The strongest message can be sent by rejecting the two-party system, which in reality is a one-party system with no possible chance for the changes to occur which are necessary to solve our economic and foreign policy problems. This can be accomplished by voting for one of the non-establishment principled candidates—Baldwin, Barr, McKinney, Nader, and possibly others. (listed alphabetically)

I am deeply disappointed by Bob Barr's decision not to participate in today's press conference just as I have been disappointed with the Barr campaign throughout this election cycle.
The idea that he was busy is absurd. I am sitting in the National Press Club right now waiting for his hastily called press conference to begin. This is the same building where Dr. Paul's presser just ended. Barr committed to participate, but had his campaign manager call us minutes before it started to tell us that Bob thinks "it just isn't worth it." I look forward to hearing him explain how breaking a promise to Congressman Paul constitutes a wise campaign strategy.
It is my great hope that the alternative parties will present the American people with quality candidates that offer a real option. Clearly the Libertarian Party has failed to do so. Bob Barr has repeatedly broken his promises to Dr. Paul, showed up uninvited at C4L events, and made statement contrary to Dr. Paul's beliefs while still claiming the mantle of heir to the R3VOLution.

I agree. People should be calm and not jump to conclusions. Barr is not the enemy, no neocon either. I think it is about difference in strategy...wish it had been cleared up before this happened, but sure there will be some unity later, with perhaps a joint conference or statement between Barr and Paul.

If Ron Paul did not make it, he would know how important it is to communicate properly to his supporters so there would be no question why he didn't make it. Bob Barr is clearly in some kind of moral conflict since he decided not to attend. It just wasn't important to him. It is what it is.

If the LP hopes
to retain even a shred of credibility, they need to pull the Barr/Root ticket and put up an alternate ticket instead.
Except for NH, they can't
ballot access rules prohibit it. You know, the ones the GOP helped construct and also have broken in TX.
As for NH, there are actually two LP tickets there, because ot the NH ballot access and substitution rules. Long story.

Evidence
There is a post over at Reason Online that says the LP spokesman was unaware Barr wasn't going to attend, and when he showed up to pass out literature a very angry Jesse Benton threw him out. So I think that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was an intentional, last minute snub by Bob Barr and not just some kind of honest misunderstanding.
That doesn't make sense.

Barr had told the campaign he would be there. He obviously changed his mind at the last minute. The Paul people were none too happy that he had broken his word, so there weren't about to let the LP distribute materials at their press conference.*
*Note that according to the story, the LP Party rep had no idea Barr had backed out, so he was somewhat of a fall guy in the whole affair, but the fact they threw him out demonstrates just how angry the Paul people were with Barr.
Two problems with that.
1) There is no LP mention on any Barr materials. That was pointed out at the LNC meeting this past weekend.
2) The Barr campaign is not communicating or connecting with the LP at all. That has been obvious for a long time. That's why the LP rep had no idea what was going on--he literally didn't.
So don't blame the LP for Barr screwing up. Blame Barr.

Nader said he spoke to Verney (Barr's campaign manager) 40 minutes earlier.
