Dr. Lawson has posted some polling results on his website. David Price is still ahead but we're narrowing the gap. Please help us elect Dr. Lawson to represent our district. If you can spare even a penny, please donate. We are an overwhelmingly democratic district so this incumbent is going to be particularly difficult to defeat. I just slapped my large yellow Vote Yes on 1 bumper sticker (to end the state income tax) on my subaru yesterday. It's pretty in your face. The wording references the average $3,700 each Massachusetts family would be able to keep of their own hard-earned wages. I hope it has an effect.

Just last week someone stopped behind me at a red light and saw my Ron Paul stickers and honked and yelled, "Yah! Go Ron Paul! End the Fed - End the Fed!" It was awesome.

This same ballot question came very close to passing last time it was voted on by the commonwealth. We'll see what happens this time.

If I had a front yard I'd have a yard sign. But I will be handing out stickers to everyone I know.

Were holding a Constitution Anniversary party at appropriately, The Founding Fathers Bar in Buffalo, NY today. This is an impromptu meetup to provide a little information on the Real Politics, Leadership Summit, Nation Celebration and the Rally for the Republic.

A regular meetup will be scheduled for the full presentation on the two days of schooling, the C4L's position/direction, and the Rally speakers.

This is the 1st Constitution Anniversary celebration any of us have ever held. What on earth would make people who never cared about this day want to learn about and celebrate it?

How We’re Doing: First Polling Numbers

As you know, I’m a big believer in transparency in government. That translates into transparency in campaigns, as well — especially since our campaign is supported by so many people. Many have asked for insight into how we’re doing, and tonight we received results from our first poll.

We called a sample of 1,105 households across the district, stratified by precinct. Before we hit the results, let’s review our district’s demographics:

Democrats: 46%
Republicans: 28%
Unaffiliated: 26%

As you can see, while Democrats far outnumber Republicans, Unaffiliated voters and any swing Democrats can provide a margin of victory.

Here is the sample that we polled:

Democrats: 57%
Republicans: 26%
Unaffiliated: 17%

So our sample had significantly more Democrats than the overall district, with slightly fewer Republicans, and significantly fewer Unaffiliateds.

Here are our results:

Price: 56%
Lawson: 31%
Undecided: 13%

Considering that our ten-term incumbent typically wins this district with 65% of the vote, he’s off from his typical pace. Furthermore, the presence of 13% undecided is not exactly bullish for a ten-term incumbent who advertises liberally with taxpayer-financed mailings.

At this point, it appears we have reason to redouble our efforts towards this election. Not only are we maintaining our base, but we picked up five percent from Unaffiliated and Democratic voters — only 26% of our sample was Republican, and we’re polling at 31%. While our incumbent is polling at 56%, the sample was 57% Democratic — and the overall district is only 46% Democratic.

We know it’s time for change. I wouldn’t want to run against change this year. Nor would I want to run against a federal government that follows the Constitution.

After reading nelsonwinters' piece on congressman Hansen, and then looking at the immediate effect we've already had in a number of races, I'd say it's a good time to keep our noses to the grindstone and keep influencing as many people as possible. The average Joe is more and more likely to listen as things start to go to seed.

p.s. - don't forget Mike Benoit, he's pulling 13% and rising as a Libertarian candidate for the 52nd congressional district in the nation's eighth largest city.

There's an initiative to decriminalize MJ in CA as well, not limited to medical uses. I'm always amazed at people who are against drugs in general, who fail to see the unconstitutionality of drug laws. Then, when similarly styled laws pop up for non-drug issues, they yell and scream like crazy. They just don't see how it's a flawed design of the law system, and instead focus on issues (good vs. bad). In the end, it bites them...well, yes!
