How do I resign from the republican party??

I'm serious. I think I've had enough. I'll drop out and register independent. I'm not being represented anyway, so why not?

I think is a few (hundred) thousand RP supporters pulled their ticket on the republican party, they'd get the message.

No matter what happens now, we're doomed as a country.

However, Ron Paul is, and always be, my president.

Stay safe...

The GOP, the Neocons, and their enablers all disgust me

and that is why I will not be quitting the fight within the GOP. The first goal is to cut out the cancer that has grown by voting out every incumbent Republican in office unless they have proven themselves worthy, this amounts to a handful in the whole country.

You can't have both

If you are going to go out don't go out quietly

Attend your next GOP meeting and ask questions, demand answers and make some noise. Let them throw you out and let others ask why.

Free and Brave
or Cradle to Grave
You can't have both

Changing your voting preference and quitting the GOP are

two different things. Most people who are registered Republicans are not members of the party.

Can you add some more

Can you add some more "color" to that comment? I'm not understanding the point.

"Most people who are registered Republicans are not members of the party."

Many have already dropped

Many have already dropped out, I'm re-registering Independent on the 11th of September. I'm taking that day back from Republican miscreants.

Auto-resignation

walk in to your local GOP with a Ron Paul sign and your out! That simple. Didn't you watch the convention?

The more I think about this, the more I think it can work...

What if 25,000 people resign from the republican party just prior to the election? What sort of message would that send? Do you think they'll misinterpret it? Or won't it even matter.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Yes…

I wonder that too… Would a mass removal from the [former] Republican Party even make any difference? Those fascist snots seem so blindingly arrogant… They seem to think the truth is a lie and vice versa. It's not my party.

DISMANTLE THE REPUBLIC

That is exactly what that they want us to do. Get rid of the GOP(=REPUBLIC). The last vestige of truly free america.

Unfortunately for us, the growing apathy over the years helped "the vipers" infiltrate the GOP for the sole purpose of sinking it,

"OPENLY" as the whole world witnessed it last night. This united States of America will be left with the "Dominant dem(ag)ocratic party", all remnant voices will be considered fringe. Get the picture?

I think it's a "Mistake to jump ship now" and play into their ploy. "The Honorable Dr. Paul" hanging on alone to save it for last 20 years.

You don't quit boxing overnight, just because you have lost a rigged match.

It is the time for all of us, ALL Liberty conscious, to stand up and join help "The Honorable Dr. Paul" finish what he started all alone.

I would have to disagree...

If this were a 'one time' anomaly, maybe I'd take your point but all I've done most of my life is vote for the lesser of two evils.

The party no longer represents or stands for my beliefs. Why would I offer them support?

Pulling support until such a time as they come back around to a more principled platform seems a no brainer.

I would chastise any democrat worth their salt to do the same. If there's no place for us at your table, don't ask us to chip in to cover the bill.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

It's easy

I went to the county courthouse, or wherever you register to vote, and ask them to change you from R to I. It's quick and free.

I only joined the GOP in 11/07 to vote in the KY primary, and changed my affiliation a few weeks later.

Wear your (I) proudly.

WHERE'S YOUR HEART!

Stay and fight hard!

Don't let them run you off!

According to County Chair you can't

I emailed my County Chair last night and received a quick response this morning. Below is posted our email exchange with names editted to protect the innocent:

"Dear Chairman,

Based on the events of last night's Republican National Convention and my increasing disgust with the socialist and imperialist policies of what the Republican party is now supporting I wish to withdraw my support and resign from the GOP. This party has left its roots and no longer stands for limited government, humble foreign policy, and fiscal conservatism. How may I go about doing this? Consider this a vote of no confidence in the local Republican party as well as any neo-conservative, George Bush administration supporters within the party.

Sincerely,

Boon

"Boon,

Since we have never met, I have no idea what you have done to participate in the Republican Party. How long have you been an activist for party principles? In how many township or other local party organizations have you participated? In which organizations are you a leader or an organizer to help develop and spread party principles and ideas? Have you ever contacted the local party leadership to attend local party functions? Have you ever contributed to a party club or organization in order to promote the issues that are important to you? Have we ever met? Have you ever introduced yourself to any township, county, state or national party leader and offered to become involved and help learn how the party operates and the way that you can become involved in party leadership? Have you reviewed the bylaws of the various township, county, state and national committees as well as the bylaws for auxillaries of the party? Have you attempted to legitmately learn about the history of how and why the party is where it is today, rather than to simply want to change something because you believe that it needs to change? Have you filed to run as a committeeman in the township in which you live?

You are welcome to contact me whenever you are interested in and prepared to invest the required amount of time and effort to become a leader for our future. Ron Paul talks a lot, but has no leadership role because he is not a Republican team player. I respect his right to act as he does but he is one of many throughtout history who have taken a position outside traditional party systems. Again, I respect his right to do so but it is like flying to Mars in a Piper Cub. Maybe it will work some day, but the "system" will change much more thoroughly and quickly by your active participation rather than your withdrawal.

Incidently, as a part of your first lesson in politics and the Republican Party, the party does not ask for your membership in the GOP, therefore you cannot resign from something that you did not join.

As Tip O'Neill sad: "All politics is local." If you have an interest in becoming involved, you will learn a lot more by becoming involved in one of the local political organizations, learn the basics of party operations, then begin to plan how to change it.

Regards

County Chair"

"Hon. Chair,

Thank you for the quick response. I understand that you would be upset receiving an email like this given how much activism you have put forth within the party over the years. Upon rereading my email, I came off rather curt. Forgive me for that as I should have taken a moment to cool off before I sent it. Know that I am in no way questioning nor belittling what you have done personally. In my opinion it is irrelevant what "service" I have done for the party. It would be true that I have probably voted party line all my life. It would be true that I have not participated in political endeavors, party meetings, etc until this past year (unless you count Bush/Quayle '92 rally). I did participate in local GOP meetings as well as my township's caucus and was selected a district and state delegate (not in a Ron Paul takeover township). Just because I used Ron Paul's words in my email, you may not make the assumption that I am a supporter. I just happen to agree with him that the party has lost its way. He would probably not condone my wishes to register independent.

Within this brief period of participation, I saw no signs of people within the party wanting to change much of anything other than add an addendum to the party platform about gambling loss limits. Most folks were content to allow a McCain nomination, a man who does not stand for traditional Republican principles. In my opinion the party does not stand for traditional Republican principles, even at the local level upon observation and I'm doing my best to continually study the history not only of the party but of the country. Granted I am not as versed or up to speed as I should be, but I am trying to get there.

Again, I apologize for upsetting you and thank you for handling me as best you could. You have answered my question. Thank you for the political lesson. I wish you the best in the future.

a word of advice...

...your vote to an independent in the general election (i still hold that paul will endorse someone) as a republican will do more to undermine their strategies in this election than you changing to independent to do so. they can use that for their strategic campaigning.

now, next election? whole different story. the movement will grow, the debates will open up, the right candidate will surface. if we work hard and stay together.

Typically...

...you simply just go to your DMV, and register as something other than Republican. In FL, we registered as independents.

Please stay and fight

One of the main missions of the Campaign for Liberty is to take the GOP back to its roots. To accomplish that, we need as many Republicans, new and existing, to retake the GOP, from the ground up, for true Republicanism, individual liberty, sound monetary policy, limited government, a non-interventionist foreign policy and the Constitution.

Hey Jkap

I tried to reason with these people last night. I don't know if its a concentrated effort by a select few to put us back in the box. Though it sure feels like it. Yes I view the third parties as a little box the power elite can put us in and tuck us away. It's all rigged. How are the third parties not rigged?

<sarcasm on>

the big tent party would NEVER act like that....trying to get us in some little box
sarcasm off>

i watched the roll call, and it has been proven to me that they will just ignore us. little, little men with their big erasers....they 'move' to make the nomination unanimous????

why should someone associate with lying scum? i personally won't stoop to that level any more!

Take the Direct Approach

Threaten the local party chair with physical violence.

That ought to do it.

Local rules vary

In Alaska, you can be registered either as Non-Partisan, Undeclared, or Republican and still be allowed to vote in the closed Republican primaries. Your other choices here are Alaskan Independence Party, Democrat, Libertarian, and Green, and they share a combined primary ballot that any of them may vote, along with the Non-Partisan or Undeclareds.

Here, being registered (R) makes you an (R) member. You have to be registered (R) to work and serve in the party.

So, the moral of the story is: check your local rules, call your local GOP office. Tell them why you are upset and why you want to leave the party. And tell us what they say.

I

agree. The election is rigged and he is already picked no matter if its Mcinsane or Osama. Both are one in the same. I'm thinking Osama because he is related to Bushwacker. People who vote for either of the 2 morons will deserve everything they get. As for me I will write in Ron Paul if allowed here,if not I won't vote at all.WE are screwed!!!!

Go to where you regestered

and ask how it is done in your county.

You'll probably have to go Independent which means you cannot vote in the Primary (in MANY states) like PA.

Check out your own state and go from there. Primaries are important too!

You could change and then change back if you so desire before next primary. Makes no difference this fall.

But, will send a message!

Primaries are important?

Not from what I've seen...

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Well, that may be true for you

but we want to have the option - after all, we want to rebuild from the bottom-up.

Research the candidate and vote for like minded people. You can't vote them in office if you can't get then through the primaries.
