i know an FBI agent in California who is absolutely on the up an
up. there truly are tons of honest people working for all of us. there are even some changing "sides"(at least for the moment) case in point- senator dodd

This "deal" that Paulsen is proposing must provide some sort of "cover" for these guys. And he DOES want absolute "immunity" from any prosecution or lawsuits. The plot thickens!

Maybe congress is stalling for another reason too. Maybe they don't want to interfere with a high profile investigation. After all, I sure would'nt pump them up with a load of cash if there is possible criminal activity going on within these companies.

FBI investigating companies at heart of meltdown

WASHINGTON: The FBI is investigating four major U.S. financial institutions whose collapse helped trigger a $700 billion bailout plan by the Bush administration.
Two law enforcement officials said the FBI is looking at potential fraud by mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., and insurer American International Group Inc.
A senior law enforcement official says the inquiries, still in preliminary stages, will focus on the financial institutions and the individuals that ran them.
Officials say the new inquiries brings the number of corporate lenders under investigation over the last year to 26.
