Montana Constitution Party Puts Ron Paul on November Ballot for President
Posted by Eric A. Garris at 06:58 PM

The Montana Constitution Party has removed Chuck Baldwin from the ballot and is putting the ticket of Ron Paul for President and Michael Peroutka on the ballot for Vice-President.

Ron Paul was aware that the party planned to do this, and has said that as long as he can remain passive and silent about the development, and as long as he need not sign any declaration of candidacy, that he does not object.

A group in Louisiana has also filed to have Ron Paul's name on the ballot for President under the "Louisiana Taxpayers Party" label.

For much of the year, activists in both the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party asked Ron Paul's permission to run him on the ballot for President in November, but he repeatedly declined.

It is a great shame that he did not agree to this for other states. Ron Paul could have been the candidate of a broad coalition, regardless of how active he would have sought the office. Instead, we have a group of inferior third party candidates competing for the pro-freedom, anti-government vote.

Ron Paul declining their

Ron Paul declining their invitations was not the problem. The problem was and continues to be that both the Libertarian and Constitution parties both knew Ron Paul was worth rallying behind, but they FAILED TO ACT.

The Constitution Party wanted Ron Paul to be their nominee.

The Libertarian Party wanted RP to be theirs.

And Ron Paul wanted to run as a Republican.

If the Constitution Party and Libertarian Party are both so supportive of Ron Paul, to the extent of both inviting him to be their nominee - then why in the world didn't they WORK TOGETHER and rally behind Ron Paul, regardless of the political label that he used???

They had the opportunity to do something historic, something completely unprecedented - but they appear to have let us down.

Maybe next time we have this sort of opportunity to change our nation and the world for the better the Constitutional and Libertarian parties will look back at 2008 and decide to do what is right. Rally behind principles and integrity, not behind political labels.

Oh, and BTW, I do think it's great that Ron Paul will be on the ballot in Montana. I hope he ends up on the ballot in my state as well.

A lot of residents of

A lot of residents of Montana must be feeling very lucky! Imagine going to vote have and actually having Ron Paul's name already on the ballot!

Now you tell me!

After all the work I did making a new home for my big RON PAUL sign in St. Paul.

Great!

Let's do it! All states!

I posted this on the Las Vegas Ron Paul Meetup. I will try to contact the constitution party now.

I sent this off

"Hello,

My name is (Gmartine). I am a Nevada resident, Republican Clark County delegate and Ron Paul supporter. I believe that the time for the constitution party to rise can be now. I have a simple yet extraordinary proposal not just from me, but from the million of us Ron Paul supporters.

We are asking that the constitution part have Ron Paul be granted ballot access for your presidential nominee. We are also very supportive of a Chuck Baldwin vice presidency. This ticket can finally bring down the power of the 2 big government war parties and finally bring back the ideals of liberty and freedom to this land.

Your humble voter,

(Gmartine)"

not too elegant, maybe brash. but I am sure they would at minimum realize that Chuck Baldwin would gladly serve as Ron Paul's vice president.

and no I didn't send the email with Gmartine,,

here is the response I got

"
Dear (gmartine):

Thanks for your email. We would love to have Ron Paul be the presidential candidate of the CP. As you may know, he was offered the position last March a month before our national convention in Kansas City. However, he turned it down as he had decided to run again for his congressional seat in Texas. Had he accepted, Baldwin would have almost certainly been the VP nominee.

With just one or two exceptions nearly every state requires that the presidential and vice presidential candidates submit a written request giving their consent to be on a state ballot. West Virginia and Louisiana are two exceptions that come to mind. Unfortunately, Ron Paul will not agree to do this. Also many states require that the presidential and vice presidential candidates be submitted to the Secretary of State about 70 days prior to the General Election. That means that even if Ron Paul were to change his mind, the filing deadline is past.

In view of this our only choice is to work as hard as we can to get as many votes for Chuck Baldwin this yearas possible and then work hard and furiously to build a strong CP in as many states as we can in the next two years. If we do that, then I think we have a good chance of getting Ron to run on the CP in 2012. That is just the reality of the situation. Any third party has got to build from the ground up for long term success.

Again, I appreciate your email and hope that knowing this you will do all you can to do your part in the state of Nevada. The strenght of the CP lies here in the West.

My best to you,

Frank Fluckiger"

is the Western States Area Chairman of the CP.

If this is true.....

"...the presidential and vice presidential candidates submit a written request giving their consent to be on a state ballot."

How are they going to work it in Montana? Are they another one of these "exceptions"....?

This is great news!

The more states the better but look at it this way, even those of us living elsewhere will be able to support Ron and his ideals/platform by donating and supporting these efforts in states where his name IS on the ballot.

How ill the networks handle it? Reminds me of back in the 70's or 80's when a Libertarian candiate (it might have been Ron) got 12% in Alaska in the Presidential election and all they would show on TV was a total of 88% for the other two candidates, no mention whatsoever of the missing 12%.

As I posted

in the Louisiana post - EVERY STATE should do this. In fact, we should have a Ron Paul on presidential ballot bomb day where everyone does this - in every state - on the same day.

Awesome news. Those people inspire. A ray of hope in a rapidly evolving world of darkness and falsity. Makes me want to fight for this country still (even if it is peopled with morons).
