HILARIOUS! (Rockstars DON'T want McLame/Painlin to use their music)!
Will McCain's Heart Stop?
Whether the campaign needs permission to play "Barracuda."

Read our complete coverage of the GOP Convention and Sarah Palin.
Ann and Nancy Wilson, the frontwomen of the rock band Heart, are demanding that the McCain campaign stop using their 1977 song "Barracuda" at political rallies after the song was played in honor of vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin on both Wednesday and Thursday nights. Does the McCain campaign have to honor the Wilsons' wishes? (rest of article here): http://www.slate.com/id/2...
Other artists who don't want McLame to use their music:
- Jackson Browne
- John Mellencamp
- Van Halen

The Grateful Dead were in
The Grateful Dead were in the same hillbillies camp with Bush this year at Bohemian Grove.
This is why I don't support music put out by the big media companies. Go to a2im.org to see what small record companies to buy from
Interesting
I read in the Philadelphia Inquire this morning that The Dead and Allman Brothers are teaming up to do shows to benefit Obama/Biden. My first thought was Jesse Ventura just quoted Jerry Garcia at the Rally,"Consistantly voting for the lesser of two evils, is still a vote for evil." The Dead need to remember who they are, where they came from and what they stand for. Jerry is not happy. Peace..
I don't want him
I don't want him using none of my music either but the sad part is most of the musicians that don't want McSame to use their music are perfectly willing to let Obama do it.
I was so pissed when I heard 'Barracuda' being stolen.
My wife and I collect Barracuda's and the song just gets me going.
"Committed To The Eradication Of Poverty Among Patriots"
"Those Who Strive For Excellence Refuse To Fear Mediocrity; They Eradicate It."
Pay for Play
They can probably play it at rallies and so forth, as long as royalties are paid. I don't know all (or many) details of the professional music scene, but I suspect that there are negotiable terms for most foreseen scenarios and that the Wilsons may well be able to make it prohibitively expensive for Team McCain to broadcast it.
For all our talk of supporting Dr Paul and being strict Constitutionalists, why don’t we read the Constitution and realize that Dr Paul can be elected President without appearing on a single State ballot?
its so tainted now haha
the story has grown legs- they could probably LEGALLY play it - but everytime they do its just an embarassing reminder that "oh yeah- this is that one song that the band dosnt want them to play because they emphatically deny that theres an oz of support for McCain from the musicians"- id be surprised if they didnt deep six the idea of playing barracuda to put it behind them.
Live Free or Diebold
Lacandy? Headline fix?
I'm pretty sure you mean rockstars DON'T want those candidates to use their music.
As I've asked before: when is the RIAA going to knock down InSane Campaign's door and serve a hefty piracy lawsuit against them?
/ taps foot, waiting
oops
