Financial Community Supports Ron Paul
Have you noticed? Ron Paul is picking up a LOT of support within the financial community. So far, these are the names of very prominent investment advisers who have announced their support for Ron Paul:
Axel Merk (Merk Hard Currency Fund), Harry Schultz (Harry Schultz Letter), Jim Rogers, (Jim Rogers.com), Richard Russell (Dow Theory Letters), and Peter Schiff (Euro Pacific Capital).
Not to mention the Chicago pit traders who were cheering for Ron Paul when he went head to head with Bernanke! Also, I was down at a local silver / gold shop in Boston the other day and I handed the guy behind the counter a bill stamped with Ron Paul 2008 on it. Of course he knew about Ron Paul because of his honest money stance, and was a big supporter.
Below are some brief excerpts and links to their full statements, where available. If you know of any others that I've missed - please post them in the comments section. I'd like to put together a very comprehensive list.
Axel Merk - 4/27/2007
Merk Hard Currency Fund
It is not our role to endorse a presidential candidate, especially not this early in the process. We don't agree with all of his views, but highly respect his no-nonsense approach to fiscal and monetary policy issues. We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the fiscal views of Congressman Ron Paul. He is living proof that it is possible to be a fiscally conservative politician with integrity.

Harry Schultz: HSL 662, 30 September 2007, page 6:
Ron Paul (for US presideing) is obviously the only election chance for upgrading the US govt. All others are just reruns of wrong principles & policies. If U want to help the cause of freedom with $'s go to: https://www.ronpaul2008.c....

Richard Russell: Russell's Remarks, November 6, 2007
The current issue of Time magazine surprised me. The issue had a two page report on libertarian, Dr. Ron Paul, the Texas Congressman, who is running for President. Ron believes in the US Constitution. Ron would like to shut down the Federal Reserve and go back to the gold standard. I gather Ron would end the war in Iraq -- further, he would close down all our 120 military bases that are spread across the face of the globe. Ron would legalize narcotics and thereby end our expensive and idiotic "war on drugs."
I guess, to make it short, Ron would pretty much get the government out of our hair, and return it to its original Constitutional form. I'm all for that. Furthermore, I'd mandate that every US Congressman and Senator be fully conversant with the US Constitution. I'd mandate that each and every one of them take an intensive course in Constitutional law. What they'd learn would probably shock them, but they'd get over it.
I'll vote for Ron Paul in the coming election. He's not going to win, but I just can't see myself voting for one of the other candidates. "Why are they running?" I ask. "Do they stand for anything different? Do they question where this nation is heading? Do they ask how this nation is going to continue living on borrowed money? Do they ask why the Federal Reserve was never subject to a Constitutional Amendment?"

Peter Schiff endorses Ron Paul: November 7, 2007
I recently had the pleasure of personally handing the Honorable Ron Paul (the only member of Congress truly worthy of that title) a $2,300 check (the legal maximum) as my contribution toward his presidential campaign. I have never given one dime to a politician (though Congressman Paul is more of a statesman than a politician) in my life, and you know what; it felt great. It was the best $2,300 I ever spent. The purpose of this email is to urge every single one of my clients, every subscriber to my newsletter, and every one in my database, to make a similar contribution.

Save the economy by decalring way on spending -#1 campaign theme
The economy and spending are the true main campaign themes. Listen to Paul on the war, on healthcare, on immigration, on taxes, on almost anything and the underlying theme is economics.
The other candidates cannot touch him on this.
People relate when it hits their wallets
His voting record is immaculate
MSM is already talking about this - look at the beck utube video. Dobbs...

Richard Daughty, the Mogambo Guru, wrote on November 8, "Ron Paul, hopefully the next President of the United States because he is the only guy running for the office who comprehends economics and the actual meaning of the Constitution as written..."

Add Ken Gerbino and Co to the list of supporters
Ken Gerbino wrote an appeal to his contacts asking them to look at Ron Paul. One he wrote to was Bob Moriarty who owns 321gold.com. With permission the letter was published by Bob.
"Ron Paul can win this election. He is the only candidate that is not robotically saying the same old thing. He has raised a huge campaign war chest and is shocking the establishment media.
If you ever said to yourself that you are sort of conservative on some issues and sort of liberal on some other issues then you are someone who believes in the tradition of the great classical liberal movement which made the world a better place in the 18th and 19th century."

Harry Browne
Although he passed away in March 1 1/2 years ago, if he was alive today, Harry Browne would staunchly support Ron Paul. His wife does.
Richard Maybury too!
Maybury encouraged his subscribers (Early Warning Report) to support Ron Paul in his October issue. http://www.chaostan.com/
Doug Casey
Doug Casey has voiced his support for Ron Paul, not only for his economic sense, but for his approach to foreign and domestic policy as well.

Why the Financial Community Supports RP
The financial community supports Ron Paul and should support Ron Paul because of his ideas on the economy and monetary theory.
Quite simply, free market economics, liberty, and sound money (gold and silver = money) in the traditions of the Austrian school, is the only body of thought upon which a free society can survive and flourish. Communism, Fascism, Socialism, they are all the same thing in the end, just big government squandering wealth and impoverishing the citizenry, and all such schemes end similarly, with mass poverty and chaos. The US is best described today as socialist with a heavy dose of fascism. Obviously Ron Paul would change all that.
These people mentioned here who, like myself, have spent their lives in the intimate study of economics and the financial markets understand this on a visceral level. If Ron Paul is elected president, it will be his economic ideas that will have the greatest beneficial impact on our country. These ideas are his greatest asset, even though to most people they are the hardest to understand. Without sound money, genuinely free markets and genuine liberty, our society is doomed to failure. Period. And there will be a day of reckoning where the economy collapses because the money isn't sound. This will happen regardless of who we elect to the White House, however if Ron Paul is elected, America will be back on its feet again in a few years rather than decades or never.
It doesn't matter to me whether you vote for Ron Paul because you understand everything he says or simply because he wants to bring the troops home or whatever. Just vote for him. However if you wish to know more about the basis of Ron Paul's economic ideas you can go visit the Mises Institute website and read some of their literature and buy books.
I have used these ideas to increase my personal fortune considerably over the years, so it is also of practical, not just academic benefit.
Ron Paul is 73 years old and he will not live forever, but his ideas will with your help. To the extent that they match with our Founders', they are what made America the greatest and most prosperous nation the world has ever seen since the days of the Roman Empire.
We can do it again.. Vote Ron Paul '08
Brilliant Media Tactic
Dave Gonigan just posted a brilliant media tactic on the blog for The Daily Reckoning. I figured folks interested in this post would love to check it out.
I also posted it as a topic on the Daily Paul if you want to discuss it more. Can we get the good doctor's staff to really try implementing this? How?
Your shiny yellow friend,
SoundMoneyMan
This is excellent work! Very useful for the door to door!
Can we get this stuff out to the meetups? This adds a ton of credibility to the good Dr.
Mike
Ron Paul is my HERO!!!
Don't forget Jason Hommel
Enough said!

Catherine Austin Fitts
Catherine Austin Fitts posted a large graphic on her blog earlier this week promoting the money bomb. She has yet to write about him, but it was encouraging to see.

He's Quite Popular at Agora
Anyone associated with Agora Publishing and The Daily Reckoning is going to be a strong supporter of Dr. Paul. I can't find specifics for you now, but head to these sites and do some searches and you'll probably find some great stuff quickly. They have excellent archives.
Bill Bonner at The Daily Reckoning

Dr. Paul actually used to be a contributer to this fine daily publication.

They have many more writers, but that's a good list to start with.
And check out this letter the fellows at Agora wrote to each and every member of congress when they published their book, Empire of Debt.

Note the bolded paragraph. Haha... we're already at $9 trillion and it's still 2007.
Your shiny yellow pal,
SoundMoneyMan
Another to add to the list...
An amazing stock picker and invester named Richard Mayberry (I think that's right) from the website Chaostan.com is a big supporter of Ron Paul... I have been following his newsletter for a long time...
Add Porter Stansberry
I get his 12% Letter and a few others....this was November 5th ;-)
1st paragraph, a commenter, 2nd, his response:
"You have pumped Ron Paul as a good man, which I whole-heartedly agree, but have you put your money where your mouth is? Many of the people in your office probably have the funds to really give this guy a boost. How about hosting a fundraiser in your 'castle' and inviting your wealthiest subscribers. One or two well-heeled subscribers could finance his whole campaign, just so they don't expect anything but freedom in return. Integrity should count and supporting his campaign will let the world know that it does. Today is his 'money bomb' day… you should post a link to his website." – Paid-up subscriber Michael T. Stevinson
Porter comment: Like I said the last time I was asked about endorsing Ron Paul, I try to stay out of politics in public. I don't want to encourage them or embarrass myself. Whether Ron Paul would be a good president or a bad president, I can't say.
I can tell you that Ron Paul is the only honest politician in Washington... and that should count for something. That's why I've given his campaign the maximum legal amount – $2,300. Anyone who wants to can do the same http://www.ronpaul2008.co....

Financial commuinty?
You might want to change the headline. Ron Paul is the financial community's worst nightmare. Bailouts will face the wrath of President Paul's veto pen. Through Treasury Department appointments, he might even be able to do something about the Fed's interest rate manipulations. The people who are supporting Ron Paul are enlightened financial advisers. Big difference.
"financial community"
I would say the other ones you speak of are more "advantage seekers" than true financial people. Advantage seekers should be told to get a real job and quit looking for government hand outs.
Seekers Terminology ;-)
There are two terms quite helpful in describing those "seekers":
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...
;-)
Fortunately, the real honest financial community seems to support Dr. Ron Paul :-)
Add Bill Fleckenstein
Who in his (subscriber) Ask Fleck said he never before contributed to a politician.
To quote...
The 11/7/9 Ask Fleck quote:
(question) I know this is not a political forum, but how 'bout that Ron Paul?!? He raised $4.2 million yesterday. Fleck readers who haven't yet, google Ron Paul.
(Fleck) • I contibuted to his campaign yesterday, the first time I have ever given money to a politician. Paul is the only chance we have to get on the right path.
And Mike Shedlock
http://globaleconomicanal...
And I quote (at the end of the above link):
It's time to eliminate the price fixers in this world along with the IRS and dozens of useless government agencies. There is only one way to do that and that is to vote for Ron Paul.
Yes
Anyone with serious investment sense, with deep-rooted knowledge and wisdom in terms of financial principles, with general understanding of due diligence and personal responsibility, these people are MUCH more likely to support Ron Paul. This is how I became aware of him. I plan on one day being in a similar class as the above-mentioned investors (I'm only 25 right now, but working and striving hard). In terms of financial awareness, Ron Paul trumps the other candidates.

Before Rudy formally
Before Rudy formally announced he was running, he was able to test the waters on a nationwide motivational speaking circuit, which also included Steve Forbes, so that probably formed the basis for their alliance.
I forget how long ago it was, but my friend and I went to see them speak in Greenville, SC. One of the other speakers was Zig Ziglar.
