Chuck Baldwin Not Listed as Presidential Candidate in New York

The following is an email I sent to Troy Reynolds, New York representative for the Baldwin campaign. I also sent it to the Contact US web page on Chuck Baldwin's website:

Dear Mr. Reynolds,

I live in Monroe County, NY and supported Congressman Ron Paul's bid for the Presidency. Recently, Dr. Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin, Constitutional Party for the office of the President. I realize that Mr. Baldwin is a write-in candidate, but was shocked to see that his name is not listed as a Presidential Candidate in New York

I called my county BOE (Board of Elections) and asked why Baldwin's name and party affiliate does not show up on the list and their response was, "This is what we got from the State BOE; we have no control over the candidate list."

So I called the State BOE number (518-474-8200, Election Operations) and asked the same question. Their answer was, "It is up to the write-in candidate to 'get the word out' about their candidacy. If a candidate is not on the ballot, their name does not appear on the list."

I feel this is completely unfair and bias against write-in candidates. If a candidate meets the State requirements for a write-in, their name should appear alongside the balloted candidates as a viable choice. How else is the voting public supposed to know about all candidates for political office?

I urge Mr. Baldwin to seek whatever legal options are open to him and file a complaint with the Attorney General to get this changed before the general election.

For those folks who live in other States and support Chuck Baldwin, please check your State/Local BOE and verify if your State has the same policy about write-in candidates as does New York.

This issue is a serious disadvantage for this 3rd party candidates.
