Barr Has Lost My Vote

I don't post here that often, but I have consistently defended Bob Barr against unfair attacks against his genuineness, his personal and professional history, and his positions.

After snubbing Paul, Baldwin, Nader, McKinney, the CFL and the national press, however, the Libertarian candidate Bob Barr no longer deserves defending and no longer deserves my vote.

I support Chuck Baldwin as of this morning.

I encourage others to join me in doing so.

UPDATE: I have just joined my local Chuck Baldwin Meetup Group and look forward to getting active again.

UPDATE2: Just donated to the Baldwin campaign. This is serious, folks!

UPDATE3: Everyone should email or phone Bob Barr's press secretary and let him know how pissed we all are:

Barr was a little too zealous in downplaying Ron Paul's media

After his CIA experience, you would think he would have played smarter than that - oh, I forget, it doesn't matter what his experience is or how intelligent he is, if the GOP and McCain are pulling the strings.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

barr never had my vote! am

barr never had my vote! am I just smarter then you earthling pieces of trash?? lol!!!!

bob who?

Oh, that neocon. Yeah I vaguely remember him.

Yeah, he's that guy who

Yeah, he's that guy who screwed over Paul and all those other third-party candidates who put message before egos and showed up to support a common platform. And then went onto slam Paul and his supporters and grandstand in the press... you remember him.

Heh. definitely not getting my vote

It kinda comes down to the old saying of 'actions speak louder than words'.

His distant and recent past scream "I'm a raging dick."

Not Only That

But I revoked my membership In the LP... this party has been captured and is no different than the uniparty, and I can no longer be a part of it.

Bob Barr? He's done!

"Committed To The Eradication Of Poverty Among Patriots"

"Those Who Strive For Excellence Refuse To Fear Mediocrity; They Eradicate It."

Lost my vote

I never really liked the guy either. Something about the guy creeps me out. His voting record also sucks, and I was amazed the LP chose him.

I have supported Libertarians in the past.

I voted for Harry Browne. Bob Barr, you are no Harry Browne.

Bob Barr will not be getting my vote.

Bob Barr is the best thing to ever happen to the Constitution Party.

R.I.P. Libertarian Party

LP cause of death: Stake through the heart inflicted by Bob Barr.

Bob Barr can........

go ahead and grab a shovel.........because he is done.

Is anyone else Distressed??

Congrats to our Hero Ron Paul for throwing us a bone on the election. I can't wait to see the 4 way (maybe 3 way if Barr stays pissy) debate. It will be awesome!

While I'm so happy with the "vote 3rd party" message, I'm concerned that we, the 3rd party minority, will split our votes by 3 or 4 people, and the majority will only split by 2 people. That's so CLEARLY a losing strategy for this election, is it not?

I had no idea that Nader and McKinney were anti-Fed (though they don't specify what they support... which does worry me, as I am for private money...government run money is only slightly better than secret, monopoly, government sanctioned money). But given that stance, I would be fine if either of them beat out Baldwin... or Barr.

Can we get one of these 4 candidates to pledge to focus only on these 4 issues, and nothing else? Then pick just one of them to whom we can give all of our support, and give the other 3 cabinet positions?? Ron Paul will be our UN ambassador... or Treasury secretary... or supreme court appointee.... or Fed Chair!

I am reminded of James K Polk who came to office with his.. 4 or 5?... point plan. He said those would be his goals, he would achieve them in one term, then be done. He had no other projects. He was also considered a "dark horse."

I am staunchly pro-life, and I quiver to think of an Obama administration that would exacerbate the genocide of the pre-born, but I would vote for a pro-choicer if they promised to maintain the status quo. Might some pro-choicers pledge the same for a pro-life candidate who promised to maintain the status quo?

I fear that 3rd party turnout will be better than ever before this year, but that McBama will still win. Can we wait 4 more years to try this again? Will such voices still be tolerated and legal when McBama wins? Will we ever have the same momentum in the future that we have now? If RP asked you to vote for McKinney, or Nader.... or Baldwin or Barr, for that matter.... would you do it? Is Ron Paul lacking the drive to buck the system in a way that only he could?

He never had my vote either.

Given his past, I always felt uneasy with him.

Now I'm sure he is a GOP diversion.

But now that Ron Paul is endorsing us to vote third party, and Bob Barr has exposed himself, it makes the decision fairly easy for me;

Constitution Party!

he never

EVER had mine, for the record.

Can't Vote Baldwin...

As I'm an Atheistic Buddhist. I wish the CP would drop the Judeo-Christian hogwash in their platform so I could vote for them, but such is life, I guess :-/. Barr really was a poor choice for the LP though. I'm not sure what I'll do now.

You've got more important problems

than figuring out who to vote for, man. How bout saving your eternal soul?

The christian thing bothers

The christian thing bothers me, too, so I will not join the CP, but I will still vote for Baldwin, as he is more in tune with my philosophies than any other. HOWEVER, since they ALL agreed on these top 4 issues, which are ones that most concern us these days, I would proudly cast a vote for any of these three, if Baldwin was not on my ballot. They ALL know what is best to keep our freedom, and they are ALL non CFL pro freedom choices. I am not afraid of any of them.

I'm An Artist....

but please watch this video - all the way to the end....

http://www.youtube.com/wa...

peace!

Definitely makes me rethink Baldwin...

But I still worry about the planks on the party platform. Do you know if the CP is committed to the whole "natural marriage" thing and abortion thing on a national or state level? Because one of the big selling points for me about Ron Paul was that he could be in office fighting the good fight against the oligarchs, and not interfere with Vermont keeping abortion and civil unions legal because of his respect for state's rights. How does the CP stand?

That's a good video. The

That's a good video.

The only problem I have is there are religous beliefs within the Constitution Party platform.

It Is Great

for helping calm the theocrat label....

guess we need to remember too - that we are not joining a political
party - we are wanting to support and vote for an individual with the
message that resonates within us....

remember, Ron Paul ran in an ugly party - but I totally supported him
and voted for him and still support him!
But the stuff that Republican Party says (the neo-con one) isn't anything
to get excited about - it has a whole lot of bad in it.

but I wasn't voting for RP because of his party afiliation - it was strictly
based on his Freedom Message ... and so too - now I support Baldwin
to continue the Freedom Message .... regardless his faith or party affiliation.

peace!

Point well taken.

Point well taken.

I agree, the Constitution

I agree, the Constitution Party should drop the idea of mixing church and state, even if that is how the Constitution was formed.

I would also support them much more if they did that.

But, out of the endorsements Ron Paul made, I have to say Chuck Baldwin is the best, so I will vote for him in support of Ron Paul.

I'm a deist. My advice to

I'm a deist.

My advice to you: Put the Constitution first. Baldwin does.

Baldwin puts the Constitution before his Bible?

I doubt it seriously.

Baldwin seems to follow Ron Paul's example

I think the Bible actually says it best " Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's "

Baldwin is a wise enough man to recognize that God doesn't want anyone converted at the barrel of a gun. He can honor and worship his God according to the Bible and he can serve his country best by upholding the Constitution.

Right

Good point.

Ron Paul does a good job of not mixing church and state, in fact the Constitution forbids it, Baldwin and the Constitution Party should follow Ron Paul's example and follow the Constitution a little closer.

Help a Dummy like me out here...

Where in the constitution are these word written?... "mixing church and state, in fact the Constitution forbids it, " feel free to copy and paste from it..

I did see something about promoting a religion but have not run across what you posted...

confused and need clarification, .

Lots of places

See Danbury Letter, Everson, Reynolds, and so on. IT IS SETTLED LAW.

And this topic has been bandied about on here in the past.

No need to revisit the past just because someone doesn't know how to research.

From an electoral standpoint

I can't support a candidate who supports mixing church and state, as I'm a member of a small minority religion, and my tax dollars would be supporting things that don't coincide with my values. Paul's genius was to honor this, while I'm not sure I can trust Baldwin to do the same.

I just watched the video that Artist put up...

and it definitely put some of my fears to rest. I'm going to seriously consider this guy.

I love and support Dr. Paul.....

however, since he's no longer running and has recommended voting 3rd party, my daughter and I will both be voting for Chuck Baldwin. I've been debating between writing in Ron Paul or voting for Chuck Baldwin and have finally made up my mind.

Bob Barr finally showed his true colors. It doesn't surprise me at all! I'd never vote for anybody who voted for the Patriot Act.

At least I got to meet Dr. Paul in St. Paul and got my books signed. I'm sure that my daughter and I met many of you there. She wore a button that says "Cats for Ron Paul". ha!

Ruby in Iowa

Barr also lost my vote

Because of Barr's terrible decision in regards to the conference and an offensive and tactless message from his field director (http://www.ronpaulforums....), we at RPF have put together a petition asking the LP to ask Barr to step down.

He has sabotaged what could have been a stellar year for the LP.

If you wish, please sign the petition which we will be sending to the LP as soon as is reasonable. http://www.ipetitions.com...

I'm torn on this. I'll

I'm torn on this.
I'll either write in Ron Paul or vote Chuck Baldwin.
What ever happens our goal now is to keep the votes away from Obama and McCain.

In my state

write ins are thrown away so I will vote third party. Peace

There's a reason

There's a reason and it probably has something to do with the fact that Bob Barr has just formally asked Ron Paul to be his running mate.

Someone Wrote

Someone wrote on another thread that Texas voters will be stuck with Ralph Nader as an alternative to the two new world order candidates.

I am happy to be able to report that although you can't write in Ron Paul in Texas, Chuck Baldwin is listed on the Texas Secretary of State's website as an approved write-in candidate.

So you aren't stuck with Ralph Nader as someone on another topic claimed.

Write-In Baldwin in Texas

Thank you for the update!

For all our talk of supporting Dr Paul and being strict Constitutionalists, why don’t we read the Constitution and realize that Dr Paul can be elected President without appearing on a single State ballot?

You are brilliant!

Now all we have to do is get some 270 electors in the united States of America to go for Ron Paul. Which means we only have to go to a bunch of legislatures in the union and convince them to appoint such electors..... or get stealth RP supporters to convince the legislators of the several States that they're good puppets and will vote for McBama.

You're right about what you say, Constitutionally speaking, but it is nearly impossible.

How do you be come an elector for a State anyway? I mean hell, we couldn't even get people organized to vote for RP in the party convention that was otherwise non-contentions!

I'll do whatever I can for this idea... but I ain't holding my breath.

First off, Bob Barr will be

First off, Bob Barr will be on the ballot, as the Libertarian Party has "major party" status in Texas (along with the Dems and Reps).

Second, being an "approved write-in candidate" is next to meaningless. In many of the major cities in Texas, those that use the touch screen computers, you can't even "write- in" anymore.

Even if you are in a part of Texas that has the old fashioned paper ballots and can "write in", it won't be counted unless there is a close race.

So, in Texas, a "write in" vote for Baldwin is meaningless.

You're only real choices (other than McBama) are Barr and Nader.

www.ronpaul2008.com

That's not totally correct.

LP does have ballot slot access in TX, but not "major" party status.

And Joebama and McLipstick may not even be on the ballot in TX. They both missed the certificatin deadlines and LPTX has sued to keep them off the ballot because of it.

We'll see how that falls out.

And I hope LPTX wins, not for Barr's sake, but because it tosses 34 electoral votes, the #2 electoral state, into utter chaos.

Barr Has Definitely Lost my vote today.

I'll be voting for Baldwin and the Constitution Party.

few people liked Barr for the right reasons

I think when the dust settles Nader will be their token 3rd party and he will be at the debates. Somehow with his current 4-6% in the "polls" he looks legitimate. Wolf Blitzer's polls showed that when Nader was included in the "polls" Obama suffered. Nader told him that the "polls" HE'D seen show that McCain suffered the vote siphon from Nader being involved. The people at Diebold NEED a 3rd party spoiler to help sell their rigging for McCain. By November McCain will still be Bush/Cheney and Palin will be one hot mess. They'll need to use the 3rd party as a variable slide buffer to distribute the votes correctly. McCain WILL be the next president- but at least the American people will be one step closer to calling bullsh*t on this sham by having a 3rd party shedding some light on the 2 party system's power to keep anything with substance out of the debates.

Live Free or Diebold

And Broken My Heart

so, with heavy heart, I urge other former Barr supporters to consider these options:

These are strictly advisory, of course, but since I’ve already done the research and analysis, I thought I’d save ya’ll a little effort. In order to carry out Dr Paul’s “marching orders” to maximum effect, and to preserve the possibility (sinking fast though it may be) of a Paul Presidency, I think these are our best bets:

If you live in Oklahoma, you have no choice. Write-in Ron Paul.

If you live in Montana or Louisiana, rejoice! You get to vote for Ron Paul!

If you live in New Hampshire, please vote for George Phillies (the other Libertarian).

If you live in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or West Virginia, vote for Chuck Baldwin.

If you live in Arizona, California, The Dakotas, The District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin, or Wyoming, you have my condolences. You’ll need to vote for Cynthia McKinney.

If you live in Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or Texas, you have my deepest condolences. You’re stuck with Ralph Nader. Sorry.

If you can’t stomach my recommendations, then, if your State permits, I guess you should write in Ron Paul.

This decision is rather painful for me, as it will be the first Presidential election for me (since 1976) in which I will not be voting for the Libertarian. It looks as though the Barr Campaign has burned that bridge, and it likely won’t be rebuilt until at least 2012.

Naturally, depending on State laws and Party rules, State Libertarian, Constitution, or various independent Parties who substitute Ron Paul for their present candidate on State ballots should also win our allegiance.

Repairs hit a high point in 2010

At the next LP convention, when some of these bums that support Barr can be tossed from the LNC.

Ha!

you still got Missouri wrong....
Missouri is Constitution Party!
Chuck Baldwin 08

and segregated voting process is lame ....

vote your conscience - wherever you are ....

So noted

and thanks.

Coordinated action is often more effective. If everyone pushes on the truck in the direction that best suits them, it will likely remain stuck in the mud. If everyone pushes in the same direction it can become more easily unstuck.

As always, my suggestions are strictly advisory -- your mileage may differ -- prices may vary in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico -- use only as directed.

I emailed them. Thanks for

I emailed them. Thanks for posting the contact info.

Barr has lost my vote as well.

I e-mail that guy also

His reply

"Bob invited Paul to be his VP. I hardly call that a snub."
