FreedomList: In Search of Representatives of Liberty
Not only do "We the People" need President Ron Paul to take the oath of office in January 2009, we also need to draw leaders from our midst to go to Washington with him as representatives of Liberty, if not as elected representatives, then as a voluntary Liberty Corps to assist in the restoration of the Constitution to its rightful place in our society. Such grassroots selected leaders, working hand-in-hand with a President Paul, will be critically necessary for bringing this country back on course to the noble destination that the Founding Fathers intended.
The Ron Paul Revolution is giving us this opportunity to focus, not just on the presidential election campaign, but on our full responsibilities as citizens. If we intend to restore the Republic, I suggest that it is imperative that we begin to plan now for the election, not just of Dr. Ron Paul, but also for the election to office of liberty-minded people, en masse all across the country, at every level.
We need a new kind of activism as desperately as we need a new President in the White House! We must do more. We cannot leave the other bases uncovered. We cannot put him in Washington V.C. (Vampire City) as our President to face the elitist vampires alone. We simply cannot!
As a ten-term congressman, he is certainly accustomed to being a lone voice crying in the wilderness. However, as President, he would be the target of all the venom which the elitists could muster.
I can never forget the image of Dr. Paul standing alone on the stage at the New Hampshire debate pleading with the television audience regarding the specter of a potential nuclear holocaust beginning in the Middle East, saying:
“Tonight we hear that we are not even willing to remove from the table a pre-emptive nuclear strike against a country that has done no harm to us directly and is no threat to our national security….We have to come to our senses...about this issue of war and pre-emption and go back to traditions and our constitution and defend our liberties and defend our rights, but not to think that we can change the world by force of arms and start wars" (emphasis added).
Ron Paul and those who come to lead after him will need our dedicated, proximal assistance in order to expose the secret, elitist-controlled government and its attendant evils. A great many of us must get active...even more active than any of us has, perhaps, ever imagined. The future of the Republic and the world hangs in the balance.
Accordingly, I am inviting everyone to start seeking out potential candidates and prospective members of our Liberty Corps and listing their names here. I also would like to suggest that someone think about how we could create a data base to which individuals could directly add names to a growing list, much like names are added to online petitions, rather than the names showing up only in separate comments to this post.

Dr. Paul overseas
Afternoon Likkerish,
It's amazing that there are several Ron Paul organizations outside the US.
Maybe I should not be amazed. It is the universal apeal of liberty.
But still, do you or anyone else know if the other 17 or 18 people running have such overseas organizations? I would be curious.
Liberty and prosperity at home, peace abroad,
allies
Now that I've got the password thing fixed.
Did you get my email concerning my discussion via email with Mr. Redlich?
One name we should consider to take the 14th district of Texas in Rand Paul, the doctor's son.
Liberty and prosperity at home, and peace abroad.
Allies Revisited
Yes, Freesworld, I did get your email. Thank you for taking the initiative in contacting Mr. Redlich.
Regarding your suggestion of Dr. Rand Paul, Dr. Ron Paul's son, as a potential candidate in his father's 14th District of Texas, I would point out that Rand does not live in Texas. If I am not mistaken, he currently practices in Kentucky. Would he be willing to relocate? Probably not, but who knows? His Dad moved there from Pennsylvania, and Rand might be interested in riding on his father's 20 year-long coat tails. On the other hand, he could run for office in his area.
I ran across another very interesting thinker and writer. His name is James Bovard. He is the author of The Attention Deficit Democracy and Lost Rights. The Wall Street Journal has called him "the roving inspector general of the modern State." Bovard has also written, Freedom in Chains: The Rise of the State and the Demise of the Citizen (St. Martin’s Press, 1999).
The following link is to an article related to the last mentioned book which he calls "Political Accounting." This is reprinted on a page called, "Governments as Pathological Lying Screw-ups."

GOVERNMENT OF WE-THE-POPLE
How about looking at this effort as... The U.S. Government of We-The-People...?
I am not an expert on this... however, should we not have here an expert on the Constitution / Administration... who could help in putting a structure for a Federal Government... Departments...? Agencies...?
What should be Federal... and what should be NOT... what should be administrated/governed by the lower level of State/Regional/Municipal Governments...
As to the Federal... House and Senate... are elected... how / by whom...? Meetup Groups are coming to mind... We-The-People, need to get actively involved and win the control back in the POWER CENTERS OF THE NATION... and Meetup Groups are a sound base to build upon...
The man I know of... who can possibly help and provide some input to our effort is G. Edward Griffin... yes, the author of...

I will send a note to Edward... hopefully he will drop by... and help here...
The Constituition is the Answer to Our Woes
What should be Federal... and what should be NOT... what should be administrated/governed by the lower level of State/Regional/Municipal Governments...
Well the U.S. Constituition tell us what should be a Federal matter and everything else is left to the States or the People (10th Amendment).
We don't need to reinvent the wheel, just get back to the Government set-up by those brilliant minds over 200 years ago.
Former New York Candidate for Congress
Warren Redlich, an attorney from the Albany area, ran for Congress in 2004 and 2006. He appears to have a lot of views in common with Ron Paul as evidenced by his blog, although he does favor open immigration and support for Israel. One of his posts also appears to support Dr. Paul in the current election. A sampling from his blog follows:

Perhaps, someone from a Meetup group nearby could make contact with him.
R.P. Shadow Cabinet Project
BTW: consider a shorter heading for this forum... a few words that will catch the spirit... IMHO "R.P. Shadow Cabinet Project" would do...
VPs?
Has anyone been thinking about VPs yet? I'm hoping for Walter Williams.

How Can We Access The Existing Resources...?
IMHO we have this great grass-root "untapped" movement in Meetup Groups... and... the phoenix-rising... a true rebirth, can be only accomplished from the bottom UP... as pointed to us in...

Freedom Force => Holographic R.P. Meetup Groups
http://www.freedomforcein...
At the moment contact data to all Meetup Groups membership is on the http://www.ronpaul2008.co... computer [as per PYRAMID organizational structure]... and we need a FLAT - Holographic organizational structure...
There must be one who is in charge of Meetup Groups at Ron's HQ... and that person may help in organizing a drive for creation of the Shadow Cabinet for Ron Paul...
Meetup Groups are already there... and more are being form every day... a starting point for We-The-People to get involved in local organizations... building from the BOTTOM... UP...
As per today's scenario, without a solid BASE/FOUNDATION... the new structure will be too hollow to withstand the earth quicks and opposing winds...
A person of statue, like you Likkerish could contact the HQs and see if they would release to you email addresses to all meetups members...
or... if they would send a news release to all about the Shadow Cabinet idea and provide a link here or to a new forum dedicated to this project...
otherwise maybe there would be one or a group among We-The-People that would signup to each meetup... and send the news on the Shadow Cabinet Project to meetups membership...
IMHO... the Shadow Cabinet Project... and Taking The Power Back - building a strong foundation from the bottom UP... is the way to go...
Potential Ronpublican Candidates, Cabinet Members, or Allies
Okay, I'm going to get things rolling....
Robert Higgs, Ph.D. is a very interesting person and prolific writer. He is Senior Fellow in Political Economy for The Independent Institute and Editor of the Institute's quarterly journal The Independent Review.
He has a strong appreciation of classical liberalism, which is the political philosophy that fits most closely with Ron Paul's views.

Thomas Jefferson is regarded as a classical liberal, and Judge Andrew Napolitano has called Ron Paul "the Thomas Jefferson of our day."

Dr. Higgs was heavily influenced by Murray N. Rothbard and recently quoted him in a memoriam to Rothbard's life (June 11, 2007):
On the nature of the state: The State has its own agenda, that is...all States everywhere are run by a ruling class, the people running the State, and one of their interests is to extend as well as maintain the power and wealth arising from that rule.
Dr. Riggs ends the memoriam with:
"I was honored to know Murray Rothbard and privileged to work with him in a number of conferences and programs organized by the Mises Institute. I hold him to have been one of our century's great intellectual figures, whose neglect by mainstream academicians is inexcusable. He stimulated my thinking and enlarged my knowledge. My personal association with him brought me much pleasure. I do not expect to encounter another like him, and his passing grieves me greatly."

Dr. Higgs was a recent recipient of the Thomas S. Szasz Award, "a tribute conferred annually by the Center for Independent Thought for the avocation of civil liberties and to encourage others to work to protect personal autonomy from state encroachment" (emphasis added).
Thomas S. Szasz, M.D., is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York.
Long regarded as a maverick, Dr. Szasz has argued that mental illness does not exist, but is a metaphor. He claims that it is best described as 'problems of living,' and psychiatry glosses over this difference. He has opposed use of the insanity plea in criminal cases, arguing that criminal law should be allowed to work unimpeded when a person has committed a dangerous act.
Dr. Szasz maintains that psychiatry has become a repressive arm of the modern, bureaucratic state, a tool for social control, because it can be used to imprison innocent people by 'civil commitment' simply because their thought patterns are considered aberrant.
