DO SOMETHING: Black list all delegates who voted for McCain

These people betrayed Ron Paul and even stabbed Nystrom right in the back:http://www.dailypaul.com/node/60801

If we put emotions aside what need to do is really simple...

A lot of the delegates weren't cut out for this work, thus they should be black listed from high level delegate-like positions in the future.

Someone needs to get a list out and pass it around -- every delegate who threw away their vote for McCain essentially betrayed 10+ people who voted for them.

Of course there was pressure, if you failed on the job like this you would be fired and these people deserve nothing less.

If they want to play 'unite the GOP no matter what' that's fine, but they don't deserve to hide behind Ron Paul.

If we don't redeem ourselves now by doing this then we are essentially throwing in the towel because nothing will prevent this from happening again.

There was a line in the sand and these people crossed it. They are no longer a viable platform for Ron Paul's message despite what they may personally believe.

The system can't heal until after it purges itself.

Jesus and His Disciples

I think of Jesus and his 12 disciples. His disciples lived with Him and followed Him everywhere for three years. They grew to love and admire Him. How could they not? But, when the going got rough, what did they do? One completely betrayed Him and the others abandoned Him.

But what was His response? He brought them back and forgave them. And what did they do? They started the biggest religious movement in the history of the world. And they did it being tortured, imprisoned and ridiculed. Sometimes a total failure has to happen before a person realizes they are mere mortal and learn true humility. Then they come out stronger than ever.

Maybe that will happen here. Don't give up on them.

Witch hunts are not a good idea.

If you really need a witch, they are.

You know what it says in the Bible about not forgiving...

Roy Munson: "Ish, you remember what it says in the Bible about not forgiving right?"

Ishmael: "I know exactly what it says... It's against it.

I don´t think you should be so hard on those that did duty there

maybe they did what was best or what they thought was best.. I do not know..
but they went there, they served and probably did their best...
pls be nice and relax on comments, until you here their story... we don´t need to condemn anyone...
in comparison, I did nothing, I was not there...

unless they are now tempered steel

I skipped a breakfast, did not want to eat at the corporate trough. Turns out it was an unannounced meeting. 3 of our 6 delegates were there, they made the decision with no input from us. When we hit the floor, we were TOLD our votes would not be counted, not even as an abstention. I will NOT make that mistake again, I will show up at every event and bring a picnic, all the better to make my point about the corporate trough.
So, would you blacklist me, or take advantage of the fact that if I go back I will be twice as tough next time?
If they are justifying their actions, dump them. If they got snookered, they may be our best soldiers in the next battle.

So,

how did you hold up at the RNC?

.

.

Placing blame where it belongs.

JM
I'm not an expert on anything, especially politics, but I'm sure if the RNC had given Dr. Paul's delegates a fair shake then he would have gotten all the votes due him. It is very evident the Republican party doesn't agree with Dr. Paul's message. They are and have been corrupt for as long as I can remember and to think honest people could ever change their political thinking is just wrong. Don't take this wrong but Dr. Paul has been in Washington for 30 years and is, in most cases, the lone constitutional voter. Although I agree with all of Dr. Paul's political views, he hasn't made too much progress on reforming the Republican party. I think it is time to place the blame where it squarely belongs, on the Republican party. To think otherwise would be to deceive yourself.

Look, it's the way life runs.

You can't cut the mustard, you don't get the job next time.

Very simple, cut and dried.

I'm not saying we should string them up, or anything.
I think "black-listed" sounds a bit harsh, and I don't like that term. I think we should welcome their participation in other areas which place them in positions of a less critical nature.

If you can't count on someone, then you can't place them in the position.
We can yell about it all we want this time, but if we send them there again and they cave again, it would be all our fault for not learning.

It's a simple measured logical response to an occurrence which we do not want repeated.

Way to go OpenRevolt, kill the wounded. Talk is cheap.

1. No matter how experienced or inexperienced our delegates were they were not prepared to deal with the outright violation of procedures - a surprise attack - with their voices literally cut off.

2. Where is YOUR cred for talking so tough? Were you there? Did you have a back-up plan to go to St. Paul and put up bail money for those who caused a disturbance?

3. Even those who were quick to catch on and do the right thing, were tossed aside. When the announcements were made they were false.

"Committed To The Eradication Of Poverty Among Patriots"

"Those Who Strive For Excellence Refuse To Fear Mediocrity; They Eradicate It."

Oh plz..

You're the guy who keeps coming up with all of these supposed plans that you are going to do but never come through.

I think the only thing you do is talk tough.

There's a difference between not voting and causing a riot and I think it's clear to anyone with a clear mind.

The Republican party is being abandoned by RP supporters all over because of these delegates betrayal and so the only fit thing to do is to take action.

Integrity matters

If the delegates come from states where they are bound to vote for Candidate X for the first round, and they did not change the rules to vote their conscience... then those that did so are not the Benedict Arnolds being portrayed here. To do otherwise would mean the delegates would be liars.

There are folks that believe that integrity matters. I'm one of those.

I wasn't in St. Paul, so, like you, I can't really say they caved in. What would you, in your wisdom, do when Boehner failed to recognize Ron Paul as a nominee - when folks watching C-SPAN heard his name...

What would you, in your wisdom, do when you fail to hear RP getting his delegates votes from Alaska?

You freakin' twits woulda-shoulda-coulda done such a better job than these fine folks that have come to meet the machine face-to-face. All I read is play-calling from Monday Morning Quarterbacks... none of you had the huevos to be there, or else you would have been.

Epic Fail

on the part of those who were swayed by peer pressure and scary goons who who made them feel like outsiders and werent going to be nice if they didnt be like the cool kids and vote McCain. No one is begrudging those who needed to honor a commitment and were bound . This is not one of those situations my friend where we have no right to complain if we didnt go ourselves- like saying we could have thrown a better pass in some football game. This is different. They were elected to represent us and failed to do so. Michael very eloquently explained the psychology involved; peer pressure and t-shirts and buttons and slaps on the backs and glares and big ladies with earpieces-and the potential for a beating. The implication being it wasnt a simple matter of they had to vote by law in many cases. The failures were those who instead chose to betray us. We who had given them daily support to represent us were betrayed in order to gain the favor of the very people they were sent to deliver our message to. This was our legal, play- by -the- rules recourse to their corrupt system and THOSE particular deligates CHOKED.

Your argument FAILs

You FAIL to address what the delegates were supposed to do when Boehner Boned 'em, as well as the failure to count RP votes by the chair.

uber-poseur-patriots - with 22 other states and territories voting prior... what is it you would've done again?

If RP would have recieved more delegate votes than McCain, he still would have lost... since his votes weren't being counted.

Falling for the Bullsheisse is no reason for the lynching y'all are giving these folks. If they shouted Ron Paul all day long, would it have changed a thing?

The folks that could use some dancing (Hempen Jig comes to mind) are the globalists...

You clearly don't get it

Why is Ron Paul even running for President?

It answers all of your silly questions.

Ron Paul did it to stand by principles.

If you don't stand by your principles you don't stand by Ron Paul.

END OF STORY.

5 weeks?

You're here for 5 weeks and you're the expert?

I don't know what Ron Paul would have done were he there... but I understand quite a bit as to why he is running. I would think that he knows the machinery much better than I (or you) - I would also think that he would have a contingency plan of sorts, as well.

Does RP lie to achieve his goals?

Does RP cheat to achieve his goals?

Does RP act like a spoiled toddler when he doesn't get his way?

Perhaps it is you, sir/madam, that doesn't get 'it'.

Looks like we sent the dvds to the wrong delegates

Im sorry- Im just not feeling the fluffy "walk two miles in their shoes" explaination. Last time someone rode a horse to Washington and choked was Nancy Pelosi - had she kept impeachment on the table way may never have gotten to where we had to Google "Who Is Ron Paul?" Everyone who cuts a deal with these guys gets us skewered a little deeper. I really dont think we'll even recognise an America of 2012.

Hey Jinc

I don't mean to inject 'other things' into this thread, but even though I have a running feud with the "Truthers," I have to say that when I heard that some RP delegates sold out, I thought, "I don't know who they were but I'll bet they weren't "Truthers."

I have a feeling you guys are going to be annoying me until the bitter end (you know, when they pry our guns from our cold dead hands...)

Peace.

Pretty much but what really pisses me off..

Is that we had people there - alternates like Nystrom who would have done the right thing if they had the chance.

These people should not have taken the job if they thought it was going to be peaches and cream.

We are all amateurs at staring evil in the face.

It might help to try to remember that for most of the people there, this was the first time in their LIVES that they have ever had to stand alone and make a difficult decision. Most Americans have never even experienced "hard times" let alone a situation in which their only weapon is their individual integrity. For most people this idea of INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY is a new concept, and one often doesn't understand the MEANING of a concept, until they receive a "hands on" example.

Even here at Daily Paul you see people needing to BUILD their courage. They seem fine one day and the next they are begging for "answers" from others on how to vote, or what to do. It takes time and experience and fortitude to build one's "spiritual muscles", and given that, this convention was a rather large and impossible first test for those who are only in their first week at the "gymnasium". It was like asking a person who just began a fitness program last week to participate in the Olympics.

The old expression that "a coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only one" is so true. I am sure that many of those who gave in to the pressures will die a thousand deaths for a long time. Hopefully they will forgive THEMSELVES and come back from this experience with a determination to take the time and discipline to build their "spiritual muscles" for the next round. Others will never forgive themselves and will walk away in despair and never rejoin the group. And others were, perhaps, not as genuinely committed as we thought.

Every experience we have in life is an opportunity for growth. Hopefully all those involved in this last week will use the experience as a tool for strengthening their muscles for the fight ahead. Encountering pure evil face to face is a startling thing. Next time, those who had the opportunity to attend this convention, and use its lessons wisely, will not be taken by surprise, and will be more prepared. And then the time after that will be easier still.

Those who did not cave, must try to help those who did to forgive themselves and if they chose to try again, we must offer friendship and encouragement. Then if or when WE OURSELVES fail to live up to the best within us in the future, we will know we have friends to help us recover.

There is a difference between

Forgiveness and stupidity.

Stupidity would be to continue to support these people and pretend they understand the Ron Paul message.

Forgiveness is not going out to knock some sense into them or slash their tires.

Eloquent, elviejo.

The whole experience must have been unimaginable - like being watched in Communist Chinese goons at an "election" in China.
