Silver Eagle Question

I am getting conflicting signals. As of 9/18/08 how much would I buy or sell a 2008 1oz silver eagle for?

I figured ebay was the place to come up with a real price, but even there, we have some price fluctuation, so it's a little difficult to determine. Just go with the price curve........... but tomorrow? The prices moves so fast, you can post it (i.e. your price) but you need to hope your price holds relevancy over the next few days.

Looks like.................

The Silver Eagles I am refering to are BU. I believe the BU is the most popular. Looks like the best way to ebay search the price is type in sliver eagle BU.

In the event of a market

In the event of a market crash (which we very well could be witnessing) Silver will not be worth any more than the going rate for silver. That means the generic Sunshine Mint coin won't be worth any less than that nice shiny Eagle.

So the question to ask yourself is: Why do you want or need Eagles?

Just stick with Generic and Junk so you don't have to pay absurd premiums for coins that wont' be worth any more than other coins when that shat hits the fan.

Government Confiscation Of Precious Metals

I'm just curious. If the word goes out to confiscate metals won't everyone who's bought online be in jepordy?

This is what I am trying to

This is what I am trying to figure out before I buy.

That is why I pay more to

That is why I pay more to buy local.

I went to my local coin shop

I went to my local coin shop yesterday looking for junk silver and he had $1,000 face value of quarters. He did have Silver Eagles, Morgan and Peace dollars, but he wasn't selling them in bulk to silver horders.

His argument was that he is a coin shop and his business is selling coins to collectors, of which, he as a devoted customer base. If he allowed the horders to buy up all his stock, he wouldn't have anything for those who have been doing business with him for years.

That being said, I bought $100 face value of quarters for $950 and told him I needed a 1986 Silver Eagle to complete my collection. He charged me $22 for it.

Sounds like utter nonsense to me...

ANY coin dealer, faced with a crazed silver hoarder waving 8-9K in his face for a box of silver is gonna sell anything he's got. They live for these moments of panic. The 'devoted' base you speak of comes in once or twice a month looking for 'something special' and probably wouldn't spend in five years the kind of money a silver hoarder would drop in a day.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Utter nonsense or not, he

Utter nonsense or not, he wouldn't sell them in bulk. I couldn't buy more than one specific date. Now he would have sold me one of each year from 86 to 07, but nothing more.

22.00 for a silver eagle..

22.00 for a silver eagle.. that is the true price of silver right now.. not 12.35!

How about $9.60

How about $9.60

If $22 is the true price,

If $22 is the true price, why on earth are they selling for $16 on bulliondirect???

Can someone please answer this as well as my question regarding purchasing online without being reported to the government. It's all fine and dandy that you can say, "I used it to buy stuff", but I'd like to avoid the whole situation entirely.

Those are delayed

If you check out those coins on BD it says they are delayed 4-6 weeks. People who want something fast and guaranteed are paying a premium for it. You'll also notice that BD has almost completely run out of silver, they don't even sell US 90% anymore in the catalog and almost everything is delayed except the philharmonics and 100 oz bars. How long before they stop selling any silver at all?

On bulliondirect.com they're

On bulliondirect.com they're selling 1 oz. silver coins for $15-$16 per coin. That's $3 over spot....why don't you just buy there, takeaction?

While on the subject of privacy, I went to B of A yesterday to cash my unemployment insurance check which is drawn on their bank. I have been cashing my check their for six months. Well this time the teller pulled out an ink-pad and told me I had to put my finger-print on the check. I told her absolutely not and took my check and left.

1 - 1 oz eagle ?

I just went to apmex

and they have little to no silver. There were no silver bars listed and only single silver American eagles of older years. They do have gold though in limited availability. No matter how anyone feels, there is a problem with supply right now at many dealers. This has to generate higher cost. Some kind of manipulation is undeniable.
