*comes out of the shadows* Hi there, name is John, I'm a 19 year old Computer Repair Technician at a small town computer store and I just figured I'd finally register now after lurking here for at least a year.
I've seen the good times and the bad times that have gone on here from outside looking in, I'm fairly firmly planted in Ron Paul's message, we do have inalienable rights, and are guaranteed those rights including the right to practise one's religion the way they see fit. I was the first one to vote for Ron Paul in my county when the polls opened on Virginia's Primary day, my dad was the second one. We know that Ron speaks the truth and is only a messenger (but a damn good one at that), as I fondly note Colognepaulist's sig, "Doctor Paul cured my apathy." well he did, I used to be one of these people that tried to think the best of Bush and what was going on but man when my eyes were opened it all just kinda hit me, I was saddened, angry, and in disbelief, but I simply followed the white rabbit, and now I'm awakened and here. (Matrix reference)
Anyway, just from my lurking rounds I'd like to indicate a few people that seemed cool to me: Iamvoting4RonPaul, SSgt_AF, Manystrom, cyndezu, legalizeliberty, Liberty_Belle, and some others, ya'll are all cool in your own way and I think the timing on this post is good I mean the RNC screwed all awakened Americans over with its "coronation" of McInsane, but I see people posting about voting for other parties or giving up. I haven't even had as much support in my beliefs as some of you guys, and yet you want to give up? No, that's not what I'll do. I will see if my state supports write-ins, if it does I will write in Ron Paul, otherwise I am NOT voting. My dad said this, I agree, There's just no one to vote for, and the only person worth voting for got censored by the statist media.

Greetings, John. I understand your position, but please reconsider your options as we approach the election. It's only natural that liberty-minded people tend to act independently of other people. However, there are times when people must compromise for the greater good.
You said that you would like to write in Ron Paul's name. That would be a total waste. Dr. Paul, himself, has stated that write-in votes will mean little or nothing. And staying home is a slap in the face to all those who shed their blood just so you could cast your own ballot. Do you have any idea how many people in the world would love to be able to have a say in who gets to be their leader? Our elections aren't perfect, but at least we still hold them.
Let's face it, it's not realistic at this late date to think that we can enjoy a victory on Election Day. But we can have a measurable impact on the outcome that might possibly cause people to wake up and listen if we'll only work together and speak with one voice through the remainder of the campaign.
The day AFTER the election, the media will immediately round up all their "experts" to analyze the statistical data to see why the LOSER LOST, not why the WINNER WON. If we ALL unite around a third party candidate -- any third party candidate with significant ballot access -- our votes will be heavily scrutinized. We WILL have made a difference if it affects the outcome of the election. That's the only weapon we have. Please think about it.

the lurker.I myself was somewhat of a lurker for awhile,I had only seen the main front page posts for several months 'til I recognized there were a list of topics and this was a interactive forum.At first I thought it was a Ron Paul news source like the War Room or Ron Paul 2008.But after commenting on some very heated exchanges at Youtube I finally wandered into the forums here.I've since built my own website with six interactive forum catagories and a blog.

I enjoyed reading your first post and your perspective as a "lurker"! Don't you worry... there are many here that are NOT giving up and will continue to push the momentum we have gained! This is a tug of war and some are going to let go of the rope or try to pull in different directions...so the rest of us will just have to dig our heels in and pull all the harder!
I will always vote my conscience as the fine example of Ron Paul has inspired me to do! Stay true to your principles and fight for what you believe!

ballots give an option to vote for other, unless there has been a change
since 2004 or 2006, I have voted absentee ballot during the primaries
and also general elections to make sure my votes went to those who I marked.
Ron Paul was not on the ballot in 2004 so i voted for the Constitution
party candidate.

I am dumbfounded and vexed by its sudden disappearance.

and YOU MUST READ THE CONSTITUTION! YOU MUST!
Don't tell me you are for Ron Paul and that you have yet to read the constitution.
Remember that the congress is not allowed to do anything the constitution
does not say they can do.
And what the constitution says they shall do only they are supposed to do.
If it says that congress shall declare war then only congress can declare war. The congress can not pass on their duty to declare war to the president or anyone else. Why? Because the constitution does not say that they can.

But I have read the critical parts of the Consititution, granted I haven't sat down and read the *entire* thing YET but I do know that the 16th Amendment is technically illegal because it was NOT properly ratified, and I know that another amendment was quietly painted over by detractors of the Constitution after the Civil War. I know the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 10th Amendment as well.
I'm getting there :-)

Ah so he's the polar opposite of me....
He must be fit and buff and all that while not showing much interest in the intellectual side. Me, I'm your average person that sits around on the computer a lot, with a little more to love in physical terms, but I'm an intellectual as well, I fix people's computers, and I have a good sound mind.

My son is an electrician.He installs the wires that run the computers.I guess we are all connected!
My dad did a lot of electrical work in earlier years...
so I guess we really are on the same page :-) and I do computer electrical work when I hook up the various parts of a PC lol
