The expenses can be huge for small businesses suddenly required to retro-fit buildings to comply with ADA. Not to mention, it was likely supported by big business as a way of "knee-capping" their smaller competition that could less afford it.
I don't like any legislation that gives people status as a "protected" class...I think we should all be given equal protection under the law (hmmm...sounds familiar, right?) and no one should receive more/less than anyone else.
Lastly, I don't think it's the government's business. If a person has been harmed in some way, they have the ability to seek damages in court.
The costs for implementing and policing this thing have been staggering.
Here is the ADA's purpose.....and pay special attention to the last line:
The ADA is a wide-ranging civil rights law that prohibits, under certain circumstances, discrimination based on disability. It affords similar protections against discrimination to Americans with disabilities as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which made discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, and other characteristics illegal. Disability is defined as "a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity." The determination of whether any particular condition is considered a disability is made on a case by case basis. Certain specific conditions are excluded as disabilities, such as current substance abusers.
Why wouldnt anyone who was disabled be included...and it lets the bureaucrats decide "who" is disabled....and I am sure this wouldnt be paid for with donations either!!!!

to a way to force small business to dump tons of money on useless things or face serious penalties. It was a predatory piece of legislation that came from honest roots.
As he should
