Peter DeFazio
I did something this week I thought I wold never do. I thanked Rep DeFazio for voting no on the bailout bill. It was through his office, but the deed was done none the less. Peter and I used to go loggerheads at town halls when I actually had time for such things. When the personal "thank you" goes out, should he hold firm, he will probably choke on his icewater.
Don't get me wrong, I think Pete is a nice guy, but I also believe his voting record is well to the left of center. This vote alone might persuade me to not oppose his reelection through my twice yearly precinct walk.
As to his alternative, well the correct alternative should be to return to an asset based economy, a return to sound money, or at least the repeal of the Federal Reserve, but I did not see any of that in his alternative.
I'm Still Doing It
but man I'm depressed. There needs to be a Plan B, and I don't know what that is.
The worst moment in Congress since 1913.

The Congress needs to go back to the drawing board. Seek the advice of experts, not employed by the government, remove any Congressman who has received donations from any banker/investment firm/or insurance company. This may prove to be a daunting task, however if it is not accomplished then the taxpayers can not get an equitable bill here.
The whole basic reason we find our country in such a crisis now is the greed, false loyalty, and back door deals that have infected our government and investors. Find Congress members with out an agenda of their own.
I look forward to seeing you among the honorable Statesman who, in this pressured Senate vote, NAY to this bill HR3997

You might want to mention treason if they vote for this.
Seems to me that if we want to take power away from the elite who benefit from the Federal government, then people need to stop holding and investing in T-bills and put wealth in their own bank. An investment in T-bills empowers the elitists controlling the Federal government. Remember T-bills are just paper, just like FRNs. Withdrawling our investment is their biggest fear. Holding onto T-bills locks up dollars as they say. I suggest investing in something other than T-bills such as physical food, supplies, silver and gold. These items stimulate our economy and the individual is empowered. But, what the hell do I know?

I've called my senators in NJ and told them we know they co-opted HR 3997 to get the bailout the bankers want, even though it was defeated by the house of representatives. We know their dirty tricks and theirs going to be hell to pay if this goes through. Also I told them to vote for HR 2775 to abolish the Fed and to ask for the resignation of Paulson, Bernanke, and Cox.
my letter
Dear Senator Gregg,
Good morning!
Along with my fellow citizens across the country, I raised my voiced against the bail-out and was relieved that Congress listened, and very proud that my NH Congresspeople followed suit.
Please do not let the Senate circumvent the will of the people. Let the banks fail and undo if they must; let them lean themselves of their largess caused by fractional banking; let the free market fix this mess, not Paulson and all the rest that held causal roles in it.
In the end, I would meet a hard and rocky economic road ahead with a smile and determination as long as I knew that that road's destination was one DETERMINED by the people and PROTECTED by their elected officials and NOT twisted and muddled and pot-holed by a select few with corporate interests -- interests that the average American shall never fall privy to but will be ultimately be affected by.
To let the profits of these banks be gifted to shareholders and CEOs while the losses shared among taxpayers is certainly unjust and dare I say --- just about criminal.
Please, I plead with you, vote 'no' on a revised bail-out this Wednesday.
Thank you and God Bless!

Did they really postpone this for Holidays?
It couldn't be much of a crisis if so.
More likely, the powers that be needed a little time to bribe/blackmail certain congressmen into voting for the next bill.
Speaking of this bill, has it changed since Monday?
It isn't over yet, we have to keep this down this week, 3 days.

made some interesting comments yesterday on the liberal Tom Hartmann's radio show: says Goldman Sachs had a lot invested in AIG, and this is one reason why they so called bailed out AIG, if AIG would go down, GS would also go down. Also important is that he says many of AIG's business units are actually very profitable, and they could have separated the company from the loss making units. He also mentioned the monopoly that Paulson would have to decide who merge with whom, who goes down etc... all in the interest of Goldman Sachs.
Also interesting on Larry King Palin's position on the bailout was touched upon by James Carville. Michelle Bachmann, who voted NO on the bailout and is an admirer of Palin, indicated we have to wait till the debate with Biden. Palin has already indicated her support on the Katie Couric interview.
Thursday even is going to be the debate as well as the vote of congress. It is going to be very interesting when Palin supports the bail-out, but Bachmann and other pro-Palin congressmen/women vote NO!

NO BAILOUT, NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!!!!!
No bailout, "rescue", puppy dogs for orphans, or whatever other insulting, patronizing names are devised to mask this brazen HEIST by the Wall St. elites and their co-conspirators in government.
I am opposed to this type of legislation in any way shape or form. I don't care how it is dressed up or mitigated. I don't care if provisions are added to provide a free house for every man, woman and child in the country, or to require every corrupt, overcompensated CEO to pick up trash by the side of the highway for all of eternity.
The correct action for congress to take to address the "crisis" is NO action. Please! You've done too much already! Just get out of the way!
More and more people are discovering the truth every day. You would be surprised at how many of your constituents understand that government intervention of the type created by the bailout plan serves only to covertly transfer wealth from average people to financial elites through monetary inflation, and furthermore cannot "soften" or reverse a recession, but can only worsen and prolong it by preventing the liquidation of bad assets and further perpetuating the malinvestment that caused the crisis.
Please consider your vote carefully. There is a rapid shift in consciousness occurring. The political class is in the process of losing all credibility in the eyes of the average person who still bothers to vote.
This is what I wrote Feinstein.........
Word for word, I sent it just now!
Senator,
I am emailing you to tell you as a Veteran of this country, a citizen, and a believer in the Constitution, I am urging you to vote no on the bailout! Now they are pushing it as a "rescue" plan.
I have studied economics ten fold, so when I say no to the bail out, I understand why, I know what it is for, and I know it is a scam to the people of this great country!!!!!
You are offering our tax dollars to banks that are practically foreign owned!!!!
We need to bail out the people, then we can turn this economy around.
Senator, if this thing passes and you vote yes, I can honestly say you will labeled as a disgrace to this nation because we all know what is about to happen.
The Federal Reserve is already acting on your behalf, so why are you going to bend us over and sodomize us with this plan!!!!! And remember Senator, sodomy is against the law in the state of California, and most states as well, so please, be kind to the citizens of this country who will be screwed.
I have hope for this nation, but I know the Federal Reserve has pumped money into this economy, so whatever you say about this bailout it is not true, now you are going to piggy back this piece of dung to another piece of dung, which in turn will make a poop sandwich.
This country as it turns out has seen this kind of thing before, and a real knowledgeable person of economics knows the Federal Reserve is the real reason why our nation's economy suffers. I ask you this Senator and I want an answer form this:
Why do we have a privately run group pf bankers who happen to have the word "Federal" in there name, take control of our markets, our money, our policies, and now our lives?!?!?!?! Why do we have them?!?!?! Riddle me this Senator!
I once again implore you, as someone who cares about this nation and have fought for it, I say vote NO! No on the bail out of the financial institutions who intentionally put themselves in this situation.
If you are in the business of rewarding stupidity, then I will say this, if you vote yes on this measure of the bailout, I will personally send you an award for such acts. Have a nice day, because your name in history hangs in the balance.

My email to my senators
I used one of the letters below as a template and simplified it somewhat. Here is the version I sent to my senators:
---
Dear Senator [last name]:
I recently called your office to express that I do -not- support the $700 billion economic bailout bill. I remain strongly opposed to it, and do not want any government bailouts or help in response to the current economic crisis. I expect a "nay" vote from you on any further legislation regarding or including any portion of this bill.
I understand that there is a huge economic crisis. However, I and many others I know are prepared to weather the storm, including a possible depression. We would rather suffer now than have the suffering prolonged by having said legislation enacted.
The current economic crisis is the direct result of artificially low interest rates and a debt-based monetary policy established by the Federal Reserve Bank. No amount of government bailout or intervention will correct this problem. In fact, it will merely serve to prop up a system that private investors are not willing to support. This bill will do immense harm to the free market principles upon which our nation and economy are based. Thank you very much for reading my message.
Regards,
[my name]
I also emailed my representatives with this message
No banker bailout!
Listen to history:
The 1907 US recession ended quickly because they let the bad institutions default and be bought out.
The 1929 depression languished because of government intervention.
The 1966 Japan recession ended quickly because they let the bad institutions default and be bought out.
The 1990s Japan recession languished because of government intervention.
Listen to history! No banker bailout!
When You Call, Call with an alternative
HR 2755 and HR 4653 are the Abolishment of the Federal Reserve and the Competition in Currency Acts. (Both filed, submitted, and introduced by Ron Paul)
Strike while the iron is hot. Most of them WANT to vote for an alternative. Give it to them.
Demand that Paulson, Bernanke and Cox are impeached.
Demand that the Senate leadership be impeached.
There is no place in a free republic for the machinations which the Senate & House leadership has engaged in.
Tell them you will consider a vote in favor of any form of bailout or unprecedented authority to the Secretary of the Treasury as a violation of their oath of office, an abdication of that office, and you interpret their vote to be a statement by them that they are accomplices to treason.
Good Point, Thanks

So if our Senator(s) vote for the bill...
shall we vote them out of office at the earliest opportunity?

I wonder if the people that agree, but are planning on voting for Obama or McCain, will rethink their support?

my letter to dianne feinstein
Dear Senator,
This would mark the third time this year i am writing you regarding bogus legislation of which i have desperately appealed to you to reject. It has been widely noted that key appointments from the now infamous 'bailout bill' that was rejected (thankfully) by the house will now be appended onto a separate bill that will be up for vote on wednesday night. Against my (and many other constituents') pleas, you have voted in favor of those controvertial bills, i can only hope that with this upcoming piece of bogus legislation you will vote with a voice of justice and liberty.
We the people do NOT want a bailout bill to pass as legislation by either the house, or the senate, in ANY shape or form.
This goes beyond petty (albeit completely justified) anger towards the notion that our hard earned money would be going towards saving institutions that have basically gambled money they never had on what was thought to be a sure winning bet that the housing market bubble could not possibly burst. And as bursting bubbles have a history of repeating themselves, it did just that. And now instead of federally investigating these institutions with the full scrutiny and attention of congress and the FBI, we are being asked, with the threat of a catastrophic 'or-else' situation, we are being asked to pick up the tab to buy up all of the over inflated, now near worthless assets which brought many of these institutions to their financial knees.
And just as history of bubbles have a funny way of repeating themselves, so does the history of market and price intervention. it is now a popular opinion of the democratic-led congress in both house and senate that we must give out this money and the people will feel better so long as we make sure the CEO's of these companies that will be getting aid arent making millions?
NO! We are worried that by opening up a BLANK check to buy up worthless assets and try to resell those assets at some market-mechanism based price estimate, we will utterly LOSE out. We arent concerned about golden parachutes, we arent concerned about being 'protected', we arent concerned about little bells and whistles the democratic negotiations have managed to pin onto this monstrosity. We care about the very real threat of assuming TRILLIONS of dollars of debt assumed over the next two years. We care about this compounded with the TRILLIONS of dollars the wars on terror are costing this nation and the extra near TRILLION dollars worth of credit the federal reserve has put out into the market in order to frantically shore up the world economy. We're afraid of the very real threat this bill causes to inflate our dollar off the charts, stealing wealth and buying power from every single hard working american tax payer right out of their wallets. We're pissed off that moral hazard has been effectively thrown into the wind, rewarding fraudulent behavior at the cost of the responsible. We're relentless because we the people see this as the singular, largest transfer of wealth from the wallets of the many into the offshore bank accounts of a few.
I implore you with ounce of urgency that i can conjure, not to support this blatant, blind-sided thievery that is about to be approved by the very ones that the people have elected to represent their best interest. I cant imagine that history will judge kindly on the fateful congressional body that so boldly voted in favor for paving the road to economic depression once again, and i cant imagine your constituents would judge you so favorably come the next gubernatorial cycle.
With best wishes and in liberty,
-steve s

Bill Number?
Anyone have the senate bill # or has it even been drawn up yet?
no
If the senate does pass the bail out bill then it is again violating the constitution because all legislation to tax and spend must originate in the house of representatives.
Liberty is our campaigns gift to the world it is our manifest destiny.
Freedom is a movement who's time has come. Our campaign will lead world wide freedom.
What about regulatory "reform"?
We know the banksters were looking for legal cover (along with some of our money) during the first go-around. But they want other things too, and maybe the Senate can help them out with that part. Jim Sinclair posted this on jsmineset.com today:
"Dear Friends,
Please stop being spectators and put an end to financial fabrication!
Get involved in the Wall Street Bailout Bill.
If this bill is passed financial institutions will be freed from fair accounting rules that require them to reveal the true market value of the value-less paper they hold. That would allow them to continue lying about their solvency.
You simply must not let that happen. It legislates financial fabrication!
This is the first time in my 67 years that legislators are listening to the public, so please tell them what you want on this bill, whether it be yes or no, but do not support lying as an economic tool.
Have we not already had ENOUGH of fabricated, spun, mistruths?
Vote No against a change in Fair Accounting Rules. Vote any way you wish on the rest of this meaningless exercise."
No, because they aren't actually paying for it.
Appropriations are supposed to originate in the House, but this isn't a spending bill. They aren't even saying how it'll be paid for, just a future promise to talk about it. Sad isn't it?
Another Great IDEA onanother string
EMAIL your STATE LEGISLATURE with the Following:
Dear Representative Gattis,
If this “BAIL-OUT” bill passes I am demanding that you call for emergency action in the state legislature. I demand votes of NO CONFIDENCE in the US CONGRESS.
Additionally I demand the legislatures to draft a constitutional amendment REPEALING the bailout bill and BARRING the congress from ever bailing out another private entity ever again.
The Senate Web-site says it is “Celebrating “ the Constitution. Which Constitution? Since when did the constitution say that the Senate can pass a spending bill without the Congressional Legislatures approval?
A vote for this bailout is tantamount to declaring open hostilities on us “the PEOPLE” and we must meet political force with OVERWHELMING POLITICAL FORCE. The states need to get ready for a fight! A Fight for the CONSTITUTIONAL limitations placed on ALL 3 BRANCHES of the Federal Government.

Thanks Greg, here is Mine:
Dear Senator Hutchison,
The people of Texas, including ourselves, have spoken and Representative Carter listened. We do not want ANY Government bailouts/assistance or help in response to the current economic crisis. We expect a NO vote from you on any further legislation pertaining, or related, to the Economic Emergency Stabilization Act of 2008 (the $700 Billion Bailout Bill).
We do indeed understand there is a huge economic crisis. However, we are prepared to weather the storm (including a possible Severe Depression).
Our current economic crisis is the direct result from the debt-based monetary policy established in the United States by the private, for profit, Federal Reserve Bank. No amount of government “bailout/intervention" will produce any long-term positive results. We repeat, no amount of government “bailout/intervention” will produce any long-term positive results. In fact it would actually do the opposite since it is the excessive borrowing and spending by our United States Government and Citizens that is the root of our crisis today. You cannot solve the problem with the problem itself.
Once again, we do expect a NO vote from you on any further legislation pertaining, or related, to the Economic Emergency Stabilization Act of 2008 or any BILL that has this item -in ANY FORM- attached to it.
