I got a meetup message that there should be a welcoming party for RP when he arrives at the studio. The message had a time of 12 noon.
I got to the studio around 1:30 and there were 2 people waiting for the show. They were not there to see RP but had come from out of state because they got tickets for the show.
We spoke a little bit about RP and one of them mentioned that her favorite book was Atlas Shrugged. I told her that I have not read the book but know that many of RP supporters have and quote from it frequently. (At least that is what I have seen here on the DP) She really lit up and became very interested. Well, after some more conversation, she told me that she had one extra ticket and that I could use it if I wanted to. I was so happy.
So to make a long story short, I went into the studio to see the show and did not wait outside to welcome Dr. Paul. I really wanted to be in the audience to clap for him and cheer him on. He looks fantastic. He came onto the stage and sat down at the round table. He had a wonderful smile on his face and as people in the audience waved at him, he happily waved back. I would say he was a ray of light. Very relaxed and comfortable. It was so great to be there.
I hope that some of the standby crowd waiting to get in, might have been able to greet him whenever he finally did arrive.
Well, it was really great, I'm very thankful to have been there! There are a lot of potential Ron Paul people out there that just don't know it yet.
.
It was good to see RP looking relaxed and in fairly casual attire. He gave as good as he got, and had a playful demeanor. Too bad Colbert couldn't really ask some good questions - but any exposure on national TV is probably helpful.

it may have saved a life. After watching the RNC and all those lying, gloating self satisfied bastards I was about to suffer an apoplectic stroke or go on a shooting spree. Then I saw Ron Paul and Stephen Colbert, two of the people I most like to see on TV, together, enjoying each others company, and the world seemed to make sense again.

to know if he ever mentioned what party he supports, but i guess in a lot of ways its better for both Steven and Dr. Paul, because no specific preference means its viewed more openly by more people. Ron Paul's great. I think a lot of what first turned me to Ron Paul is the humble way he presents himself. I heard John McCain's name mentioned more times in the twenty minutes I watched the RNC then I think I heard Ron Paul's during the whole Rally. With the RNC it was about glorifying, with the Rally it was about the message.
He's a Progressive (a double-speak word if there ever was one), so he supports Social Democrats. After the 2004 election he and John Stewart were really bummed out that the Dems didn't win, like it would have made a difference.
I hate this outlook. First, off they weren't "bummed out." Second, it would have made a difference. I despise how so many people in this group just put everyone else together outside this viewpoint and remove all possibility of difference within outside viewpoints. It's appalling. Regardless of viewpoints though, it would have made a huge difference because the current people in office are sick fucking assholes who could give a shit about you, me, or the country. Not everyone who does not support our viewpoints is like that!!! How difficult is it to conceive of matters in a complex way instead such a narrow simple minded way.
"Stephen Colbert" is independent, but that's mostly to allow him to attack anything he wants. Stephen Colbert the person was never really political till Stewart joined the daily show. Colbert was working on it when Kilborn was still hosting. So it's really hard to say. He describes himself as a democrat, but he seems way too intelligent to be defined by party labels. So he is a democrat but i would say that's a result of the times and not a pure reflection of his ideology.
Ron Paul was hilarious there. He even had Colbert break down with genuine laughter at one point, which is kinda rare for him. He usually keeps his fake-Republican bizarre demeanor going, but when Dr. Paul said "no, their still captured," Colbert nearly fell over laughing. That was awesome.

I was in Minneapolis at nearly every event with Dr. Paul, and they RAN HIM RAGGED.
Sunday the walk to the Federal Reserve building for a speech.
I estimate 3000 signitures on Monday afternoon at Borders---then to a park to speak---then to another speech Monday night---then all day Tuesday--The Rally, interviews, teaching events, lots of press, etc.
He even showed up at the Lone Tree Club after the Rally with hundreds of yelling Paulites!
I am utterly amazed at what he does at 73 years old and I wish him many more years of Liberty to come!

the two candidates smiles are fake, because they are fake!!! I guess a lot of people don't see that, but we do! And our dear, dear doctor is the real deal, the genuine article. What a quick and great sense of humor he has - can spar with the best of them and beat them at their own game!!
It's great to know that our bumperstickers won't go to waste.
Wouldn't it be funny and thought provoking if everyone crossed out the 8 and wrote in a 9 on their bumperstickers. People everywhere would wonder what's up with that. It could keep the Campaign For Liberty interest building for people to know that we are still in it to affect change now, and not waiting for 4 more years of Washington abuses.
that's how we get the message out. Pretty cool that Dr. Paul and the Campaign For Liberty are getting a lot of positive coverage. Now that the Republican Party and the controlled MSM feel that our message can do them no harm (hee, hee), the pundits seem to be trying to make amends for the rude way in which they treated Ron during the primary run-up.

You missed all of the awesome anti-global warming and kill Iran... peacefully with sanctions ads. Absolutely rediculous!
The daily show had some good stuff, too. Especially Samantha B's segment where she talked to various people about Palin's daughter's pregnancy. Everyone was all supportive of her decision to keep the baby and that the media should stay out of it. Samantha was mock trying to describe what it was that Palin's daughter decided to do. You know when you have two or more options, and you need to pick one, what is the word for that? CHOICE! She was free to CHOOSE to keep the baby, but she doesn't want anyone else to have that choice. None of the people wanted to admit that she was pro-choice.
BTW, I AM pro-choice myself. Think of it as self defense. If you don't want the baby in you, that means the baby is tresspassing on your property, and you have the right to defend your property by removing whoever or whatever it is that is intruding. Yup, I went there.
I'm pro-choice, too. INDIVIDUAL choice. So wait til he/she is 18, then ask 'em if they want to be 'aborted'. Ain't your life, ain't your 'choice' to make.
So if a 9-month old fetus (i.e. same as a 1 second old baby) is "trespassing" in your space, you can kill it? How about if your 1 second old baby is trespassing in my space, can I kill it too?
You know Colbert is of the socialist Left, but unlike most of them, he can weld some good critical attacks against Libertarianist philosophy. Good in the sense, it requires a well thought out response that handles their premises and objections, yet proves the libertarian position.
For that reason, I would like to see Colbert in another format, an noncomedic format.

well if you havent figured by now...
he is papa bear bill oreilly's spoof with double speak and satire. He praises the neocons with the help of satire.
So if a guy who has never watched Colbert report and would see an episode would think he was a right winger.
An occasional viewer would think he is a left leaning liberal.
But his avid fans aka ME . would say he is an independent who thinks both parties are a disgrace.
