Rumor about C4L press release
Someone is suggesting that C4L will sponsor a "real all-candidates debate". In my opinion this will be a great opportunity for C4L to get national publicity. This article is just SPECULATING !
Full article here: http://thirdpartywatch.co...
"Ron Paul will announce that the Campaign for Liberty is sponsoring a real all-candidates’ debate, to be televised, featuring every presidential candidate on enough state ballots to win: Baldwin, Barr, McKinney, and Nader (and of course McCain and Obama should be invited, too, though they’d decline.) A network, even if only C-Span, has agreed to run the debate. An all-star panel (say, Gary Johnson, Naomi Wolfe, and Walter Williams) will ask the questions. The moderator will, of course, be Dr. Paul himself.
The announcement goes over strongly enough to replace “Sarah Palin,” or whatever next week’s Top Story is. The momentum builds, and continues to build, until, on debate day, 25 million Americans watch the debate. It’s so successful that the network arranges for a full set of three, which end up being watched by over 100 million American voters. Suddenly, for the first time since television became central to it, the election process is a level playing field.
I would love to see that occur this fall. However, I know that all my love is not going to make it occur. Sometimes life is like that; what one wants to see happen, and thinks ought to happen, does not happen. One has to deal with that, while continuing to live and act."

"This is so exciting!":D
The video is great! Thank you!:)
I think that'd be a true game changer
A debate moderated by C4L could ask some great questions to get at the heart of what it takes to be president.
Wonderful idea...
Though I wouldn't expect the MSM to cover it. It would, however, make a great addition to a C4L youtube channel?
"The federal government has no right to treat all Americans as criminals by spying on their relationship with their doctors, employers, or bankers." -Ron Paul
Televised?
Does anyone know if the National Press Club announcement will be televised? I know C-Span carries a lot of events from the NPC.
When will this be on
When will this be on tv

a "real all-candidates debate"
would be great!!!

Ron Paul Supporter Since 1997
“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with” Ron Paul
Pure Speculation
I heard that Ralph Nader will also be there. This is pure speculation, but it would be very interesting nonetheless... what if all of the third parties decided to join forces and endorse Ron Paul. It is not actually that far fetched. There are a lot of things that they agree on -- especially the basics of open access to the elections, Constitutional law, and an end to the corruption in the government. Ron Paul could promise to address some of these key issues in exchange for support -- something he is already committed and planning to do -- without having to sacrifice his own values.
With the Libertarian, Constitution, and Green parties (maybe even the Independents) coming under Ron Paul's banner, he would be starting to push the 20% mark. Suddenly, he is in the realm of a viable candidate. If he could then garner an endorsement from someone like Ross Perot (a well-known independent), Bloomberg, or Forbes, he could gain even more support and become a serious threat.
Ron Paul is probably the best chance at a third-party candidate since Ross Perot, and he has a far better record and level of trust from the American people. There are millions who do not like the choice of Obama or McCain, but think they have no other options. If Ron Paul can break the 20% support barrier, he suddenly becomes a real choice in the eyes of the mainstream. It would help all third parties to see Ron Paul pull this off as he would certainly open up new opportunities for all political parties under a return to true Constitutional law.
It's a thought.
Imagine the good
Imagine the good consequences of a fusion ticket. It could be huge! Many economists agree with Dr. Paul about the economy. Forbes could be a good one for sure. Remember that someone said that, during one of the times Dr. Paul schooled Bernanke, most of the economists were rooting for Dr. Paul. You never know, it doesn't hurt to try at this point of the season.
It may not win
but it could drive an upset, which would be enough to get people to sit up and notices

DVD's
I agree that most of the main stream Media will not cover this debate but there is a way to reach people and that would be through a DVD. If the C4L does a debate someone needs to put it on DVD and then sell them real cheap like the DVD's through Ron Paul Reveres. I would be willing to spend a little money and hand out say 200 or 300 DVD's in my area. Give the DVD a title like "The Call for Liberty Presidential Debate" The debate you need to see before you vote. I would keep Ron Pauls name off of it because there are some that won't even consider it if they feel you are trying to change their mind. I asked a few friends if they would watch a debate DVD if they had one and they all said yes. Some Ron Paul supporters but most are either Obama or McCain fans. If they, Obama and McCain refuse to show up then it needs to be stated at the beginning of the debate that that was a choice by them. Let people know they were affraid to show up. Washington is corrupt and we must now reach out to our brothers and sisters in America. Reach out to the masses that have the power in their voice and VOTE!
I agree about keeping Ron
I agree about keeping Ron Paul's name out of it. It's unfortunate how many people will ignore our message if they hear the name "Ron Paul" or "Republican"...

C4L blog has announcement
Looks like this is the "additional details" we were awaiting for today:
Press release dated today, September 8th, 2008, announced on the C4L blog, includes the following statement:
Dr. Paul will announce his intentions for the fall presidential election and will be accompanied by several special guests.
This press conference is scheduled to take place on September 10th at 10am EDT.
GOOD!
That means by the time I wake up Wednesday morning the cat will be out of the bag.
I am going to have a hard time getting to sleep Tuesday night, I bet.
10 AM EDT = 6 AM ADT. Gee, wanna guess how much work I get done that day????
At the risk of
At the risk of crossposting... there just might be some movement or alliance with the Constitution Party and the Paul campaign... something about him running under their banner for the election.
What was it?
So what was the big news? I kept checking my computer all day.
Anything?....
10th
suppose to be by 10th
they have moved the "big
they have moved the "big news" to the 10th? or is there some sort of event taking place on the 10th?
I hope if they are going to do it they either
advertise the shit out of it, or get it on an MSM station. If they don't do either of these, it will be a complete waste as 95% of the american public doesn't even know c-span is a channel, let alone are they able to tell you what the number of the channel is. I think this could be the most awesome thing they can do, when they, and we, are all aware there are hundreds of thousands of disgruntled voters out there, that are not happy with either choice.
I'm afraid they'll just
I'm afraid they'll just announce that C4L has a 100,000 members. I hope I'm wrong!
As long as RP not spending RP donations on this, fine.
As others have said, this third party debate is pretty standard...and won't hardly any coverage.
I'd rather the donations go toward creating our own media. If this debate was on our own media, great.
BTW: What is the status of our own media?
Brilliant
I think it's fantastic, especially if it would be on one of the three letter networks.
C-SPAN would be ignored.
Get Jon Stewart or Glenn Beck to host.
This movement needs something substantial to move the debate...the two major candidates and their parties miss the mark ever so broadly. Need to shake up America...
Does any body ever hear me?
I have said a hundred times: C-SPAN has been doing these third party debates for years. A third party debate would not be revolutionary or a major announcement, I do not think. It would not be new. I've watched them on C-SPAN and enjoyed them, but they have always been a very insignificant contribution to the overall political debate, being that a) the "big names" refuse to debate the little guys, and b) most people don't watch C-SPAN Third Party Debates, instead preferring to watch crap like American Idol and MTV.
I agree, a third party
I agree, a third party debate would not be a major announcement. My anticipation is wanting much more that simply that kind of announcement.
I sincerely hope not...
I was hoping this would be some kind of last ditch effort to take the White House, a peace offering that would allow Dr. Paul to take the place of LP and CP places in the November ballot.
Now this is some kind of alternative presidential debate?
It will be heard by LP, CP, Dr. Paul folks, and Nader people, but will be absolutely ignored by 95% of America. It's a symbolic statement, but this movement has been making symbolic statements for decades.
Please...give me something more than this!!!
Pissing on your Cheerios....
sadly, I think that the new Fall TV program line-up and video's of American Idol rejects will trump a Third Party debate any day, for the masses, IMO.
After reading the article..
This is just what the author wants to see happen...it is just a rumor...
Yes, I agree with you
But I am worried that what you and I want to see happen is just a rumor also????
I don't like the idea of
I don't like the idea of Naomi Wolfe as a contributor...she is a very controversial figure...
This is a very good idea
JM
and for it to work, we would need some very serious backing. Someone with deep pockets. A huge money drive possibly. And after the debate, more tv ads etc.. I lilke it.
Want more war, and higher taxes,
then vote for Obama or Mc
then vote for the non-American - Obama, or the other War
monger - McCain. Great choices right??
But we can do the right thing by putting our hard earned
money on a winning team of " PAUL + VENTURA" ..
IT CAN BE DONE - - - - !!! All we need to do is build a
War Chest of lot's of money now, and we will get it all
back once we have saved the USA from going down the
tubes.... SERIOUS.... Have a dream? Make it happen.
NOW IS THE TIME, FOUR MORE YEARS IS TOO LATE.

I don't think we currently have enough money.
yes!
all I want for Christmas is for McCain to end up behind Barr and Baldwin in this election

mccain and obama will most
mccain and obama will most likely simply disagree to come
Imagine This
one of the two Mcbama's comes and the other doesn't, say only barack shows up...hows that gonna reflect on John? pretty embarrasing...
Of course they would decline!
Can you imagine how ignorant they would appear trying to answer the questions posed by Ron Paul? Look how stupid mccain was when Ron asked him about his knowledge on economics.
