Senator Mikulski (D-MD) YOU ARE FIRED!
I am outraged! Senator Mikulski actual said, on the floor of the Senate “I’m deeply troubled by where we find ourselves when the House Republicans are defying their own President.” They don’t work for him, they work for us! She seems to have forgotten that she works for the people of Maryland. Here is what she had to say about us – “…in the last 72 hours I’ve gotten close to 8,000 emails and only 30 were for this bill. I’ve gotten over 1,300 phone calls and almost all were against the bailout" “We listen to them loud and clear...” Yet she is still going to vote for this steaming pile. She went on to say that our democratic process in action was “hubbub”. HUBBUB?! Then she called for GW to become the “Commander of the Economy”. In other words, DICTATOR.

Really didn't mean to bump this, BUT:
I need a way to vent.
I just finally got a reply from one of my senators and I can barely stand myself right now. So I thought writing it out might help.
Her reply to my email trying to get her not to vote on the bailout was:

Dear Mr. Xxxxxxxx:
Thank you for getting in touch with me about the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (P.L. 110-343). It's good to hear from you.
I know that taxpayers are mad as hell, and so am I. They've watched Wall Street executives pay themselves lavish salaries. They've watched irresponsible lending practices. They've watched Wall Street gamble on risky investment mechanisms. Now those very same Americans who've worked hard and played by the rules are being asked to pay the bill for those who didn't.
Time and time again we have seen the consequences of loose regulations and wimpy enforcement. Time and time again I voted for more teeth and better regulation. I voted to get the lead paint out of toys and the lead out of the bureaucracy at the Consumer Product Safety Commission. I voted to strengthen Federal Drug and Administration (FDA) to make sure it didn't approve dangerous drugs. I also worked to stop predatory lending and flipping in the mortgage market.
I remember back in 1999 when this banking mess got started. I was one of the nine Senators who voted against the bill that got rid of the division between investment banks and commercial banks. It lowered the bar on regulation and allowed for casino economics.
Now, we are facing a credit crisis that affects everyone - from people getting loans for college, to the small business owner who depends on credit to buy inventory. If we do not deal with this credit crisis, I believe that the Main Street economy will have to pay the bill for the bailout and pay the bill again in lost jobs, and in shrinking retirement and pensions.
Regrettably, this rescue is necessary to restore confidence and stability in our economy. The final version that passed is vastly improved from the three page bill that President Bush and Secretary Paulson originally sent to Congress. It protects tax payers, provides oversight and transparency, and rejects using tax payer dollars to finance golden parachutes for Wall Street CEOs. That's why I voted for it. This legislation was necessary to protect our economy, our middle class, and our way of life. But I heard the taxpayers loud and clear. Much more needs to be done to provide for rigorous reform and retribution against those who broke the law.
The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act was passed by both the House and Senate, and was recently signed into law by the President. Knowing of your views was very helpful to me, and I will keep them in mind. If you'd like to read more, I encourage you to visit the "News Room" page of my website at http://mikulski.senate.go... where you can read the transcripts of my three floor statements on this issue.
Again, thanks for contacting me. Please let me know if I can be of help to you in the future.
Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator

So I let her know how I felt about it again.
This reply is the biggest bunch of dung I have ever read and I find it insulting to my intelligence. Go back and read the story of Davey Crockett. It was not yours to give, and especially not to them. Your job should have been to let them fold and then watch the market straighten itself out. Maybe it would take a few years, but it would have went faster then it will now that Paulson and the rest of the cartel can do whatever they want, whenever they want.
I think you and the other money mongers should be ashamed of yourself and be hiding in a cave somewhere afraid to show your shameful faces in public again. I know you are not up for re-election soon, but I promise that the people have a long memory, and if they don't, I will be out there reminding them when it comes your turn. I am sorry ma'am, you do not represent me, or a huge majority or your constituency.

I feel better now.

How did this stupid wench ever get elected???
Pawnstorm
Have Barbara and Ben arrested...
Contact your law enforcement authorities, including the military. This bill violates the Constitution , and it is time our Senators remember they, too, are subject to the rule of law.
She and Cardin
are useless for the state of Maryland...
There was an opportunity to change things with Zeese, but alas it didn't happen.
She has always been a phoney bologna in my book. A friend of mine thinks she is the greatest - I would be very interested in video of her saying those things to share with my friend - I'm sure we'll have an instant convert.
My Letter to Senator Mikulski
Senator Mikulski,
I have long been a supporter of yours and have voted for you ever since you arrived on the scene. In the past I have seen some excellent representation of the common man/woman through your support of them on day to day issues.
However, your voting record in the Senate since 9/11/01 has been one rooted on fear, belief in lies, and caving in to pressure. You have not been supporting the people. Your vote for the Patriot Act was an abomination. It stripped Americans of their rights and freedoms. I know you voted without even reading the bill. This was totally irresponsible as the citizens now have to live with your choice.
You have recently spoken about voting with your constituents on the 'bailout' bill. This is a blatant lie!! Your constituents have spoken loud and clear that they are against rewarding those who have broken both legal and moral laws to become rich. The American citizens are against congress intervening in the financial market. This is unconstitutional!! The market will right itself if our government will stop interferring.
Have you researched the 'mark to market' system of accounting? If this were stopped much of the present "crisis" would be averted. And who said there was a "crisis". Exactly what is the "crisis"? Are you relying on Paulson to determine what the market needs? He is up to his eyeballs in benefitting from this bill. Have you consulted with expert economists outside of the political field? About 200 economists contacted congress as to why this bill was a disaster. Did you read what they wrote? Did you discuss this with them? Have you talked to your resident expert economist, Ron Paul?
I know you are not up for reelection for a few years. However, our memories are long, Senator.
I strongly urge you to begin working FOR the average American citizen beyond the local level. You may have a chance to erradicate your record of supporting an end to the Constitution in your Congressional votes before the next election.
Sincerely,
Nice Job!
.
I wonder if she lost someone on 9/11
It is something to be sensitive to, since you can't change someone who may be in the grip of an irrational emotion until you deal with it.

No power no honey
She should be sodomized with an american flag strapped to a f***ing machine in front of the white house :)
Right now your blog is simply information. But in less than 5 minutes you can convert it to power with a tool called "action trigger" which allows people to organize and take action simultaneously only if a good number of people agree. I make no money with this
Check it out and mail me directly to tell me how I can improve it.

I would recommend getting
I would recommend getting all these quotes from her and some video if possible so that attack ads can be aired against her come voting time. Let her constituents know how just how well she's "representing" them and cares about their opinion.
I hereby offer to do the voiceover and any related copywriting at no charge should someone in MD decide to pursue this. If not for TV, then go viral with it on Youtube.

I am very proud of Debbie Stabenow and very pissed off at Carl Levin
Rep. Sherman (D-CA) YOU TOO!
"Just because your constituents are against this bill, that does not mean you should vote no to this bill."
She never had my vote
But I'll triple my efforts to see that she never gets re-elected again!
It's the same here, I have
It's the same here, I have sent many letters to her, but she only represents the liberals. Thank God Bartlett voted against it. Did you listen to talk radio today, no one was for this bailout. So if she says she was listening to her constituents she is lying. I personally can not figure out how so many democrats keep giving Bush these blank checks, that are rushed through with no review. All I can say is that I always vote for the opponent against her.
Mikulski and the Vote
This is my first post at DP - so, hello to all you true Patriots!!!
I have been increasingly disgruntled with Sen. Mikulski. It began when she voted for the Patriot Act. I wrote to her three times asking if she had read the bill, which obviously affected our rights, before voting. She, or her office, responded three times never answering the question.
I wrote to her when the Immigration Bill came up. Her response was that she wanted to protect the fishermen in Annapolis and would support the bill. (Parts of MD have terrible illegal immigration issues and she is totally disconnected from the real world).
Today I wrote telling her that 258 representatives in the House remembered their oath of office to uphold the Constitution and represent their constituents and expected her to do the same. I reminded her that she worked FOR us. No response yet.
I also called Cardin and was told he was busy studying the new bill. I suggested he save his time and just vote NO.
The problem with Mikulski is that she was just re-elected and the only one running against her was a total flake. So... there is no way threatening her with the loss of a job has no effect.

Hi!! glad to have you on the daily paul team!! we are going to work together in many way's to make sure these theives are booted out,we will need all the help we can get.
mikulski/cardin
I got through to Mikulskis office, and spoke to a dis interested staffer. I registered my opposition to the bailout, and all she had to say was "thank you". I tried calling Cardins office a couple of times, and either it just rang, or the line was busy. I had emailed them both already. Of course, my congressman Chris Van Hollen voted for the bailout anyway. Scumbags all. If the representatives are getting total opposition to bailing out the banksters, and they vote for it anyway, is that not taxation wothout representation?
No Answers:
on their phones, but I have sent them emails and letters. I am not pleased with her. My last email was mild compared to some I have sent. This was the last one.

I just want to send a note to say that people are awake and watching how you vote on this very important issue of bailing out the criminals that have gotten us in to this economical mess in the first place. I sincerely hope you have the good sense to vote NO. You seem to forget that you don't work for the president, or the corporations that have stolen from us all, (or maybe you do) But you are suppose to be working for the people of the state that you are elected to represent.
While we watch this, there are also many other things that have been slipped in under the radar of the masses and I can only dream that you would educate yourself enough to stick to the constitution and do what we have entrusted you to do properly. While many may find themselves in some peril for their jobs for a short time, the markets will fall back in to place where they belong on their own. Consider your vote carefully. No one likes being out of work
