The Wall Street Journal just called me for an interview about Ron Paul
Okay, everyone. I don't know how many other people are getting called, but I just got a call from the Wall Street Journal for interview on an article they are doing about Ron Paul. I was very polite, grateful, and appreciative to the journalist. I explained all of Ron Paul's positions to her. The journalist said she found me on this website. Anyone who has any questions about what I said can write me here. It was a 47 minute phone interview.

THIS GUY posted the same thing several weeks ago. He is a troll.
Not a troll.
No, I posted the WSJ article below. I wanted supporters to be aware of how media interests will spin and edit our interviews, how ever carefully handled.
OK OK
WSJ owned by News Corp, Murdoch (Fox News). Not surprised they printed a smear piece.
i work with him...
on massive ron paul projects. what do you do for ron paul?
sorry
But reading back through the comments I remember why I am leery. Don't pick a fight with me with what I have done for RP lately, Janet Jackson.
If I'm way off here, just ignore me. Maybe I'm wrong.
: )
that was a good one. janet jackson. ha! i wish I knew her songs well enough for a clever retort....
Hey Duff-Man... cool it!
LOOK at the date on the post you are replying to; See where it says "On November 10th" THIS IS THE POST from several weeks ago.
You are just seeing it again because someone added a new "reply" underneath it somewhere.
So the author of the original post in NOT a troll; it is YOU who are not paying attention and are disrupting things.
strange tho
It just seems strange they'd call someone who was a member for only 2 wks?? Ron Paul for President!!
Why the hell are they
Why the hell are they calling us?
When in the entire history of the United States has the press been more interested in a canidates "supporters" than the candidate themselves?
Remember those of you that are truthers, keep your stories about chem trails, Jewish bankers, and mind control to yourself.. if you don't trust the government story on 9/11 just say that and leave the weird stuff to Alex Jones. The press wants to pidginhole RP supporters as nut cases, so they can build a straw man against RP, don't let them do it.
"taco john" interview in Nov 4. WSJ page A4
Somewhat less than flattering...
"Paul's Supporters Clash With Media"
http://online.wsj.com/pub...
This is one reason why we might restrain ourselves when approached by MSM... they will spin our commentary however they wish, in order to make *their* points, not ours.
typo in date
The article was printed on the 24th, not the 4th as I incorrectly stated in the post title.
what's really unflattering
is the commentary you'll see by reading below as RP 2008 was excoriated by the people on this forum. UCJB, hope you sent an apology.

Some overreaction here?
Getting called by a Wall Street Journal reporter and asked about Ron Paul would be a dream come true for me, and probably help the campaign. I certainly wouldn't say anything harmful, and I doubt RP 2008 would either based on a sampling of his posts that I just read. What's all the fuss about?
The Wall Street Journal is respected national MSM read by a lot of Republicans. Isn't Dr. Paul a Republican, running in Republican primaries? Doesn't he need Republican votes? Isn't one of our chief complaints that he's been ignored by MSM? Aren't we staunch First Amendment advocates?
So now, when MSM calls someone among us, some here want a supporter to say "I'm sorry, but I've been instructed by the national campaign not to comment"? Puh-LEEZE -- that sounds like something from a newspaper in pre-WWII Nazi Germany. And it likely would be published, which could harm the campaign.
Who is claiming that supporters should not comment to media? If it's someone with the national campaign, offer a name and I'll call to confirm. If it's just an idea from someone here, I respectfully suggest that it can backfire big time.
It seems suspicious.
The mainstream media is dead.
I won't say what I think, but I will say...
Why would someone put their personal information online?

because
Because I want to accept responsibility and be held accountable for what I say...
RP 2008
You can say what you like, that doesn't concern me really, in honor of the Constitution and Dr. Paul's message. The web site is really for Ron Paul supporters and it is private. Please be respectful and we can get along fine. If you object to his message then tell us what it is you disagree with.

Maybe he really did give a
Maybe he really did give a good interview. Perhaps he was picked by this lady because she thought he would be a good example of one of the Ron Paul crazies that we always hear about in the media. - No offense 2008, but your posts are kinda hostile. - But then instead, 2008 turned out to be really civil and courteous, and nothing at all like she thought a Ron Paul crazy would be like.
"You don't gain much by being angry. I see this more as an intellectual, philosophical fight than a political, personality fight." - Ron Paul
I'm sorry if this is too
I'm sorry if this is too blunt, but he was picked by the damn reporter because he had his damn phone number listed. How is that not obvious? It has nothing to do with the content of his posts.
Easy
It makes sense, less work for the reporter...
I am sure everyone here is aware of how to get your message out to the media-
Press releases etc....
It's because they are LAZY
SO...
A phone # already in an email means an easy interview...
Could be as harmless as this!
alot of talk on Constitutional law
I gave her alot of talk on Constitutional law and she told me she also checked out my Myspace page which I guess is bad b/c some dude down there wrote I had alot of whorish women on it. Anyway, if that interview goes bad it is b/c someone got to it and spun it. I am telling you I explained everything politely, courteously, and evenhandedly. I just gave her the straight up truth and facts about Ron Paul, and believe me I know a hell of alot about Ron Paul's positions. Basically, the positions listed on my myspace.

She wanted to know what I believed and I told her. I was honest.
You guys decide, I'm done with him

There are a lot of whorishly dressed women on yourspace, but I guess thats pretty common on myspace, hopefully that doesnt count against you.

Maybe Google
I googled "GOP Dec 4th debate" this morning and the first and second links were from dailypaul. This is why we have to be careful of not responding to posts about Ron Paul that are negative. One of the posts was only 1 or two days old. Just thought you should know.
someone should try to
someone should try to contact the WSJ reporter and offer an alternate interview.
call the wsj
i'm not gonna give it out yet because i don't want people to spam her like a million times you can prolly call the wsj tho

Two important things...
1. Youtube is likely locking the view counts on Ron Paul videos and neglecting to post new ones. A lot of people think this may be the case. Since Nov 5th the numbers have only crawled up even though google searches have almost doubled.
I am not sure, but we should spread this around in the forums and discuss it. Let people know that it is possible.
2.UFO's on CNN. This could be a long shot manuever to increase Dennis Kuccinich's credibility and divide Ron Paul's support.
I am not sure, but we should always discuss this stuff and keep on our toes.
Let's not be fooled by dirty tricks. Stay the course, we are winning.
you're a big U F O guy huh?
what a ridiculous comment!
you have many posts about that nonsense.
Let's worry about earth, specifically this country and how we can make it better by getting Ron Paul elected.
I meant that UFO's are B.S.
The mainstream media is losing their grip on the people. It is a beautiful thing to watch.
The mainstream media is dead.
On another note!! This only
On another note!! This only points out yet again, that yes the press does come to this site, and does read these forums. So this is another reason to be really careful about what you post. Meaning people talking about crop circles, laziness, and other assorted garbage that doesnt need to be posted here, and only makes us look like morons.

Yep, this is big league. but RP 2008 is a kid

Reporters
Only speak to reporters who are referred by the campaign.
Sure it was the WSJ?!
Very bizarre. Do you know this reporter? Who was it?
Next time, politely refer them to the official site. Nothing good can come from the establishment press interviewing 'random' Ron Paul supporters for nearly an hour...
If they use it, it'll be interesting to see how they selectively spin your interview-- which, I'm sure, they recorded and you didn't.
Ridiculous
Some of you need to stop stepping up like you're some kind of organizer directing the troops.
My meetup group recently ran a booth at a gun show. A Huffington Post reporter came up and asked us questions. We answered enthusiastically.
There was also a Romney booth. They answered like some of you here are advocating.
See how the interviews came off:
>>>>
The Ron Paul encampment - four or five volunteers who collectively formed the gun show's only semblance of diversity - was remarkably efficient given its limited means. What looked like handmade brochures and a hastily-constructed banner proclaimed Paul's pro-gun credentials, and the volunteers were eager to talk, excited and even zealous about their candidate. They noted that Paul has a "perfect voting record on supporting the 2nd Amendment." Indeed, Ron Paul has been called "a leader in the fight to defend and restore the Second Amendment" by Larry Pratt, executive director of the Gun Owners of America (GOA). Paul himself has stated on his website that some of his Republican opponents' views on gun control are "more in line with Teddy Kennedy than our Founding Fathers."
In a telling moment, an older man wearing Fred Thompson paraphernalia approached the Ron Paul table, picked up some fliers and spoke with the enemy at length about the Texas congressman's credentials - and Thompson's frustrating inaction.
"I hate to say it," the Thompson supporter confided, "but I'm here in support of the silent man. He's not really saying much."
The man left with a Ron Paul DVD and campaign literature, perhaps not surprising given the fact that Fred Thompson has resorted to asking for applause at certain campaign events.
The Romney camp, by contrast, showed all the signs of a campaign on its way with its impressive propaganda machine and clean-cut college volunteers, yet no one seemed interested.
I hadn't even introduced myself when the two college boys interrupted me.
"Sorry," they said. "We're not allowed to talk to reporters."
"No questions at all?" I asked. "None?" I offered to quote them anonymously, then I offered to not quote them at all, just eager to hear what they had to say.
"Sorry. We don't make the rules," they said, and directed me to Romney's website.
Perhaps the Romney volunteers (or their superiors) aren't eager to talk about a candidate that was described by the GOA's Pratt as "kind of like the thief who sticks a gun in your ribs and demands $100, but then gives you $25 back to 'soften' the blow." Romney, who has actively pursued support of the gun lobby in this campaign, acknowledged this year he did not join the NRA until August 2006.

Fantastic!
Great outcome to your interviews -- thanks for sharing!
I think we should embrace opportunities to discuss Ron Paul with journalists.
I've been approached by plenty of local bloggers and independent journalists (but never a hugely syndicated writer). I keep in mind never to "put words into Dr. Paul's mouth" when asked about his positions.
My favorite questions are along the line of "why I'm so committed to supporting Ron Paul", which then gives me a chance to give my personal perspective.
For example, when asked why I work so many hours as a grassroots volunteer, I explain "I'm not working for free. I'm working for free-DOM, which I believe is given to us along with a responsibility to maintain it. I view Dr. Paul as the greatest advocate for my liberty and yours."
About a week ago, I was at one of our meetup events (a college football tailgate) and approached by a member of the B*sh family, who I spoke with for 20 minutes before he identified who he was. It was nice I could reflect on our conversation and not regret a single word I had said.
Anyway, kudos to the OP and yourself for generating positive press!
"I Work For FREEdom!"
...or even "Will Work for FREEdom" would make a great Ron Paul t-shirt for every volunteer!
Contact info
I have the reporter's name and contact information (phone and e-mail). I am going to keep it confidential until the article comes out. Then maybe I will release it so we can all write her to thank her for writing about Dr. Paul. By then you will see her name on the article anyway. Her e-mail is wsj.com. She was typing while I spoke. Seemed very professional. A very nice lady. I was very polite to her.
reporter's name kept confidential?
what's the purpose of that? I don't want to contact her, I just want a small clue that this in-credible story might be true.
What's her name?
the point
The point is so like a billion people don't write her... You know she would get like 1,000 e-mails in one minute. How the hell is that going to help anything? She didn't say "Please post my contact information online." I suppose if she wanted to, she could have done that herself, right?
No offense, but im sort of
No offense, but im sort of worried what shes going to write this article about, considering the posts youve made so far.
"You don't gain much by being angry. I see this more as an intellectual, philosophical fight than a political, personality fight." - Ron Paul
She may...
She may write about my posts, but I think my posts are fine. Also, any publicity is good publicity. I spoke to her alot about his positions, and I mentioned that I did not feel he was being covered adequately in the mainstream media based on his performance. I told here he won more straw polls than any other Republican candidates and has the second highest amount of campaign funds of any Republican candidate. It was 47 minutes I said alot of great things about him.
sorry to be a bummer... but
sorry to be a bummer... but having worked in reality tv... i can tell you that producers already know what they want to hear when they come to you for an interview. there is a research and casting process that is done first. so, rest assured, you were "selected." we'll know the reasons they chose you when the article comes out. fingers crossed.
Reality TV and the Wall Street Journal are different.
One is entertainment; the other, journalism. Parameters for selection and questioning are different.
One is TV; the other, print, with no "casting" involved.
