to give up. We went nuts on the floor on Tuesday trying to get these petitions signed.
The people from the WA delegation were actually able to get the support of the majority of the virgin islands delegation, but our luck stopped there.
We were not able to get RP placed on the ballot for all states. Some states were legally required to report the votes of RP supporters who were legally bound to RP, but most states were not. In Massachusetts, most of us were bound by state law to McCain. We were only given the option of McCain or abstain.
When asked about my vote by my party chairman, I was given the option of McCain or abstain. Knowing there would be legal issues, I told him I was to abstain. Every Ron Paul delegate from Massachusetts initially voted to abstain. This started a shitstorm on the floor behind the wolf blitzer tent. We told them we wanted RP to speak on and have full floor access which he had been denied by the convention. They called in a Rep from the McCain campaign who told us that we could make a deal. If we got all the delegates for RP from all states united to vote for McCain, we could potentially have recognition for RP from the stage (maybe not RP but perhaps a grassroots supporter). We called as many delegates from other states to meet, and we decided not to take the deal. The reason for this was that we were unable to contact anyone from the campaign to advise us or to tell us that RP was willing to speak. No one answered their phones... I personally told everyone that we had to make the decision without the campaign (since I don't trust them anyway), but this was not the majority opinion.
During the meeting we were surrounded by a massive goon squad with ear pieces listening and typing everything we said. We had the sergeant at arms harassing our people trying to steal our list of RP delegates from all states. We had interns surrounding us with fake homemade signs to hide us from the media. We broke the meeting with the resolution to negotiate on the state level.
I can't speak for what happened in other states, but I do not expect anyone was given tickets to the rage concert... Many people had tickets already and wanted to go instead of being on the floor or anywhere near the propaganda festival.
For our state, we worked out a deal which was by no means unanimous. There was much dissent, but I think most of the people who did not agree are now realizing that we did the best we could do. Most of us gave our votes to alternates rather than abstaining.
Now for my interpretation:
To us, eight abstentions which would likely not have been reported was of less value than cooperation with the party in helping to get a meetup director on the State Committee, getting RP supporters on town commitees and formally welcoming us into the party. This puts us in a position to elect more RP supporters to the state committee for the upcoming election cycle, and if we fully activate all our supporters in the state we can own this committee, period. In the next presidential elections, Massachusetts can have 100% delegates for Ron Paul or a similar candidate without a doubt in my mind. Had we not made this deal, the party would have likely opposed us illegally every step of the way. We have an agreement in writing from our state party granting us several things that have already and will bring us much closer to our goals in Massachusetts. To get this, we worked with people in the party who supported Pat Buchanan in prior presidential runs, and a man on the national platform committee who struck a clause in support of the North American Union on our insistence. These party people are extremely happy. I believe they're happy not because of the unanimous vote as much as the prospect of having us in the party in the future. -->
Fools
You gave up your votes for a promise.
Ask the native Americans and Palestinians how many treaties (contracts) were broken.
When they break them, what are you going to do? What can you sue them for? Nothing. The things they promised have no monetary value...thus, they can feel free to break them with zero repercussions.
Oh, well, another lesson for the gullible 'Revolution' to learn.
And even if those magic beans grow a beanstalk, be careful what you wish for...Jack.
Delegate checking in.
One thing is for sure…I'm pretty pissed! As tired as I was after the 23 hours ride, I rushed to my computer, checked email, and read every word in this section. Absolutely mind-numbing! First of all, I can't believe that RP supporters would rush to the various forums and start their own set of potential rumors. We (MA RP Delegation) just spent a week dealing with disseminating rumors as they arose. I just can't understand why people would fuel the rumor-mill rather than wait to hear directly from their respective Delegation. Before I give you my personal account of the night, it appears a number of things were called in to question regarding the MA Delegation including our commitment to the mission and sleeping with the devil....to those people I would like to offer this tiny but exciting piece of my mind.
First, let me validate my roll in all this. We are a Homeschool family and I have supported Dr. Paul since 1988. I am a municipal employee and Chair two boards in my town. I spent countless hours phone-banking, canvassing, and various other campaign related activities. I (we) strategized, practiced speeches, and educated ourselves. The big day soon came where I was able to stand up in front of my fellow Republicans of the first District and state my name, announce my intent as a McCain Delegate, and deliver the best RP speech I could muster. I didn't mention the good Doctor's name but I sure did include his talking points. I spent an hour and a half working the room prior to the Caucus and used everything I could to gain the advantage. I garnished the second highest number of votes and EARNED my seat. A seat which was challenged within 24 hours because they had me on video calling for Bush's impeachment and any others that stood in the way. I did this at a televised town-hall-style meeting with Olver / Neal. Let me repeat this again...I EARNED MY SEAT!!! We also went on to form our own stand-alone group and I now produce a weekly radio show to further our cause.
I read some very disturbing comments regarding our Delegation. Many of these venomous comments were made by individuals that either weren't there or truly didn't know what the overall mission really is. I was on another forum where this guy named MortyKi just arbitrarily cut us to pieces. I looked at the guy's picture and read his trail of comments only to find that he wasn't at the "Real Politics" seminar and didn't even know what the goal is! In fact, given the repetitive flames, I dare say he acted very similar to your classic provocateur. I refuse to waist any time responding to these people so let me just make this one general comment for the record. First, you (providing you're not a Antagonist) should at least wait until the Delegation debriefs and reports in officially. Second, if you went to the Real Politics seminar, participated in the phone conference, and properly prepared yourself, you would better understand what happened that night and how it relates to our stated goal. My individual statement to all you MortyKi's is this. Shut your fucking pie-holes until you hear from your respective Delegation! And above all....if you're not prepared to get a little bruised up to deliver a time-sensitive bash in the head, then go back to playing Dungeons-N-Dragons and keep the fuck out of politics! It isn’t for you!
Everything we learned....everything in the conference call....everything in the seminar was executed during that little two hour portion of our lives. To the best of our ability, we relied on everything we learned and prepared for. Oh and BTW, we did it with an intense presence of secret service like you would not believe.
Here's what I experienced personally.
Several of our Delegation was already seated when a fellow female Delegate arrived. As soon as we sat down we learned that the others were polled as to what their official vote would be. A GOPer was seated directly in front of me and diagonal to her. GOPer immediately began to work on her. I don't know if he initially knew I was right behind him. I injected myself into the conversation when it started to get uncomfortable and firmly asserted our position. After a moderately heated exchange, the GOPer got up and rushed over to speak with Torkildsen. Within two minutes he returned and said for she and I to come with him. We did. We followed him to the lower access corridor that leads under the bleacher seats. Torkildsen met us at the entrance and accompanied us in.
As soon as we got inside we were immediately surrounded by Congressman, McCain Campaign reps, the highest members of our State party, and an ever-growing secret service presence. We were literally pushing these goons off our backs. It was unbelievable. We got ambushed, period. When I recognized what was happening I immediately sent my fellow Delegate to get the rest of the group ASAP, which she did.
The only thing I could do was attempt to dominate the conversation and take advantage of what we learned. We took advantage of the timing and momentum and proceeded to BASH THEM OVER THE HEAD!
Once the others arrived to my aid, we continued to make demands and apply as much pressure as we could. Don't forget....THEY CAME TO US. They "feared" us. They finally "respected" us. We pushed for equal floor access, formal speaking time, public recognition of the C4L, and the list goes on. We hit our communication network on-site and I had one of our dedicate supporters ready to execute various things here locally. RP detractors need to familiarize themselves with RP's advise. There are two parties and we have to work within them, period. We are to seek various seats in government and put down the roots of Liberty.
As I see it, we really only had two choices. We could have voted against our stated goals and vote with our heart by casting our vote for RP or abstain. BTW, Torkildsen already said they would aggressively pursue legal recourse for any abstentions and affectively kill my chances of being elected Delegate in 2012. Hmmm, if I did this, what exposure would we get? I'll tell you....NONE. It would have been cleansed out of the news reports just like it has been. We all saw it during the official reading of the vote. We've made a lot of trade-offs like that already. We leave with nothing more than our pride of message. Not this time! Not today! Today we deliver a bloody nose and take something in their moment of weakness. We tried to get as many RP representatives involved as we could, but the demands on the National level quickly became an impossibility. Besides, we didn't have a line open to RP to back or adjust our plan as needed. Oh, and I think it's about time we thoroughly vette our liaison(s).
At this point we pushed for everything we could get. We weren't going home empty handed and we weren't about to be our usual diplomatic selves. We came together as a team and made our demands known! Some were generic and long overdue but others had a tangible benefit to our movement / goal. Lets not forget that the Convention was just one of many battlegrounds. I didn't expect to win the war this week and I hope no one else did either.
We left the altercation with some significant footholds within local and state seats. This "IS" what we're supposed to be doing. Our message was heard loud and clear, our level of organization and commitment was evident, and gained an established "our" presence and message within the Republican Party. Do you understand what I said....Liberty now has roots within the Massachusetts Republican Party!
Read those words closely. They accepted us, but we didn't accept them (NeoCon message). We were accepting of the few that were understanding of our message of Liberty and backed those sentiments with action. Those that didn't are simply going to be replaced with someone that is qualified. We must use the existing system and available resources to make the changes necessary to regain constitutional governance. Those of you that for some unexplained reason actually think that we can miraculously come up with the massive numbers needed to instantly take over, you do not understand the plan.
I'd like to take this chance to clear up another popular misconception. Not one of us sold out and voted for McCain!!! Everyone I spoke to did just what I did and walked off the floor. I never casted a vote for McCain! I couldn't stomach doing such a thing for someone I am so adamantly against in principal. This dirty job was left to my Alternate. We didn't sacrifice our principals and we didn't leave empty handed either. I apologize for nothing!
I know many of you say these are only hollow promises and we were had. Although we were seeing immediate action on some of the concessions, we fully understand that we'll have to apply relentless pressure on the GOP to make good on every last item, which BTW we got in writing. Now that we have our foot wedged in the door you can be sure that we will be asking for more. There is a long time until the election and they are still quite fearful of what we are capable of doing in response to the slightest breach of our terms.
The one thing that could make everything that was accomplished a total waste is for our network to be divided and conquered. If we self-destruct after the first major bump in the road, I clearly overestimated the understanding and coherence of our group. We will be faced with many challenges on this quest for Liberty and you better get used to it. Politics is a dirty business and you better get used to that too. I have the utmost respect and admiration for my fellow Delegates, Alternates, and guests! If everything about this movement came to an end at this very moment I would consider myself a richer person and sincerely grateful for knowing and working with each and every one of them. My 3-cornered hat is off to you my friends. You are true solders of Liberty and I will fight beside you until the day we claim victory and beyond.
My parting advice is as follows. Please don't let your various groups fall victim to internal fighting. Thoroughly vette any questionable members. The C4L, like any other major movement is susceptible to being compromised. Be on the lookout to provocateurs. The message of Liberty and constitutional government is a strong one. It usually sells itself. Those that still openly oppose that message are your enemy! This is a bi-cameral system and we must work within it. Having a recognized third party is years or even decades away and we simply don't have the luxury of time on our side. Put your best people forward and TAKE your rightful seats at the table! Yes it's a dirty corrupt system and nobody here is denying that. It got that way through incremental degradation and infiltration by globalist lap-dogs. We must infiltrate in much the same way. We must identify and vette those established insiders that are supportive of our movement. They are few and far between, but they are there. Identify the corrupt within our government and politically attack them with relentless and unforgiving intensity. Give them not one moment of rest and make them fear your political existence. Bash those evil bastards over the head every chance you get...it feels good. Anarchist style approaches will gain nothing in a political fight. Stay on ethical high ground, insist on your seat at the table, and demand recognition as a classic conservative by the Party.
I truly hope this provides people with a better understanding of what actually happened that night. Nobody sold out the movement....it was a victory. We lost nothing of National recognition and made clear gains towards our ultimate goal. I couldn't be more proud of our Delegation and other operatives. I stand firm with them and they've earned my unwavering respect. The RP supporters of MA took 1/3 of our states delegate seats and should remain proud of that victory. You are true leaders in this fight for Liberty and serve as a shining example of patriotism. I am a better person for knowing you and look forward to fighting side-by-side with you on the next battlefield. And to those that oppose the message of Liberty and sovereignty, I would like to leave you with the following quote.
Be it with your blood or mine, soon we water the tree of Liberty!
In respect & Liberty,
Dave
1st District Delegate
Blood? Tough talk from someone who traded vote for promise
A few weeks/months we will be hearing how 'those damn neocons didn't live up to their promises'.
I have news for you...unless you keep compromising, you won't be a delegate next election.
Jeez, one little bit of intimidation and people leap down the slippery slope.
Lesson learned: get tons more delegates next time (question: why was the call for delegates so late in the Ron Paul campaign?).
Well what exactly did you
Well what exactly did you gain? What of any significance was accomplished? Inquiring minds want to know.
What it all means...
Hello All,
What this now means is that we have established roots of Liberty within the MassGOP. Please, everyone, think back to all the announcements and conference calls. RP asked us to be non-confrontational and inject the Constitution and the message of Liberty into the Party through making a bid for these seats. I'm not here to deny the restrictions of this two Party system, but like RP, I understand that we have to work within it...for now. RP understands this, I understand this, and everyone else should too.
This Liberty Revolution, like all good revolutions, have various "parts" associated with it. RP is the leader that we look up to based on things like his ideologies and "voting record." He should never compromise on anything for any reason. Millions of followers look to that for inspiration and guidance. Those running for State or Federal office may be included in the group. However, those that are fighting tooth and nail to ensure our leader's goals are realized must stop at nothing to advance Liberty. I'm not saying we should compromise on Civil Liberties or the Constitution though. This is a line we must always tow without compromise! The final outcome allowed us to tow the line while gaining a foothold within the MA Republican Party.
McCain Delegates were in a quite a pinch here in MA. We were bound to McCain and we didn't have a single committed RP Delegate. Many people here have resorted to calling us traitors and sell-outs. For those that want to split hairs on these issues, I offer the following facts for your consideration. My district, like many others, was actually let down by many fellow RP supporters. They simply didn't show up and some that did just cowered in the corner like whipped pups. It was 100% imperative that I (we) secure the votes of other receptive Republicans. These were not RP people that I absolutely had to have onboard; they were your everyday Republicans. Those people that call us traitors for selling-out the constituents that elected us really need to rethink their comments.
As we look closer at this split hair, it's clear to see that all but the 7th & 8th districts of MA had this moral dilemma to deal with. So given the "facts" of the matter, am I to understand that the individual rights of the Americans that just happened to be McCain voters, doesn't deserve to be rightfully represented? Is that what I'm hearing? This is a very hypocritical position to hold. I don't agree at all with their choice of candidates but I will fight to the death for their right to have that opinion. I guess when people take the time to look at the facts surrounding the issue it's obvious that we actually did remain representative of those that elected us. Facts are very stubborn things, aren't they?
I still apologize for nothing. I have two teenage boys that I love with all my heart! I scan the mail on a daily basis for crap from the war machine (recruiters) looking to include my sons in their imperialist global mission. I, like most of you, can see that the future is quite uncertain and worrisome, to say the least. I feel a real sense of urgency incase that isn't obvious by now. Those of us with our boots on the ground need to keep looking towards leaders like RP for inspiration and guidance, but must be aggressive realists in the battlefield. Again with the facts....there was no way a full abstention would has seen a second of air time. Would it have sent a stronger message to the GOP....absolutely not, they were already feeling that pressure far before the vote. No gain here either. Exactly who were we supposedly making this grand statement for? Was it the few people in our section that watched us get dragged off to the Gulag? Wow, that will show um. The statements were made well before the Convention and it was now time for action! Given the circumstances of that exact moment, I still feel we did the right thing. If the conditions were different and the other states were able to make a firm standing, our votes would have certainly gone to the common good.
McCain's nomination was never really in question here. He was "anointed" months ago. I still say we did the right thing. I'm quite confident that our state will be in a much better position to promote our message during the upcoming election cycles. We've been recognized as an official part of the Party and I can tell you we aren't there to make concessions, we're there to make demands. Now we need the numbers to add support. We must organize and grow our groups so we can vote into office those we put forward; just the same way we stormed the Caucuses.
Regardless of what I or anyone else says, there are bound to be a few people that are fixed in there opinion. They are in full revolution mode and running blind. They want defiant revolution without consideration of strategy or a clear goal identified. I'm not going to bad-mouth these people like they did to us....they're probably good people, just a little angry and confused right now. They'll eventually come around.
I guess the only thing that separates us is that I (we) wasn't there to make some brief fleeting statement bound for nowhere...I was there to win. Our ideological statements were heard loud and clear by MassGOP, which was as far as it was going to go anyway. I (we) took advantage of there fear of national embarrassment to make demands in furtherance of our stated goals. This is a real battle with a lot at stake and we need to start treating it that way. We're bound fail if people expect to win this battle by just waving signs and making easily marginalized statements during events. There has to be an actionable component to this mission!
Hands down, this was the hardest decision that any of us ever had to make. We considered every last persons' input and made a decision that I firmly believe was correct. We still have work ahead of us, but we now have something we've been fighting for for a long time. Now it's time to start organizing again just like we are famous for. As I said earlier, some people are simply about chronic radical revolution and nothing will change their minds. I'm not going to waste another ounce of energy trying to enlighten these people. I will pass on this little fact though...DO NOT QUESTION MY PATRIOTISM!!! ....or the patriotism of my fellow colleagues! Agree or disagree, these people rushed to my side and turned the tables on the little ambush we were the focus of. I even have great respect for those that disagreed because I fully understand the emotional nature of the vote. I totally understand their feelings...I felt them too. They are patriots, one and all.
I think people just need to figure out where they fit in. Politics IS a very dirty thing that simply isn't for everyone. I've been involved with politics on the local level long enough to know corruption is everywhere and it's ugly. If you aren't aggressive, you will be devoured, period! Politics for Pussies has been canceled. This is the real deal. I sincerely hope every last person in this movement stands tall and commits to applying relentless pressure to the corrupt. Be the change you crave. Be the media. Be the pain in their ass. Be ethical government. Find an open position in your district and TAKE your rightful seat at the table of revolution. They just love us when we make brief statements and waive signs, they love it. What they can't stand is being confronted and publically embarrassed....challenged.
Peace and Liberty to all,
Dave
Im proud of you delegates.
Im proud of you delegates. I wrote a tirade on here called 'i gotta say somethin' that was meant to encourage delegates to do the right thing. voting for john mccain being the wrong thing. It didnt have much tact but it had plenty of contact. Very pleased to hear none of our delegates did that. I think you guys are among the best we had to offer. THANK YOU!!!
Fantastic summary. You guys
Fantastic summary. You guys are really filling in the picture now.

press release on behalf of OK delegates
Although we were promised a press release by State GOP Chairman Gary Jones, nothing has happened. Here is ours.
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 4, 2008
on behalf of the Ron Paul delegates in the Oklahoma Delegation in
St. Paul Minneapolis
Last night the Oklahoma Delegation's vote total was incorrectly recorded by the convention secretary during the roll call vote.
Sen James Inhofe was presenting the report for the Oklahoma delegation. His microphone was cut off before he gave the vote totals which were 39 McCain and 2 Ron Paul (cast by legally unbound delegates). Despite Sen Inhofe's efforts and outcry from some members of the delegation, he was unable to gain the attention of the chair to correct the vote which the secretary read incorrectly as 41 votes cast for McCain by Oklahoma.
Lynn Windel, the Oklahoma National Committeeman, rushed to the front to try and correct the official roll. It is not known if the record was corrected because no correction was read by the secretary.
Whatever the record states, the public national moment for all Ron Paul supporters and delegates was lost. One Oklahoma delegate was seen openly weeping. This critical moment for Ron Paul supporters can never be recovered but an attempt must be made to make this right and have history accurately reflect each state's precious votes.
Today at a breakfast Sen Inhofe apologized to the delegation for the error. Oklahoma GOP leadership said that a press release from the state chairman correcting the matter publicly will be forthcoming.

Just a thought
From my position on the sidelines, I'd like to interject my thoughts on this. I think that some people may have caved under the pressure, and I am mad that the GOP steamrolled them. There are obviously people in the GOP that stand to lose a lot when we put a stop to their corrupt ways. Do not underestimate them, for this is war and they are the enemy. There are others that are afraid to speak up and join us because they are afraid that we are not commited enough to stick with this for the long haul. There are many sheep out there that have no clue what is going on. It may not be such a bad move to infiltrate their ranks. It is our best chance to show the ones who are scared or ignorant what we are about, as long as we do not let the enemy sway us to the dark side with lies to protect thier power and positions. We may lose a few that are weak minded to their influence, but hopefully we will gain many more than that. If you can't think of them as ambassadors for our cause, think of them as spies. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, right?
Ron Paul wasn't there
Because he wasn't allowed to be.
If you guys think you can change the Republican party 'from within' by jumping in lockstep you are out of your minds.
Of course Ron Paul doesn't want you to 'disrupt things'. Ron Paul doesn't even want to be President.
You guys got steam rolled -- shit if I were a McCain supporter I'd pretend to be your friend for a few days after you threw your support behind McCain too.
McCain is not going to win this year barring some heavy corruption -- he has absolutely no chance.
If McCain wins he just validates the EVIL of the Republican party.
You want to be more hated?
No Ron Paul republican will have a chance with a McCain ass kiss requirement.
Bush destroyed the Republican party and McCain would salt the Earth so nothing can grow back.
The weak-mindedness of our delegates is just plain sad.
WRONG!
McCain IS going to win...hands down. All the dissafected Hillary women will go for McCain now to get a womon in. Shrewd move by McCain but irresponsible to the American, people because when he croaks in office we'll be left with utter inexperience.
Bottom line...I applaud the few states who during roll call DID announce Ron Paul. Especially Alaska which went first and mentioned Dr. Paul right away! And you could hear the gasps from the Mccain stooges at the sound of his name.
AND...Thank you few brave roll call announcers of each state who did that, because you risk full repurcussions by your state party delegations including being drummed out of your positions.
WRITE-IN Ron Paul because it doesen't matter which one of these fools wins in November.
Pawnstorm
chill out grumpy smurf.. lol
look.. Ron was invited and decided not to come. That is a fact so no use arguing it anymore. You don't know this b/c you were not a delegate. There were rumors that Ron wasn't invited, so Ron made sure that this was clarified. The CFL contacted all of the delegates and let us know what was going on. They stayed in constanct contact w/ us via text message throughout the convention.
Advance planning would have
Advance planning would have gone a long, long way. Hiring pros who have been through the ringer before would have been an immense help for all of the folks who've never been in a firefight. Lesson learned. Delegate training is an absolute MUST, and it would probably be a good idea to work on tactics and negotiation stances prior to entering the lion's den next time. MOST IMPORTANTLY, these things need to take place in private discussions only. Placing ALL OF YOUR TACTICS ON THE NET is a dumb move. It's like handing over your battle plan before you deploy your troops.
delegate from NC
look.. we had a conference call with Ron Paul and Drew Ivers right before the RNC. They clearly told us NOT to disrupt the convention. That is why Ron didn't show up himself. He was invited but chose not to come.
All of this "if I was there I would have done this" talk is ludicrous. There are reasons why you were not there and reasons why we were. I am working within the party and making connections. I can assure you that I am accomplishing more from within than the "flame throwers" are from the outside.. from the sidelines.
I understand your frustration because I feel it. I feel my soul being sucked from me but it is actually making me stronger.
As far as me voting for McCain... NEVER!
Sidelines?! Urge to smash holier than thou delegates rising!

Thank you very much for becoming a delegate.
Thanks for all the delegate stories.
We have learned a lot from the experiences you are sharing.
All the negative posts on this thread are understandable, we're all angry about the way the RNC went. But the Ron Paul delegates were there through their own efforts to become delegates; and most financed their own way.
It is counter productive to waste space on a lot of complaining from non-delegates. You add nothing and make it harder to find the real stories and valuable information they offer.
Finally some posters seem to think they have some right to demand accounting from delegates who didn't act just as they wished. I remind you all that the delegates are private citizens who acted in the ways they saw best. We did not hire them or pay them. They signed no contract.
They volunteered a huge chunk of time and resources to try to support Ron Paul. If you don't like the way some individual works, get busy and find a way to do it better.
from a MAINE delegate...
here's a perspective from our one LONE MAINE DELEGATE to the RNC:
hi,
(i am a maine delegate and i am sharing, with permission, the experiences of our one LONE delegate, patrick, from maine who went to national.)
here are his thoughts:
Just thought I would share with you what's really on here at the Republican National Convention and have attached an article in yesterday's WashingtonTimes.
Fox reported that the Convention was packed. NOT true -1000's of empty seats at the convention. Fox reports we, delegates were attacked by protesters - NOT true, fifteen foot high metal fences a 1000 yards away prevented us from even seeing the protesters.
There is probably a larger contingent of military and police than there are delegates and alternate. Buses each with an armed law enforcement officials take us from the hotel to the convention each day. Upon arrival you go through two level of electronic security like the airport. Once you arrive on the convention floor, they have security guards every ten feet facing the rows of delegates.
NO delegate is allowed to speak throughout the convention. Periodically the security guards, will tell the delegates to rise and cheer. Prior to the convention, delegates were told NO banners or signs would be allowed.
At opening of the convention, the convention floor was flood with McCain banners. At different times, there were a large contingent of men with McCain baseball caps at the entranceway out of site at the entrances to the aisles.
When Joe Lieberman or one of the other McCain celebrities were introduced, the young men with red baseball caps were release and sent down the aisles to cheers and then returned to back of the convention floor to await the next cue to fill the aisle make it appear that the convention floor was filled.
Neither the platform committee nor any speaker spoke of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or the sad state of our economy. As televised on C-Span, no more than 20 minutes was devoted to any platform item.
* No platform resolution submitted by a Ron Paul delegate was approved.
* No Ron Paul delegate was selected to serve on either the Platform or Rules committee.
* No delegate/alternate had an opportunity to read the rules because they were not made available until the start of the convention.
Thus the opportunity to offer floor amendments was impossible. As Ron Paul delegate, I was made to feel like a turd in punch bowl.....may have something to do with the large Ron Paul button I was wearing and my refusal to stand amidst all the cheering for folks like Joe Lieberman.
When asked by the Maine delegationwhip if I would vote for John McCain, I told them I would be voting for Ron Paul. His reply was the Maine delegation would not announce 20 votes for John McCain and 1 for Ron Paul. Rather they would just announce 20 votes for McCain Apparently, he felt that uttering Ron Paul's name would be giving Ron Paul too much publicity.
More than one delegate shared by view that control over the delegates speech and movements along with the ever-present police seemed somewhat totalitarian and intimidating.
Were it not for the wonderful hospitality of the legion of Minneapolis and St. Paul volunteers and staff who catered to our every whim, this would have been a pretty dismal experience. Additionally, we have made several new friend across the country amidst Ron Paul and the Maine delegation.
When we get back, we will need a little rest to what future contribution we might make to get our beloved country back on track.
In closing, I would like to say a special thank to David S., Gayle F., Michael J., and my lifelong friend who helped us defray the expense of this adventure at the Republican National Convention.

Ron Paul is My President
How do we become delegate whips?
How do they know what kind of delegate you are (ron paul delegate, romney delegate, mccain delegate? Do they make you say which one?
Can you just not wear any buttons and stuff?
What would happen if you pretended to be a mccain delegate right up to the time of the official vote and then you voted for Ron Paul?
What would happen if you booed and such (in a non-disturbing way) to McCain and such?
Do you have to leave your seat when someone tells you? By what authority?
Do you have to let them search your stuff? By what authority are they claiming they can do these things? What happens if you refused?
Forgive me saying I told you so,
but I told you so. Months ago.
Welcome to the dog and pony show, GOP style.
Real conventions happen with minor parties.

Report from Idaho
A very detailed report from paul4won can be found in this thread. Noting here so it can be found with other delegate reports.
Thanks for the very informative report, paul4won!
thanks for the link
I just got in last night, typed it up and posted it before I realized this was here.
Alternate delegate
After what I have witnessed first hand and what I have read here it seems to be the same. Confusion, misunderstandings, and ignorance. The national PR delegation was new to this stage. We are no longer. This entire movement is new to 99% of us,(that includes each and every one of you reading these posts) this week we took our first exam and found out that we aren't as smart as we thought we were. And like the rest of you, I am disapointed in the whole affair. But we did get some of the answers we needed for the next test and will study the process with a better understanding of what it takes to win in this arena.
The very first thing is NUMBERS!!!!, each of you who doubt the mettle of this delegation must know that we were outnumbered (45000 to 250). So, your next task is to hit your local GOP and become active and bring people with you.
Secondly, seek out those in your groups who can speak clearly and convincingly to our cause. Have them present the case and back them up at the local levels.
Know this, this past convention was just a play, and we did not write the script. Every word you heard on TV was predetermined by those with the numbers. It was sickening to say the least.
If we can hold what we have and keep together we will start to see the party swing to our side. Most of the delegates I spoke with that supported McCain would fall into our camp without hesitation or reservation if we had been the lead dog.
Say what you will about the media coverage throughout this whole campaign, I know it fell short of fair and balanced. We have to make our voices heard with the right message and we have that, but we need many more voices. It's our job to get them, not the MSM.
I went to the RNC as analternate delegate from North Carolina. I've met some of the most genuine people I will ever meet. I've also been in the belly of the beast and right now I'm trying to get my sence of counrty back. I hope that I have not ventured from home on a wasted folly that will fall apart just because we didn't win when we stood no chance in the first place. There was no way we were going to change any of what you saw. What we hoped to change was the attitudes of those delegates who would listen to the message, and to my surprise, many did. That doesn't mean that they would change their vote to our favor this time around, it means we still have some work to do and they will be with us on the next go-around.
You all should be proud of your efforts in all of this. Our founders were just as diverse as we are today, hotheads and softspoken folk all working for the same goal.
I would like to personally thank all of you who came to MSP for the Rally. Without you all there we would have been so very alone.
The brightest moment at the Excel Center for me was as the session ended on the first night and we all filed outside to get on the buses to our hotels was hearling a lone voice off in the distance crying out "RONNNNN PAULLLLLLLL" , his name was Jamie and I went to the fence to shake his hand, it was as if all of you were there.
Next time, I'll be more prepared. Will you still be with me, will you join me and fill our ranks so that we have the say in how we are governed and not told how it is to be? Can each and every one of you spread the message that Dr. Paul has reminded us of? It's our Republic if we can keep it.
I will be with you again!
Ron Paul is the great uniter, the income tax fighter...the military-supported, defender of the border...the political apathy solution and the champion of the Constitution! Doctor Paul is on-call!
Jaustin 168, Thank you for this
very informative and well written report. Yes, we will still be with you.....we ARE still with you. Those of us who attended the Rally are more energized than ever. I am very proud of the determined stance you took for Dr. Paul. You represented us well. We know, of course that you all were up against impossible odds, and it's good to know that there are delegates who did not succumb to the arm-twisting of the GOP. Many thanks for your courage and integrity.
Lone voice....
letting us know we're not alone. Made me tear up!
I don't remember doing that
Hey, my name is Jamie! But, that wasn't me (unless I'm going schizo and both of me are RP fans).
As it happens, I did yell "FREEDOOOOMMMMM" at the end of the Freedom Drive 2002. Ahhh, the good old days, sitting around talking amongst ourselves....

"...we were outnumbered (45000 to 250)"
Was it because 10000+ Ron Paul supporters were at the Rally for the Republic? Would these supporters have better served your (i.e. the delegates) cause if these supporters had been at the RNC rather than the R4R? Was holding the R4R at the same time as the RNC a mistake in this regard? Could this many Ron Paul supporters have even gained access to the RNC?
Thanks in advance for any insight into these questions.
I doubt it but a 1000 RP'ers screaming outside the RNC would hav
have been better than the R4R.
Lesson learned.
(and yes, I loved the R4R...but didn't it seem like a pacifier)
Michael
you were a Massachusetts delegate or alternate. What is your take on what happened at the convention?
To sum it up briefly.
It was fucked up.
I was devastated.
er, wow.
Buck up, Michael. Thank you for doing your part in attending the neo-con nazi-fest. I know I speak for most people here when I say that your dedication is appreciated, and you serve as an inspiration to many of us. Don't get demoralized. Although we may not win this election, we have just begun to fight.
Why vote for the lesser of two evils when you can go all in?

How Can I put into words the betrayal I feel
Had I been able to be there, in all fairness, would I have done the same? I wanted to cry when I read the "compromising" taking place. Was that really Ron Paul's message? After months of known corruption, illegal primary counts, lying and intimidation, the delegates actually believe their reason for the compromise was just? I find that so hard to believe. How can we promote freedom and liberty, when as our elected delegates you compromised our decision, the reason we voted for you, and voted YOUR CHOICE in the end. What makes you any different than those already in power making decisions for "our own good" or in this case "your definition" of our fight for liberty. You were given a job to do by the people who elected you to do a very specific job and YOU COMPROMISED to a known criminal element of society. Pray tell, what message did you actually send out? You will never penetrate this known cabal from the inside and quite frankly, we no longer have the luxury of waiting another 2 or even 4 years. While many are aware of the deception now being played out with those in power, they still have the power and have set in motion things we cannot even comprehend. You cannot take a stand and compromise with the devil.
PyraBang for Liberty
We made NO compromise, but we felt betrayed
I feel your pain, they feel they did the best they could, we felt betrayed by fellow Ron Paul delegates.

It's very simple. We decided the long term goals were more important than abstaining because abstaining would have accomplished nothing. Contrary to what some might think, some of these republicans are good people, and are willing to work with us, as long as we show that we are not there to destroy their party but to be a part of it.
Someone mentioned before that we don't need them; that we can get enough people to vote for us for any position. Well, let me tell you this. When I ran for delegate we had about four or five Ron Paul supporters show up. I won because I convinced the regular republicans to vote for me. Our decision on Wednesday has already had a good impact on those republicans that I have come to know. We do need those people, and I believe most of them will no longer see us as outsiders as a result of our compromise. Let's face it. We didn't really give up that much. Also, showing that we are willing to work with them is a better strategy for getting them to listen to us and the ideas of liberty.
G. Edward Griffin's Freedom Force International society is about encouraging its members not only to get involved but to use the same techniques used by our enemies. That's how they got there, and that's the only way we will get there.
When I ran for delegate I purposely left out information about myself to get elected; I wanted to speak about the Fed and many other issues but I didn't want them to know who I supported. You could say this is a bit unethical, but we all know that is what we had to do to get elected. It was a strategy. This is no different. We have a goal and this goal is much bigger than just showing the party that we don't accept McCain. There is a bigger picture here. McCain was going to be the nominee regardless of our decision. We could have continued to be outsiders, or really become part of the party and start changing it from the inside. We can't call it "infiltration" because we are not doing it secretly. They already know who we are, so the best thing we can do is show them that we are not the threat they thought we were.
This is a strategy and it will work. For anyone not convinced, go to freedom-force.org and become a member. I could not be prouder of our decision. It shows we are thinking about the future.
I also want to say that I feel lucky to have met all of you. I share with you the ideas that have become a big part of who I now am. I hope we can get together every now and then.
