I WANT to vote for you in November, I do.
I'm a Republican. I'm conservative. I hate taxes and big, coercive government. And of course, Jeanne Shaheen loves taxes, loves spending, loves big coercive government.
I worry about this bailout bill though. It's big coercive government. It's spending. It's going to create money out of thin air and damage the dollar. No one seems to get that. I guess we could BORROW that money, right? I mean what's 10 trillion dollars of national debt? We'll get that paid off someday.
Right?
But 300 billion, 700 billion, a trillion bucks, just tack that on?
Not to mention, does the government have any right to intervene into private enterprise? Doesn't that almost sound socialist? Does Wall Street deserve a PENNY (protected or not protected, whatever that means) from me, a New Hampshire taxpayer? I give you my money to do one thing: protect my liberties. That's government's job. If the economy blows up because my bank is run by idiots, I need to find another bank. If my representatives in Congress feel the need to financially support these banks run by idiots, I think I need to find different people to join Congress.
Sen. Sununu, I'm not voting for Jeanne Shaheen in November. I want to vote for you, but if you support a bill that could give up to one trillion dollars into the hands of private businessmen that can't run a business, then I might have to look at another option on the ballot.
His name is Ken Blevens. He's a Libertarian. I'm fairly confident that he's against big, coercive government, and spending. I'm sure he's against giving money to private businesses because they couldn't handle their own size. I can only hope you are too.
Because if you vote for this bill, I'm sure alot of angry conservatives, republicans and independents and possibly even some democrats, might vote for him instead of you. I probably would. And this race is so close, it only takes a few percentage points to change things around.

Vote against the bailout. The reason it failed in congress is because the constituents of the representatives said NO BAILOUT and they were forced to listen. That gives you no excuse to pass this bill.

Charlie Gibson reported tonight on ABC that internet access to Congress is being limited due to a large number of folks trying to reach their Representatives; they are afraid that the system will breakdown. Access has been slowed down on purpose by technicians. I am skeptical as to the reason for limiting access. Can someone check this out and see if it is legitimate? If we cannot reach our Representatives over the Internet then we will have to find another means of communications. Thanks

Seems to me that if we want to take power away from the elite who benefit from the Federal government, then people need to stop holding and investing in T-bills and become their own bank. An investment in T-bills empowers the elitists controlling the Federal government. Withdrawling our investment is their biggest fear. Holding onto T-bills locks up dollars as they say. I suggest investing in something other than T-bills such as physical food, supplies, silver and gold. These items, if purchased locally, stimulate the local economy and the individual is empowered. I told them if you are a true Missourian and you love the people of your state you will "Show me" I notice everyone on the floor is talking about how we have to do something and that something seems to be the American tax payer paying for this bailout. Again if my senator have this much faith in the Fed reserve I look forward to seeing how much of your own personal wealth you are willing to just hand over to the the Fed reserve. I mean its not like its costing you anything at the end it will come back to you by paying down the defecit. It would seem to me from the way they are talking about how great and trustworthy Old Ben and paulison are you would be willing to give your entire fortunes to them so they can save the country. I know my forefather loved their country enough to give that and even their lives for it. I told the guy I don't think my senators would be willing to do this because they don't trust the Fed either. I keep hearing about oversite over the American market. It does better when it is left alone its when we put our hands in it that it gets messed up. I think the disconnect between the People and the government is non of the elected officials seem to even bring up regulating the Fed. Why can't Congress get in to see the state of our union. Why cant they count the gold. They don't have to tell the people anything but why can't they get in. The American people do not trust the Fed as much as those in Washington and We do not want any I repeat any of our tax dollars to be given to them. We will never see it again. And if the elected people have so much faith in them then be the first to give 40% of your wealth to to the Fed first and "Show Me"

I called the House Minority Leader's office, John Boehner - Republican, and his staff was incredibly rude with me and so I called another office and they were also short and unbecoming. It appears that we need to focus all of our attention on the players in the House and Senate and also go after those in our respective states who voted for this bill. Each time we call them, we tighten their noose and pressure builds. I believe our calls are having an incredible impact and I must encourage each of you to place 20-50 calls per day and with this commitment, we can free the chains which binds us to the evil within our system. good luck and have fun...the rEVOLution is here to stay!

I called my Congressman, Jack Murtha, at his Capitol Hill office and voiced my opinion against the bailout - Jack voted for it.

I spoke with an aide for about 5 minutes and explained my position. I was sure to let her know that I lost thousands of dollars worth of savings yesterday but was recovering a bit today. I told her how any loss or gain that I have in the stock market is a result of my own actions and that quite frankly neither I nor anyone else deserve any type of bailout. Simply put, that is not the American way.

She listened to my position and then explained that of the proponents of the bailout. We had a good, polite discussion for which we thanked each other. While it appears at this time that it is unlikely that Jack will change his vote, I would not call it out of the question. After all, he and I disagreed on giving Bush authority to use force in Iraq back in 2002 and he was man enough to later say that I was right and he was wrong.

I was thrilled with the result yesterday. Then I turn on CNBC and they are using every subtle media manipulation they can get CONgress to pass this unconstitutional bill. I fear they will just keep trying different ways to create a financial dictatorship. And I think people will be so mad when they do this the REAL crash begins ... Sleepless in St. Louis.

I live in Missouri and called, thanked and begged those Reps in my state that voted NO to be strong for us and vote no on any bailout that included taxpayer money. I told them that the sky didn't fall and the market is up and they agreed. Also, I stated that CSNBC reported this morning that the banks were not going to be able to extend lines of credit for smaller and midsized businesses, only larger businesses.

This is strong-armed tactics!! Since the market is up, they have to state something that will scare Americans and Congress.

Then I called the Reps that voted Yes and told them to reconsider.
One of the Congressmen (who voted YES) that I called was Rep Emerson. I started out telling the aid that I was extremely disappointed that she voted yes for the bailout. He interrupted me and asked my zipcode and then stated that he couldn't talk to me because I wasn't in her district. I said "I live in the state of Missouri and she is a Missouri Representative and I will finish my statement"

He hung up on me lol. I called back and got the same guy and yelled "The sky didn't fall and the market is up, so there!! He hung up on me again.

Anyone on here that has her for a Representative, please give her a call :)

"You may be interested to know that every day there are more and more people like myself who are waking up to the workings of the political process and are angry enough to do something about it. It is extremely unfortunate that you decided to vote in favor of the bailout bill. The attached letter will be included in our local paper's Opinion section."

I just got off the phone with the offices of Senators Burr and Dole.

Burr plans on voting for the bailout and states his reason to be because of the events that happened in Congress..after speaking to some Congressmen...and that it would help the economy.

Dole however does not plan to vote for the bailout...UNLESS certain changes where made..none where stated.

I left a message for Burr..That I would do everything in my power to vote his teason ass right out of office, and that it should be the Fed that got destroyed NOT the American people.

I left a thank you for Dole, but ask that she NOT vote on the bill no matter what changes where made. I also ask her to look into HR 2755, the bill introduced by Ron Paul.

A friend called and urged me to phone the White House and my pathetic congressman, Frank Wolf (R), telling them to "suspend market value regulations and support the Republican alternative ... which LENDS money, at interest, to Wall Street and the banks."

The Bailout was defeated yesterday in Congress!

If you do not know who your Rep is, call the congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121. They can also patch you through to your rep's office where you can tell them your opinion.

This Bailout will be back to vote again later this week. We only have a couple days to let our voices be heard, once again, that we will vote out any rep that supports this godawful bailout bill, or any compromise version of it!

It feels good to win one battle, but the real fight coming. Enjoy the victory but stay focused and keep the pressure on our elected representatives. They will never give up trying stick the taxpayers with the dead assets, and privatize the profits. We can never give up fighting this insanity. Contact you senators now, and congress again.

He is saying the issue now is to focus on passing a bill to Audit the Fed!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what our message to congress should be at this point in the game:

1) Regulations and restrictions on the Federal Reserve need to immediately be put in place to keep them from wreaking the economy.

2) Pass a bill to Audit the Fed and hold them accountable.

I called them all. I know one had voted no and I thank told them thank you and to stand firm. The lady was thrilled to not be getting yelled at and I know she will tell him and I hope it helps him to do the right thing. It made me feel good to call, like I was empowered. I recommend it to everyone.

Having a hard time getting through via email or phone. Just keep on trying!

Now is not the time to just call and complain to those who voted for the bailout or thank those who voted against it.

Now is the time to start addressing the core problems that led us to this situation. They like to say it was because banks loaned money to people who can't pay it back. Instead, we need to ask why there was so much money in the first place that banks would loan money to those people - DEFICITS AND THE FED.

We need to balance the budget. Call every congressman who voted against the bailout and thank them and then tell them the next step needs to be to offer a real solution: Balance the budget. They need to make the hard spending cuts to get is out of this mess. That might even involve military spending!

Be respectful. But this is the time to propose a real solution instead of a band aid.

The Senate is where this thing will appear next.
The Senate is a much less responsive body, and is much less likely to be swayed by public opinion because of their 6 year election terms.

The best hope is to get Sen. Bunning or Sen. Shelby to filibuster this bill at the outset, before it gets going anywhere.
That will delay any movement on the bill.
The Senate will then have to get a Cloture Vote of 60 members to break the filibuster, or it can go on indefinitely, or until they just cancel the bill and move on.

That's our first step, is to try for the delaying or bill-busting efforts of a Senate filibuster.

After that, it will probably go to "Conference" which is a very bad omen.
The "Conference" will end up selling us down the river.
At that point, we must again focus on the House members to kill this Conference Bill, or else we're sunk.

Look folks.
We've seen all this process before many times.
This is how they do things that we oppose.
They work it around all kinds of obstacles, and weave around the Mulberry bush, and down the block and back, and come out the other side, hoping we've been worn down and can't fight anymore. Then they kill us.
