Do you want the Christians' donations?? Stop making the big donation days on Sunday

While I understand the desire to match the days in history, it is not good to make these big donation days on Sunday. This will prevent a lot of donating by many Christians. My wife and I would have both donated on the next big donation days but they are on Sunday so we will not. I know many others would not donate on Sunday.

I will repeat, there needs to be a lot more work done for the Christian community to get their attention to Ron Paul. I am doing what I can. While I am not a complainer, I think we need to plan some of these things out better. Why not make it just December 15th? Please let me know if the 15th is still on for a massive donation day. Bill of rights day is much less agressive sounding right? See how the media spun Nov 5th? I think this may have been a reason Ron Paul did not focus much on it before the 5th as he has to distance himself from things that can be spun like they were. Notice he was free in responding by saying that he did not plan it. Let's think about this people. December 15th sounds better, and it is one day earlier.

Logic and reason are what

Logic and reason are what attract many to Ron Paul. Not making a few clicks on your computer to donate to the most important of causes (a cause that could even be considered very Christian) simply because the 16th falls on a Sunday is completely devoid of any logic or reason. Hence, you will find little sympathy for these stubborn (and in my opinion selfish) people who won't include themselves in this historical fundraising event.

I think you do the "Christian community" a disservice by painting them thoughtless and self-serving. I disagree that any significant number of people will refuse to donate on this day to uphold some obviously irrelevant (as it relates to Ron Paul) belief.

The date is set and immobile.

You people are not listening

There is a real danger of people just getting emotional and missing the points. Just calm down people. I did not come here to debate the issue of the Lord's day verses the Sabbath as I didn't present any arguments. Here is a well written HISTORICALLY AMERICAN position for you to read if you wish, as evidently that is what you all want to know:
http://truthinheart.com/E...

Many of the blogs on this forum bring out some good argumentation, encouragement and wisdom. But some of this is just evident that people do not even read what they respond to.

Now I will enlarge a little more so you understand me. I publish early American classics on philosophy, theology, religion, etc., like the one above by Finney. For all of you who are voting for Ron Paul to bring back the Constitution, you should also be aware that for most of the history of this great country, the majority of the people have believed in the Lord's day as a day of rest. I even have an old extensive book on the history of US laws in regards to this that all of you probably have no idea were in existence.

Again, I am not here to tell anyone what to believe or do. Just to say that there are a lot of people who still believe we should rest on the first day of the week from secular work that is not of necessity. This is the historic American tradition folks. Many still believe it. That was my only point. So I said it was not wisdom to make it that day to so exclude these people holding the classic American view when we are trying to win them and have not done enough to reach this camp.

Anyway, I wrote Trevor and he responded very kindly to me. He respects my point without being all emotional and diverting and even attacking as many of you are. He wrote me: "I really do appreciate your position but this has already taken on a life of it's own. I truly cannot stop it. People have made graphics for it, are promoting it and more. Perhaps we can ask Christians who do not want to donate on Sunday to go ahead and donate on Saturday instead..." So evidently the originator of these big donation days did not take offence and get all upset about the comment so I urge the bloggers on this forum to be a little more patient and kindly. There is a sense developing here of rush and panic. Let people speak their minds in the tradition of Ron Paul without jumping all over them.

Hopefully this will clear this whole thing up now. Only continue to write about how we can effectively reach the evangelical camp that has so much money and influence in American politics today. I see it coming down on the Republican side to Ron Paul and Huckabee. And by the way, his wife was on NPR today and what she said about religious people NOT supporting them was very interesting. She said they didn't look at them mostly because of the little money they have. It really sounded pathetic and you got the sense that they didn't have a chance. But this all could change if they get backed by Dobson and more evangelicals. When that happens, as it is starting to, then it will probably come down to these two in the end...

self-employed and working

self-employed and working seven days a week to keep ahead(?) of the inflation tax...does that make me evil? haha, just kidding, but really, if folks can do the work needed to get to church on a Sunday, pull their wallet out and tithe--sin-free, they (YOU) can do the same later that afternoon. Real simple. Is this like the Thompson supporter who can't donate because that new game is coming out...come on!!!

My theological answer

First, to counter some of the replies, I don't think rickfriedrich would object to work on Sundays if it is work out of absolute necessity (e.g., eating). That's an exception to the Commandment illustrated by Christ himself.

So what about non-essential work? Well, I'm Catholic but mainstream Protestantism retained the Catholic theology on the issue as well. We are to rest from unnecessary servile labor. Not every muscular movement or expending of resources!

I try not to shop on Sundays because it creates demand for servile labor (delivery boys, stock boys, etc.). But I will jog, work out, read, cook, do my taxes, surf the internet, and DONATE!

The Sabbath & The bible

The actual sabbath is the "7th Day", which is Saturday. Sunday is day one.

The Ten Commandments, which is the only absolute rule in the old testament, does not forbid generosity or work or politics on the Sabbath.

Jesus protested than "Mammon" (greed) had replaced acknowledgement of God's gift of earthly paradise, and he threw the money changers out of the temple on the Sabbath, but Jesus himself worked a few food "bombs" himself on the Sabbath, notably the (John 6:11) feeding of the multitudes with fish & loaves.

Are you saying that Mike Huckabee is not taking donations on Sunday? Do you think the Rev. Pat Robertson does not exhort his duped followers to give him money on a Sunday, but somehow its unChristian for Ron Paul to accept gifts and offerings himself on Sunday?

As far as I know, the next money bomb covers two days, Dec. 15 & 16 Bill of Rights Day & Boston Tea Party, which involves the actual sabbath and the modern tradition of a Sunday sabbath.

Seventh Day Adventists (Saturday Sabbath worshippers) are Christians too.

If 50 years of being married to the same woman, who has never strayed from his God, his principles, and his devotion to Christian principles aren't enough, then let the poseur faux-Christians vote for the anti-Christ Giuliani, or war-monger McCain.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)

tithe

Hey, if 10% is good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for the government!
; )

I totally disagree we need to drop a

money bomb on Pat Robertson after his hypocritical support of the worst social issue candidate Rudy Giuliani, I would love to see it drop right on his own network and on a Sunday.

What a _________ hypocrite !!!!!!!

Special treatment for everyone?

Can't plan your finances around Sunday?

Need your hand held much?

Weekends are best to catch people when they aren't at work.....simple.

Watch out for Wednesday complaints too....aye....

i dont get it

people go to church every sunday and donate to the church on that day so why is this any different? i agree with another person who wrote the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. but anyways nothing is stopping you from donating on any other day i guess.

The Sabbath

The Sabbath is on Saturday, so, if you believe in keeping the Sabbath holy, which is what the commandment says, then give on Sunday. If you believe that the Sabbath is Sunday, or that it somehow applies to Sunday, then give on Saturday. This is a silly thread, no offense, but someone's conscience should direct them and that is a personal matter. It will have very little impact upon the "bomb" if someone gives a few hours earlier.

I see his point

Some Christians do have scruples about Sunday. Perhaps a mini-moneybomb directed at evangelcial Christians to give on say a (alas Reformation Day has passed - Oct 31!) Wednesday or some date significant to us believers.

Sandy Sanders

Confused

I thought the next money bomb was Nov 11?

TWO MONEY BOMBS PLANNED

Nov 11th is in remembrance of Veterans Day of course and December 16th?? or 15?? (wish someone would clear that one up) is the last one planned for this year and supposedly bigger than Nov 11....
I think we should start the new year out with another on January 1st....

Just a thought...

We all should be able to participate... unless you live on the east coast.

we do have time zones :)

Christian Donation

I write my check every week to donate to the church and no one there objects. The Bible tells me that God made the Sabbath for man, not man for the Sabbath. This pledge does not offend me, but if it offends you I respect your right and believe to give on another day. I think that is how our candidate would feel about it. This is all about individual liberties. No condemnation just hand in hand and onward we go fo RON PAUL!!!!

I can respect your decision

I can respect your decision not to donate on Sunday. I would encourage you to donate today instead.

If the date of the grass-roots organization's donation drive does not meet with your approval, that is ok. We will understand your decision not to donate on that day.

Donate on any day of your choosing, but please, please donate. This movement is too important to skip donating because you can't be part of the "main-day" donation drive. The fact that Congressman Paul receives the funds to further his campaign is the most important part.

Our thanks go out to you and your spouse for your support of Congressman Paul. With God's blessing, he will win.

You Remind Me of a Story

I understand that the 19th Century revivalist D.L. Moody came across a Calvinist who was upset with Moody's pleas to his hearers to come to Christ, since many of them obviously had to be non-elect. Moody's reply: "Preach to everyone, and if some are saved who are not elect, God will forgive you."

By the way, the Sabbath prohibition deals with working, not giving. Even the Maccabees fought defensively on the Sabbath during their war of independence.

Surely God will forgive you for making a Sunday donation to another Christian who is trying to save his country.

I'm a Christian... no problem giving on Sunday here.

Come on folks. There is FREEDOM in Christ. So, come the 13th, we be wippin' out the ol' creditcard and giving $100.

Godspeed.

I don't get it

Rick, you still haven't said why YOU won't donate on a Sunday. This sort of thing is news to me. Anyway, it's too late, the ball is in motion. Teaparty07.com is the next money bomb on December 16th.

Please refrain from religious threads. It's a dividing subject.

Hello all. Let's please keep the sermons to a minimum. Religion is a dividing subject. This thread will end up garnering ten pages in a single day. We may all believe in a creator/god, however those creators may differ. Thanks.

The answer is YES

No one has answered the question. So... I'll take it.
The answer is yes. Any day, any time.

IT IS DONATION, NOT BUYING/SELLING!!!

I paid tithing on Sunday which is the donation to the Church. I faithly believe Ron Paul is a prophet who tells the truth that rejected by MSM, or pharises 2000 years ago.

If you object

Just donate...
Donate on Sat. or Monday it all goes to Ron Paul anyhow.
But if you can do it on the 16th of December all the better, be sure to sign up at theteaparty07 regardless of the date.

I agree

This isn't an issue to fight over...just donate the night before or the day after. We'll understand.

Mike
Ron Paul is my HERO!!!

You all miss the point

You guys are too emotional. You miss the point. A lot of people will not donate on Sundays. I am one and there are many others. I am not debating about the Sabbath and whether people should or should not donate on that day. So stop the childish attitudes. You guys are too anxious to fight. I am making a point. There are thousands of people who still believe what historically this country held to during the good old days and will not transact on Sunday. These will not donate on that day.

One person answered my question partially. Is there a place to sign up for December 15th instead of December 16th.

Again, I was very much behind November 5th for the sake of the campaign. I made a few webpages that still have the banner. I would like to get behind similar drives. But not for Sundays.

Anyway, two things we need to do. Put more efforts into the evangelical community in somehow reaching them; and be careful to temper our tone in the example of Ron Paul.

Rick

What day of the week was the first Sabbath?

No one is around to tell us. Could have been Tuesday on the current calendar for all we know.

Seems to me that not donating on a Sunday is an excuse. Even Jesus gave to others on the Sabbath...

And tyranny doesn't take Sundays off, either. Neither should freedom.

Sundays whos religion

I an animal is stuck in a hole on the sabbath do you not help it out. My day is Saturday you want it on saturday what am I to do then if I feel the same way as you. Do you realize that half the world is saturday and the other half is sunday. Do you want a war on this? NO. Just love and serve Him for there is only one man who split time in half. BC, AD. I will be one to donate on that day as well which ever day it is. Sunday is for the name of SUN GOD. So are all the other days of the week. Only the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th and 7th day is the real day. Gensis first there was darkness then there was light. So a day begins at darkness not at midnight. Food for thought.

Thanks
May GOD Bless each and everyone.
I pray that God may see that Ron Paul will not be hurt or wounded, that he may become our next full two term President of the united States of America!
Tim

Thank you Tim. I agree.

Thank you Tim. I agree.

"is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath?

Sunday is not the Sabbath. Paul taught us that Christ became our Sabbath. Have you not been taught? Have you not heard? Did not Christ ask "is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath? Where then are you coming from?

The media will spin no matter what and a sheep is a sheep who believes their spin no matter what it is derived from. If we did this on the 15th the MSM would spend their time asking Dr. Paul if this was a conscious decision not to repeat the mistake of November 5th etc. etc. They can always spin to the negative as long as there are mindless people to watch them.

The wheels are in motion. We must be united and make it happen. Do some good on that Sunday and donate. And while you are donating praise Christ He is abiding with us every day as we Sabbath (rest) in Him.

Stupid posts

Some of the posts are getting idiotic. This is a great example.

NO!

The ball is in motion. I'm starting to get a little tired of people trying to cause friction. THE DAY IS DECEMBER 16. We have to have solidarity and keep to the day. NO MORE DISCUSSION. I too am a christian. I have given money to my church on Sunday, as that is the day that the church passes the bowls. I also believe with all my heart that giving to Ron Paul is the closest thing to giving directly to the word of God. He is the only righteous man running. Now, giving to Hillary or Rudy on a Sunday would be a sin as I believe their positions to be an affront to God's message. Giving money to a man who will directly lead to less lives lost, less misery, less tyranny, more freedom... THAT IS GIVING IN THE NAME OF GOD. How dare you cause friction here. Be gone with you.

Sorry, I was just a little

Sorry, I was just a little angry. It appears that there are people posting comments just to hurt the campaign. If you were really sincere in your concern, I apologize.

Sunday donations?

I really don't understand what your objection is. I'm a Christian(very involved and educated) and I don't see a reason. The only possible objection I can see would be from a strict, practicing Jew---with the prohibition on buying and selling. But that would refer to the Sabbath, ie Saturday. I'm also not sure that a "donation" would properly be considered buying/selling although it is a financial transaction---but so is giving a blind beggar a dollar. I really don't understand.

Anyway, I understood that the next big fundraiser was a 2-day event. The 15th for the Bill of Rights/Constitution and the 16th for the Tea Party. So in this way we would avoid religious objections from both traditional Christians and Seventh Day Adventists and Jews.

As I Christian I can't

As I Christian I can't possibly think of a reason why someone would not be able to vote on a Sunday. Do you really think that this would be violating the Sabbath? From what Scriptures would you derive this from?
