Someone Give Me the Basics on Freemasonry, Please

I once worked at a lumber yard in a small southern town. I was friendly to everyone. One day a nice gentleman that I had helped in the store several times handed me a blue form. He told me just to look it over and if I felt the need, to let him know. It was a form of some kind with all these rules about who to contact if I was interested and how to join Freemasonry. It freaked me out because it had all these rules and promises I had to follow just to even reply to the invitation. I got that "feeling" one gets and threw it away. He was still very nice even though I never brought it up again. He seemed like a good guy, kind of quiet, but I don't think he rules the world. What's the deal? Just the basic conspiracy, I know about the trade secrets and what not.

Thanks

Ask one to be one

Masons invite they do not advertise. Look up your local masonic group or lodge in the telephone book or online. Call and ask them. Or if you see a mason wearing a ring, ask him what it means.

I do not buy into all the "talk" about freemasonry on this site. My father and brothers are masons. They do an incredible amount of volunteer and community service plus support youth groups, scholarships, etc. In fact, I just made my last payment this month on my second interest-free loan while working on my PhD.

I was a Rainbow girl, which is another youth group sponsored by the masonic lodge, and I did a lot of volunteer work as well as socializing, etc.

There is nothing that you could say that would divorce me from my positive opinion of the freemasons.

Even Fred Flintstone and the water buffalo had a secret handshake...

I agree...my elders in my family are freemasons and I might join as well. I will never stop defending this Republic though...that is where my devotion lies. I took an oath upon entering the US Navy and it will never die.

What this gal explains above is true...stop being so paranoid. Yes...at the national level there may be infiltrators...but the Masons were behind the fight against King George in the Revolution people. Masonic principles are against what we face today....gosh...stop it!

A club within a club

The outer club is doing bake sales and charity drives, while the inner club is a Satanic cult.

I sense an anti-mason bait in this topic

Honestly- you can get through any political debate handily without knowing the first thing about masonry- it just isnt relevant.

Freemasonry in your search engine and you can learn all about them.

um

That never would have happened. You're a liar.

Maybe he is not a liar...however I agree...it is not normal for freemasons to solicit. You generally have to come to them of your own accord. Not that you cannot be talking to a friend who is a freemason and have them talk to you about it. Just that freemasons are NOT generally 'evangelical'. From what I know from my family(older generations)...it is against the creed to solicit.
