As anyone who's ever been involved in local politics knows, teachers/police/fire-fighters unions turn out their members in droves and get their way. In New Hampshire, there are LOTS of LOUD activists that don't let it happen without a fight, which is why it's such a low-tax state.

A few cities in New Hampshire have spending caps, which cap the growth rate of spending to the inflation rate. Activists have manged to get ballot petitions for new spending caps in 4 cities this year, including Manchester (the largest city in NH and where this video was taken). The alderman against this are trying to make this vote happen in a special election, rather than during the General Election (Nov 4) because they know that turnout is lower in the special elections and they think they might be able to defeat it by turning out the government unions in high numbers. That's what this protest is about.

Are there any spending caps in your town? If you tried to get one on the ballot, would you have enough help to be successful? And if you were successful, would you have this many allies to fight to make sure your voice was heard? Have you ever stood up to your government like this? We do in New Hampshire. Fighting for liberty is AWESOME! :D
