McCotter (R) - Compares Bush/Paulson to Stalin and Mao.
An excellent speech. I am not sure where he stands on other positions. No doubt he supports other Bush policies, but at least, even Republicans can't ignore the executive power grab, anymore.

He shouldn't be insulting
Stalin & Mao. They are better than Bush
Bumping...
Self bump, but only because now that people have seen his other speech, I think people would like to hear the first one.
Sent (R) McCotter a Thank-You for calling it as it is
and urged him to continue to do so until all hear. Awaiting reply.
Anybody in (D) Kaptur's district send her a note too
their all liars
The only reason the republicans are going to vote against it is because they have already done the bean count they already know who is voting for and against it. I say vote them all out.
We will have to
see how he votes. Words are cheap.
holy cow they just added a new amendment
what the heck is going on.

He Just spoke again
On September 29th, 2008 ironman77 says:
He Compared this to Russia Again - Given the choice between Bread and Liberty, the people have chosen Liberty, and I AM WITH THEM !
Huzzah
Whatever he does on other things, He is with us on this.
One problem where has he been for 8 years? If he is such a lover of liberty where was the endorsement for Dr Paul? God we CANNOT have short memories. This guys a crook. Remember they are all the same.

I sure do, too. I would eat
I sure do, too. I would eat worms cooked over an open fire before I would vote for this Act that destroys a large portion of the American Way..
I told my reps and senator
I would rather go through depression than vote for a socialistic regulated corporatism. I told her if these officials want to work in a socialistic or fascist county they can always resign and move to Europe. I told here I was sick at my stomach to watch an american house member standing up and blaming American free market economics. I told her anyone who does that should not be aloud to be an offecer of this country. I told her this bill is worse than the first one. It is clear that we have not had a free maket in years because the fed and treasury have had their hands all in our market. they need to get their socialist hands out of our markets. It is socialism that is killing this country and it will destroy this world. I tokld anyone who vote yes on giving even one penny of our money to even help in this will be so easy to replace I have already been around my precinct and I promise a yes vote will cost you your job we the people will not forget this vote.
cspan
Just saw his speech on CSPAN. It was good. He used Andrew Jackson's defeat of the central bank in 1832.
wow
he just spoke on the floor to his CONSTITUANTS basically telling them(us) that this bill will pass against his will and taking our freedom right along with it. he is a true patriot! he said he stands with main street.
~peace
Great speech on the floor JUST NOW
McCotter said he chooses liberty over bread
Bravo
Well I have complained to him on a good number of
immigration bills/issues and I really didn't care for his responses.
He has a Libertarian: John Tatar, running against him this fall BTW
From the Sunday Paper "McCotter's support of the Patriot Act and Resolutions 6166 and 5122 are what drove him to run" as in Tatar's opinion they have destroyed the Bill of Rights and Constitution. He is in favor of a gold standard to replace the Federal Reserve Fiat money system. He is a retired HS teacher, 59 and, is in the Army Reserve.
Also running a Green Party candidate; Erik Shelley who states that it is the failure to impeach GW Bush that causes him to run this year. He says his attempts to speak with McCotter on this issue have been totally dismissed by his office. He is 42 and an audio engineer.
thanks alot
8 years later, when the cow is out of the barn so far that all they can do is give speeches. Eventually, the votes will be negotiated, both sides will be seen as helping pass it, and the most vulnerable members will be allowed to skate with a "no" vote. Again...where have the heroes been for 8 years? Shows how bad things need to get before republicans can publicly ignore what they have done or allowed to be done to the country. I'm sooooooo impressed.
chills
another lightworker? let the light shine in!! i love the truth don't you?!!

affirmation: President Paul
affirmation: President Paul 2008
Good speech but I wish he'd stop talking about House Republicans. Marcy Kaptur and Dennis Kucinich have been amazing during this debacle. This is not about Dems vs Republicans.
I have to agree!
How I wish there were an affirmation on that! A close friend of mine was telling me she was harassed yesterday for saying don't blame me, I voted for Ron Paul, was told it's all her fault then for allowing the "progressives" to take over, wasted her vote, etc., etc., she was pissed! People have no clue, still!
"Truth is treason in the Empire of Lies."
Agreed...
But I am always willing to give them a little political room as long as they are ultimately doing the right thing.
Excellent speech.
I don't know this guys history, but the points made in this speech were right on, and he was calling the administration out.
I find it odd that the ideological purity net is cast so stringently here, that a speech like this is nit-picked, yet on the other hand folks are singing the praises of Nader and Kucinich. While they are allies in some select and important fights (including this one), are diametrically opposed on so many other positions. I respect Nader and Kucinich greatly, and I even voted for Nader against W., but he is a New Dealer. Republicans are so often singled out here, yet the party (at least in word) was much closer to the liberty message on many points than it's counterpart. Indeed, this bailout would be a done deal if it were not from the substantial rebellion from house GOP members.
The historical ties and crossover connections between the Libertarians and the GOP dwarf those of the Democratic party. A little perspective is in order.
The war that we are engaged in requires all who would share in the struggle, including this Representative.
That is true.
I have respect for Kucinich as well, and many others but flaws in these individuals are overlooked much quicker than in Republicans.
Maybe it is because, we, as a group, and generally speaking, were so mistreated and in such a consistent manner, by the Republican Party that it is hard to believe that any of them may be on our side.
And, like I said, I don't know that this guy is on our side in anything else, and yes we should watch to make sure his vote matches his rhetoric.
But it was a damned good speech and the more people that we have talking like this the better.
