Now that the political ruling class has seen what the citizens can do, how about mobilizing to declare victory in Iraq, bring the troops home and save $10 billion per month? The Congress was elected to do this in 2006 and has done nothing.

One sour note is reading the banker-boot-licking commentary from the Associated Press. There was once a time when the mainstream media was idiotic and liberal, but at least populist. Not any more.

Not only is there hope, there is more hope than any of us ever dreamed! They aren't powerful enough yet to enact these in the light of day, and the instant everyone got up and said "No. NO! A thousand times no!" let me tell you, the sun came up and day broke!!!

I reckon the veterans on both sides know it took at least three tries to create the federal reserve; it was vehemently opposed by the people and the politicians. The bankers had to try over and over and ultimately sneak it in just before a congressional recess (hmmm, sounds familiar...:)

We haven't heard the last of these guys; they will not accept a stalemate. They will keep trying until either we criminalize them, or they criminalize us. So far, its been a mixed battle, but now I see they are strong, but the people are immensely strong; and its late in the game, but not yet too late in the game.

Next time they try to pass this bill, they must be stopped again. And the time after that, when they try, they must be stopped again. And the time after that, they must be stopped again. And everytime they try to push a similar bill, or any of dozens of other illegal bills, over the next year, 2 years, 3,4,5 years, 10,15,20 years, they must be stopped.

But I propose we accelerate the process; get off the defensive and meet these criminals head on. Challenge them in the courts, in the media, and in the streets; and fight the cancer that they are with the same ferocity that we fought their latest symptom, the (2008 version of) the Fascism for Finance bill.

Ron Paul has showed us that we have a choice; and what's been done today has shown us that we have a voice. We no longer run and hide from the criminals and the problems they cause; now let's turn around and face them, challenge them, and throw them in jail.

I would commend the Dems who voted nay when Pelosi and majority leader are FOR the bailout. Congratulations to the Dems and all....to the people!!!

Beware, the latest scare tactic from the politicians and the MSM is your employer cannot meet "payroll" because they cannot get a loan. They want us to believe that because the bailout failed you will not receive your next paycheck. IMO, any company that needs to borrow money to make their payroll should not be in business in the first place. They are laughable -- what a bunch of idiots.

Let's not confuse this by pretending the vote went along party lines, otherwise we may just as well read The Weekly Standard.
40% of Democrats voted against it, 33% of Republicans voted for it. That's only a very weak party correlation; it probably had more to do with the makeups of their districts than what party they were in.
Don't let this great blog descend into partisan allegiance; we must keep clear heads and take each rep based on their own actions. Indeed, if I had approached the election last year with a blind party mentality, I never would have watched the Republican debates, dominated by Giuliani, Thompson, Huckabee, Romney, and McCain, and never would have been fairly introduced to Ron Paul.

Is this the final, final answer? No appeal???

The scary part is that it failed by such a small margin.
