Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) reports from the floor of the House that the Republicans have been cut out of the process and called unpatriotic for not blindly supporting the fraudulent bailout. He says the only debate has been about what talking points to use on the American people. The most ominous revelation is when he claims the Speaker has declared martial law.

600 billion spending bill is no issue? He had no problem with giving 25 billion to automakers :(.
On a related note
No matter what happens to this bill, the American people need to vote out any congressman who votes in favor of the bill. Those congressmen need to go, and pronto, if we want to see things improve. This bill is a litmus test for who is corrupt and who might still have some hope.

They use this term in Congress, as a type of slang from my understanding, to refer to when a bill is being ramrodded through with no time to investigate it or question it. This, apparently, is what Pelosi has done. Agree with the "buy-in" or else...

I don't understand what he's talking about, and he continues on with another thought right after saying it. Is anyone else confused like I am right now?

Plus keep calling your reps, this is not going to pass. Tell them you will be transfering your Treasury bills into real American money, silver and gold. Start buying food and supplies. When the Chinese and Japanese start selling their government bonds the dollar is going to tank. They have given us no option, they are only offering us more credit. If you listen they are blaming Wall Street, as if the government has no role or responsibility. Do not borrow and do not lend the government your money.

Is he up for re-election?
If he is insinuating a political coup from the wealthy, then he has a responsibility to order their arrests. Unless he is going along with the bailout and wanted to try to calm his constituents before Election Day....
It is Congresses responsibility as a whole to protect the American people, this bail out and the financial crisis that brought us here are all matters of national security, and if proven a threat to that security then the arrests should happen well before a bill is voted on, or at the very least an independent investigation into the motives of those that are rushing this through.

He was basically speaking about the atmosphere on the floor of the House, it appears that Pelosi has used heavy-handed tactics that appear to be little more than Martial Law in the House of Representatives. It's all in the Context folks!

I think it might be a parliamentary procedure
that refers to the House, not the country, to force a quorum for a legit vote. That's not to say the country might not be placed under martial law if things keep going downhill.

It is figurative because the rules of the House require three days to read a bill between introduction and vote but w/ a simple majority the Speaker can call for a vote to over ride this and this is what she is doing and then they can bring up any bill at any time no matter what.
Should sound familiar to a lot of people from state conventions.
