Delegate Dennis Rothacker from FL opened this story when he sent the following urgent text message:
*"We just had a group shot of all the RP delegates and alternates, the secret service came and started searching everyone and took anything RP related. We got it on video though..."*
Today at the Republican National Convention, as the Ron Paul Delegates were taking a picture in front of the model White House inside the Convention Center, they were surrounded by Secret Service which proceeded to search the bags of all the delegates. They took everything related to Ron Paul including signs, buttons, videos, slim jims, cards, even books. "This is an obvious and outrageous violation of our first amendment rights" said Nathan Hanson, attorney and Delegate from MN.
Alternate Delegate Dennis Rothacker from Florida said "We were done taking the picture when Secret Service started walking into the room and surrounded us. There were about 30 of them. When they searched my bags they took my Ron Paul sign and turned a deaf ear to my complaints, they just walked away." Another delegate said that the people surrounding them were wearing red McCain hats and identified themselves as police to him.
Delegate Ron Warner from Fairbanks, Alaska added that as he was walking into the convention center today with about 15 Revolution Manifesto books, 20 DVD's for Delegates, 20 Ron Paul buttons and a handful of other things, he was stopped by security which called on upon an apparent supervisor, who directed all the materials to be confiscated. She told him, "You can't bring that in here, this is McCain territory"
Dennis, Ron and the other delegates report being openly followed by Secret Service. Dennis says that delegates known to support Ron Paul had been openly monitored from the beginning of the convention, but that now they are being shadowed constantly by these people.
There are also reports of delegates being approached by security and told that they will be summarily thrown out if they leave their assigned chair, and are advised not to walk around.
Delegate Corey Sax From MN's district five was on the floor and he witnessed six oral votes for Ron Paul out of a forty something total delegation. These votes were counted, but not read aloud by the RNC in the count or shown in the screen. He and others said that they thought there was an obvious attempt to suppress the votes casted for Ron Paul.
Corey says that Ron Carey and Tim (last name missing) witnessed the RNC tell them that they had technical difficulties and that was the reason for not reading the votes for Ron Paul. He says that the same happened to the Texas delegation and the delegation from other states. He clearly stated that illegal under-counting of delegates votes was going on across many states delegations. It appears that the number of votes casted for Ron Paul were not read aloud or posted on the screen.
Adam Weigold, Delegate from MN, reported that today he has been approached at least five times by other delegates at large who ask him to borrow his pass to go the bathroom. From his conversation with other delegates, he believes that this is part of an orchestrated effort because many of them have been approached. Without their pass credentials, they would not be able to claim their seat or remain at the
convention.
Other delegates who gave interviews were Jeff Austin, from NC, and Nathan Hanson, a delegate and attorney from MN.
The delegates remain at the convention center till 10:30 or 11:00PM. They were planning to approach the media and demand that this obvious disregard for the first amendment and for their votes in a national US election for president be reported by the national media.

Delegate Thomas McMahon, Pledged Ron Paul Delegate for North Carolina's District 12 was present at the incident in front of the mock White House inside the Convention Center. He said that they were surrounded by "black, white and yellow hats" who are RNC personal wearing those color McCain hats, and were asked to show the contents of their bags.
McMahon said that a fellow delegate from OK asked to see a security badge and refused to be searched. The RNC personnel then called an uniformed police officer who told the OK delegate that because he has on private property he had to consent to the search. McMahon added that the people surrounding them, in addition to the "colored hats" were RNC Committee on Arrangement personnel, uniformed police officers, security, and men wearing identifying Secret Service jackets. He says that he saw the S,S,observing, but not doing any searches.
Thomas McMahon added that the he voted for Ron Paulat the national convention. That the NC Republican party negotiated with the RNC to have the votes be read aloud and shown in the screen. He says that the RNC didn't read the Ron Paul votes aloud and they claimed that the speaker system malfunctioned.
This adds, North Carolina to the list of States in which the RNC claims that the speaker system "malfunctioned" at the exact time that Ron Paul votes were being read. So far this has been confirmed for Minnesota, Texas, and North Carolina.

Each state chairman was given 45 seconds to report. At the end of 45 seconds, the mike was cut. Soooo if a chairman timed it right, he could report the McCain votes, and Ron Paul votes would be unheard over the P.A. system. (can you just picture the neocon, koolaid drinking chairmen in their rooms, practicing their reporting speeches, timing themselves and adding wording to ensure that the Ron Paul votes didn't get counted?!)
Our Chairman DID report Oregon's 4 Ron Paul votes, the woman onstage repeated them and they were shown on the screen. I also heard Alaska's 5 Ron Paul votes reported, (boos from the audience) Alaska's votes were repeated and shown on the screen.
I heard at least 2 more states report Ron Paul votes, but can't remember which states.
You are mistaken
The Ron Paul votes never where counted out loud or shown on-screen, however some states announced them on the PA system, my state tried to time it right that way the "5 for Ron Paul" would have been drown out by the Clapping, it almost worked. You said the crowd boo-ed at us Alaskans??? HA! Damn Neo-Cons!!

Therefore-----if your State Chairman wanted to suppress Ron Paul votes, all he/she had to do was to extend the time of their speech for over 45 seconds, and then their mike would be cut!
At the end of your video you can clearly hear Oregon's votes being recorded aloud.
I am not accusing Senator Inhofe of anything, but he did know he had 45 seconds to report! It isn't beyond my suspicions that Senator Inhofe's being 'clearly confused' is nothing but an ACT!

I am so greatful to those Ron Paul delegates... you are heroes!
Many sleeping people saw what transpired and will be transformed. Just as McDonalds runs ads over and over, there is a reason... repitition is an effective tool in getting people to think...and we need to keep reminding them we are here.
Emotion is also an important tool because it embeds the memory.
Everytime we agrievate the sleeping Republicans and Democrats we embed a memory... and everytime we show ourselves as concerned and non-violent we further the confusion in their own mind...
Just remember the story of the tortose and the hare.... the hare was easily distracted and althought the tortose appeared to be so slow...it eventually won with determination and purpose.

Just thinking...
Some of these allegations seem pretty strange. For example, why would any delegate need to borrow another delegate's tags "to go to the bathroom"? What happened to their own tags? (You can't get onto the floor, or even into the building without your tags. And even if you did, you wouldn't have any trouble leaving to go to the bathroom. Coming back might be a problem, however.)
And who would be dumb enough to give up their tags in a case like this?
I guess you would have to have been there to know how unlikely this sounds.
Maybe Adam Weigold could be persuaded to come on here and describe this particularly bizarre "strategy".
