The strongest message can be sent by rejecting the two-party system, which in reality is a one-party system with no possible chance for the changes to occur which are necessary to solve our economic and foreign policy problems. This can be accomplished by voting for one of the non-establishment principled candidates—Baldwin, Barr, McKinney, Nader, and possibly others. (listed alphabetically)

if we can drag enough of the vote in our direction, via a combination of all the 3rd parties, then there will be no "perceived mandate" for any eventual winner from either of the 2 parties, because "the win" consisted of less than 50% of the vote.
Then they cannot proclaim that they represent the will of the people, and just a simple "minority-majority" of somewhat less than half of the people who voted.

This could be a factor in how far they can reach with their policy-making, since it could then be constantly brought up that they have no "mandate from the people" for such actions as they may want to implement.

I hope he hammers home a couple of points:

1. That a third party vote is NOT a wasted vote. Just imagine if McBama gets in with only 30-40%... there goes "consensus" out the window!

2. That the old media will try to spin this announcement as just a bunch of fringe candidates trying to steal some of the spotlight from the "major candidates". Tell the public in no uncertain terms that the "two party system" is D-E-A-D, dead! Ask them which candidates are speaking out against FISA, which candidates will bring our troops home NOW, which candidates will speak out against the abuses of the FED, and so on...

I still think he has some things up his sleeve. That sly little smile on Cavuto last night tells me there is a lot more coming!

if that's what the Dr. will do.But I don't think that if everyone avoids voting for McCain or Obama and votes third party or Independent will put a different candidate in office.Baldwin may have a similar platform to Dr. Paul but I think he has even less a chance to unseat the REP. or DEM. candidates.The same goes for Barr or Nader it will just dilute the amount of votes they get but will not keep them out of office.I will still cast a write in vote for Ron Paul counted or not.

A unity party headed by Ron Paul.. I would love to see how diebold would hide that one come November.

Openning up the debates/elections is the first step in making the liberty message more available. If we can dilute the vote among 5 candidates, then those americans that believe in liberty will sometimes get a candidate in the door.

We're never going to convince everyone. Our goal right now needs to be getting representation in government that is on par with our demographics in the population. About 10% of Americans are socially liberal and fiscally conservative (aka keep gov't out of my hair). We should have at least 10% of gov't that believes in those ideas. Right now we have maybe 2-3%.

The only thing beauracracies do well is get bigger. I 100% disagree with the green party, but I'd rather have the gov't consist of 1/3 green, 1/3 republican, 1/3 democrat than 1/2 rep and 1/2 democrats, because it will be harder for them to drive a single agenda.

It's disappointing, but at least it acknowledges one basic fact...

..that the future of this movement is in Third Parties.

if Ron Paul reads our comments here and has a little chuckle? He did say make fun buddy so there is nothing wrong with throwing ideas around. Maybe he is going to tell us he took a ticket to the Rage concert in exchange for promising to direct all of his supporters to McCain for a long run strategy ( or not so long, in McCains case) for a written promise they will drop Palin for him. As a bonus the other candidates with him at the meeting will also be welcomed warmly as part of the inner loop of the GOP now.

I may just be spit-balling here, but how about simply being PATIENT, and waiting quietly to see what he actually says tomorrow instead of once again getting hopes up, or dashing them?

I swear- sometimes I think I should've invested in Pepto Bismol and marketed it to the Daily Paul. I'd be able to cover the debt and own half the country at this rate.

I like it, it was always my second option, I'm spreading the word. It's to cancel that Obama/McCain ticket.

If that's the announcement then it's lame. I'm writing in Ron Paul just like several other people I know about. If the campaign hasn't gotten that message yet its their own fault.

I am tired of the big announcement anouncements. I think we have been on an emotional rollercoaster for 18 months. I now want solid leadership and commitments. I CAN'T VOTE 3RD PARTY as my state doesn't give me that choice. I do want to change that!
But dammit, if there is a big announcement, make it. I am still waiting to hear who the great mystery guest was going to be at the rally. I adore Ron Paul's message and I agree with 90% of it, but I want to see something earthshaking! I want him to stand up and yell that "YES, HE WILL RUN 3RD PARTY" Something to give us hope. I am tired. Tired of the sorry crap at county, state and national level!
If I was allowed to vote in the primaries in Oklahoma without being registered to one of the so-called parties I would change to independant. That too is something I want to change. All this political garbage as to 1 party or another is nothing less than raw sewage. Again, I will state, I am tired!

If you want results you got to go to the grassroots.

Ron Paul isn't going to do jack other than keep on repeating the message he always has.

Surely there must be more to the story than THAT!!
