I disagree vehemently with the characterization here, that this film is a "steaming pile of NWO propaganda." I just finished watching the entire film. The author of the referenced thread says that "true capitalism and free trade were thus demonized" in the film.
Nothing could be further from the truth. It is true that the current system of globalization, corporatism and "capitalism" as it is practiced today is demonized, but it is made clear at the beginning of this film that all of this takes place within the context of the current phony Fed / banking system regime. What is ultimately being criticized is the phony monetary system within which all of this takes place. This is what the critics of the film miss completely!
I have some minor disagreements with the film, but overall it is pure genius!. It is an excellent analysis of the times we live in. Some key points:
America is built for fascism. One quote from the film: "The minute you punch that timeclock, you walk into a dictatorship." Has anyone else noticed that you have no rights at work?

Another quote from the film: "In spite of the fact that society is emergent, always growing, society, business and government want to stay 'established.' This keeps in place outdated social structures, thinking and institutions." Sound familiar?

A final quote from the film: "Excessive competition due to the current monetary system leads to corruption and dictatorship." This single sentence sums up our current "credit crisis." We had excessive, unregulated competition -- within the context of the Fed banking system -- which was rife with fraud and corruption, and led to the point of systemic collapse. The Federal Government had to come in and attempt to bail out the failed system. Of course the bailout will fail. They're trying to prop something up that is fundamentally unsustainable, because they 1) fear change and 2) fear losing their cash cow. This has already led to fascism, and could very well lead to dictatorship.
It is late, but I will be happy to debate the ideas brought up in this film with anyone in the coming days.
Technology has changed things fundamentally. Ron Paul's candidacy is a case in point that people do not need to be motivated by profit. Everyone who contributed did not do so from the standpoint of the profit motive. Dr. Paul himself, when he made the switch to being a Congressman, could have stayed a doctor, grew his practice, and retired to the golf course young. He's not doing what he's doing for money!
The Daily Paul is another example. This site is not profitable from the traditional monetary reward sense for time spent. The site makes some money, but it takes a lot of my time. I could make much more money if I spent all the time I spend here working on "real," profit making projects. But I find this site more real, and enjoyable than meaningless work that pulls in more FRN's.
These are two examples of what humans do when they approach life from the perspective of abundance, not of scarcity.
Furthermore, the site is run on opensource software that was free to download, and free to run. Five years ago, software like this would have cost $100,000. Today it is free. This, in and of itself is revolutionary, and doesn't fit into existing profit models.
Something new is emerging. Some see it, others don't.
This film captures that emerging Zeitgeist, if we choose it.

I think the creator has allot to be proud of... hopefully people take some time to think about these ideas before they pass judgement... as for science fiction ...just having the Constitution we had in 1787 is science fiction today...

I agree. Only an establishment apologist would deny the conclusions of this video and slander it as "NWO propaganda."
I'm a transhumanist libertarian. That means I believe in freedom aided by technology, not a regression to 1776. I love the spirit of the American ideal, but times have changed. I see this video as the natural extension of future libertarian thought. Economic issues are secondary to liberty. Economics is a means to liberty, not an end in and of itself. If economics can be dispensed with, then it should be. That's one less dimension of needless complexity.
Who would argue against developing technologies that would free us from work and provide abundance for all, merely to hold on to an economic model? It may be the best model of the bunch, but it ultimately suffers from the same inherent flaws as any other model.
We are still trading seashells for arrowheads. We should move beyond that crude behavior.
The means are at hand.
My big problem with the end of the movie
was the loss of freedom that the production of that lifestyle requires. Who maintains it all? What if you don't feel like working on machines? Or living in a high-tech world? It seems too structured and controlling. I can see how people living in highly populated areas would think of this as a good thing, but from those of us in the sticks; you can have it.

Forgetting the ridiculous sci-fi utopia in this video, things like open source software are a means to INCREASE competition, not decrease them.
It's sort of like giving your opponent a lead because the excitement of a race will draw more crowds and you're investing in the show itself. Yes there is cooperation and competition, but it is all for the overall sport of business and economic growth.
A world without competition would be boring, stagnating and ultimately fruitless. Anyone who has spent a significant time working towards anything of value will tell you this.

I enjoyed the first 50 or so minutes on the monetary system and some of the last half.
The part I didn't like on the monetary system is the fact that first they do a good job of explaining how the monetary system has a fractional reserve system and interest which causes it to be a corrupt, debt based system and then they show the segment with RP and make the point that an honest politician who actually understands and could fix what's wrong with the monetary system would never be allowed to get in any position of real power (which is exactly what happened to RP) and so the money system "will never get fixed" and so they promote the idea that we the people should not participate in the political process.
In other words we should abdicate our responsibilities as citizens of the republic and not participate in the political process and not persist until we find a way to regain the people's rightful control of the political system and to me that is just plain wrong.
RP's successful press conference getting the four major third parties to agree on the four most important issues facing America and urging citizens to vote for one of the third party candidates is one way to participate. And there will be other ways that we will come up with to achieve our political goals.
And, interestingly enough, by us doing this it aligns with the movie's viewpoint on "emergence"- changing society's thinking re: "the two party system is good" and "third parties can't win", etc.
In fact this step of taking back control of the government is probably necessary before society can get rid of the political barriers (patents on alternate energy tech purchased by the fossil fuel folks, etc.) that prevent the utilization of a lot of the technology the movie is talking about.
Also, I did like some ideas in the last half of the movie but some I didn't.
Anyway this is my thinking on it.

Exploring our interior world. A common suggestion found in all faiths. The external tools we use to worship have created a divide. Turn inward and celebrate your God that way. That is what they suggested. Again, a common suggestion given by many, many great religious leaders. This includes Jesus. The film never suggested getting rid of "religion".
The film tells us to drop
The film tells us to drop the way we currently worship "God", and tells us that we all need to focus on some "Universal oneness".
I'm not a religious person, but I know New Age propaganda when I see it.

(A weakness of the movie was how much time they spent interviewing the wrinkled hippy and his stoned girlfriend from the Venus Project in social engineering.)

on religion are probably true, but that does not mean that they should force their beliefs on everyone else by eradicating religion. The people who did the movie are obviously on a higher level of thinking and understanding. But I would say they are wrong if they say that wisdom cannot be found in Ancient religious texts. All I have to do is pick up the Bible and I can relate what it says to our times. So I don't think we should do away with religion, but at the same time I am not going to brainwash my kid to adhere to a certain religion.

it never, never attacks Christians. It attacks IDOL WORSHIP. I am a Christian that has had enough of the BS in the church. This nonsense is what will destroy Christianity. Not some secret society. Ignorance and violence. Christians must guard against a threat that is growing within their communities and they MUST NOT BE USED to prevent change.

Religion is dogma created to enslave rather than liberate. The only true structure is the one we build with our own experience. No one religion could ever encompass the varying degrees of experience every human has on this earth. Spirituality, acknowledging we are one in many and that our entire universe is connected to us in some way is a non divisive way of communing with truth. The truth? We're all the creator's children and no one "religion" can confine our sprituality.
This film never advocates anything other than searching for the truth and discarding old archetypes. Religion, money, oligarchies that could be the old way if we just take out the incentive to chisel each other.

Homo Sapiens have been around for at least 160,000 years according to fossil evidence. Recorded "History" has been around maybe 5,000 years-but alot of history was removed, reworked and reshaped to fit a system that worked for leaders of the society. We have to come to grips with this cliche that is very true:
History is written by the winners.
You have to investigate tirelessly to come to some true interpretation of actual ancient events.
Ancient homo sapiens (and other homo species like Neanderthal and possibly others like florensis) searched for meaning in their life. They recorded dates and times according to astronomical symbols and gave some framework for understanding the universe. Leaders hid this knowledge and "predicted" things to give themselves power over their people. This knowledge is still being suppressed, but it now extends to the wonderful marvels of the electrical age.

I totally agree with your post
I own my own business and I wake up every morning not worried about where the money is going to come from, but why am I spending my time chasing money? It's become apparent to me that making money is easy-getting people to support your idea is difficult. It's like you have to make the idea real before people can support it, which is near impossible for someone always chasing money.
Thanks michael for making the daily paul a real idea without pursuing profit. That is the model of the next revolution. When people realize this I'm sure the mass awakening will occur. Until then we'll be stuck slaves to the most dishonest amongst us.

Thus, I have stopped reading these posts and will watch the movie a couple times to form my own opinions.
Then, I will judge whether it is condusive to the Revolution.

This movie is fantasy. Nothing more. I'll stick with establishing a true Free Market Capitalism. This movie throws a giant wedge in the freedom movement. Entertaining... but pure fantasy.

Who's going to decide what the robots create? The robots? Are they going produce a skateboard because I want them to? Do I have to get permission from someone else first? Who's to decide when things don't work? Soooo many more questions... I don't feel like asking them all. Too much collectivism and not enough individuality involved with this system. The biggest flaw in the movie is the idea that people have the potential to all be the same. Yuk!
Let's just end the Fed and see what happens going forward.
If we had REAL MONEY... (The Real money is resources and labor. You know, the money our good doctor advocates.) The Free market will allow us to fairly trade our goods and services. No manipulation and no excess. Only what exists.
We're better off just watching Freedom to Fascism.
I also liked the video Esoteric Agenda better. I think it was made by the Zeitgeist people. Addendum is just too out there for me.
