Dr. Paul Makes a Mistake?

No, not at all.
Edited 08 Nov 2007 1:57pm EST:
After the post by Dale from Oklahoma, which included this article I can see that Dr. Paul made the right choice. My original post continues below. . .

I'm afraid that our esteemed candidate may have made a mistake.
According to this article, he has voted no to impeach Dick Cheney. Many people will see this as an indication that everything is not as it seems with the good doctor.

Dr. Paul said that there was insufficient evidence. However, an impeachment is not a trial - it is a removal of a person from power so that guilt may be determined and so that no more harm may be done by that person while an investigation is pursued.

Most of us believe that there is some hanky-panky going on at the top including, I believe, our esteemed doctor. Something should be done, and I believe that Mr. Kucinich had the right idea and Dr. Paul was wrong this time. The great thing about Dr. Paul is that he is humble enough to admit when he gets something wrong.

On the other hand, there may actually be insufficient evidence - it may be all hearsay. Cheney's belief of WMD's in Iraq may have simply been the regurgitation of CIA reports that were later shown to be false. In that case, Dr. Paul actually did the right thing, regardless of Mr. Cheney's neo-con tendencies. Perhaps Dr. Paul voted "No" on this because he believes that this is not where Mr. Cheney's guilt lies. Unlike the government mindset, which convicted Al Capone on tax evasion instead of the many murders which he committed, perhaps Dr. Paul wants to see the man hung for his real crimes.

Dr. Paul did the right

Dr. Paul did the right thing. Impeachment is not the proper route to go as Ron has suggested. His to vote to kill the bill by sending it to committee shows, that depiste his and our serious disagreement with Cheney, he still takes the Constitution seriously and will not participate in emotional revenge nonsense. Leave that to the career politicians.

I know many may want Cheney impeached, but we should always trust that Dr. Paul is acting in accordance with the Constitution. This was no different. ONWARD TO VICTORY!

Waste of time and taxpayer money

I feel as many do that Cheney and company are probably guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors if not outright treason against the Constitution. Unfortunately, it is too late now to spend millions investigating and putting on a show trial for impeachment when these bums will be out soon enough.

Besides, there are probably more effective ways of making them pay anyway. Once RP is prez, he could always begin a DOJ investigation of the records and public statements, right? ;) Nixon accepted a pardon because he was still a target of investigation and would probably have gone to jail.

All this is, is political

All this is, is political gamesmanship by both sides.
Good move by Paul to stay out of it.

Pelosi

When Pelosi took over she said that the Dems would not pursue any impeachments because the country does not need it.

Later, we find out she might have been protecting her own butt, because she new about pre 911 illegal wire tappings that supported the administration, and the dirt would have been brought out.

We are too late to impeach at this point. Good political move for Dr. Paul.

Call Pelosi

NOW!

Congress

If everyone is so fervent about the House proceeding, WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN online.

Congress' dereliction of duty concerning war powers is the REAL reason we are in this mess, and the REAL reason we are war with Iraq.

There are a hundreds of past and future Dick Cheney's in our government, CONGRESS has to know that there is a CONSTITUTION to protect us from their greedy, maniac ways.

Although some say forget it, I disagree. A hearing like this would tie Bush's hands with Iran. You can count on GW going for one last neo-con infested huzzah next spring. Hearings like this would stop him cold.

Forget about RP on this one.

Liberty and Freedom are a beacon; not a bullet.

He should have abstained.

He should have abstained.

The time to do this would

The time to do this would have been in 2004. It's really too late now. After these buffoons leave office, then let the indictments come.

They want an investigation

now

Please Read

I was disappointed as well, but in the long-run it couldn't have worked out any better. Please read this article and Digg it, whatever that is..LOL We're on the road to letting the American people know exactly what has happened in the recent American History.

Thank you.

That article certainly puts things in a better light. Thank you for posting it.

Not really a mistake

Although I like Dick Cheney about as much as everyone else here, I dont really see a problem with Paul's move.

As mentioned, impeachment preceedings at this point would be a waste of time. Cheney will be gone before anything would happen.

I initially was disappointed

I initially was disappointed about the vote as well. However, the more I think about it, the more I think it was a good move on Dr. Paul's part. By the time impeachment proceedings were initiated, Cheney would be out of office. It seems like a waste of time, in my opinion.

I think he reccommended

and investigation tho. Which is really more appropriate at this stage.

Oh MY

For the last time---I hope!!!

Dr. Paul is for a formal investigation. That is the first thing that has to happen!!!!

Impeachment would come later--Later---Later--LATER

Don't put the cart before the horse like Dennis is trying to do.

Suppose impeachment could work (it won't, but suppose...)

Don't you recall Clinton's? It went on FOREVER. There's no way at this point a successful impeachment could remove Cheney from power before he's out of power anyway. What's the point??? I sure don't see one, unless grandstanding by Dennis counts, that is....
