3 in 5 voters: Boot Every Congressman - Rasmussen Poll
If given the choice, a new poll reveals, 59 percent of Americans would sweep Capitol Hill clean of the current batch of senators and representatives to elect an entirely new Congress.
Only 17 percent of voters polled said they would be willing to keep the current legislature.
Rasmussen Reports conducted the national telephone survey on the heels of Congress passing a widely unpopular financial bailout bill, revealing a significant amount of voter dissatisfaction with the nation's current lawmakers.

Thank you for contacting me about the $700 billion to bail out Wall Street. I voted against it because I believed it lacked meaningful relief for homeowners facing foreclosure, and it left taxpayers with the short end of the stick.
Still, make no mistake: I understand the severity of this financial crisis. The bottom line is that until we stem the record number of home foreclosures, this crisis will continue to worsen.
That’s why I’ve proposed a three-part plan to address the financial crisis, including help for homeowners.
First, I’m working on legislation to create new ways for homeowners to refinance their mortgages and stay in their homes. My proposal will require Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to retool mortgages that they hold on their books. It will also establish a direct loan facility within the Federal government to require lenders and other financial institutions that benefit from the bailout to refinance or modify mortgages in danger of default or foreclosure.
Second, I am calling for an investigation into the business practices of major credit rating agencies that helped foster the enormous growth of the mortgage-backed securities industry. Investors relied on and trusted in those credit ratings, and the public deserves to know how these rating agencies concluded that such risky investments could receive high credit ratings.
And finally, we must better regulate all aspects of the financial markets. Today’s financial crisis results from years of inadequate oversight that has been far too tolerant of excessive risk taking.
Meantime, I’ll continue to press Congress to act quickly to keep people in their homes and put our economy back on track.

Now how did he/she vote on FISA, HR 1955 (House Vote), Patriot Act and so on?

Would you vote against your republican incumbent for an unknown democrat?
Does it matter that your incumbents have created our $10 trillion debt, voted more often than not against the Constitution and have perpetuated the Iraq war on THEIR watch?
Sure the republicans say that the democrats will rob you. I agree. But apparently the republicans don't mind robbing you of your rights though.

excellent post realdeal.
this is the message that needs to be conveyed to the american voter in order to transform this blob of anger into an effective strategy of collective power.
we all need to encourage people to put their ideological allegiances in the drawer for a few weeks.
methinks that in order to sweeten the pot so that the medicine will go down easier is to mention that they are free to vote whomever they wish for president and just to GENTLY remind them that there are more than 2 choices.
If in doubt, vote them out.

A targeted approach...
World markets are in a shambles! The bailout isn't working. Does that mean we don't have to pay for it? Of course not!
But it does mean that the millions of Americans, those who wrote and called to say "no," while their traitorous Senators and House Representative said "yes," are going to be even angrier come tax time.
But wait, let's think about this, why wait until April to get angry?
It is time for a housecleaning! Time to show them that they work for Main Street, not Wall Street. And the time is now. Not in 4 years, Not in 2 years, but rather in the next 30 days!
There are several Senators who voted "yes" who are in tight races, and more who are vulnerable. In the House, the analysis is even better. There are over a dozen who are in vulnerable races, where a little bit of effort might make all the difference. And, a number of Senators are also subject to recall (18 states allow of it).
Targeting these so-called "representatives of the people," with print and radio ads highlighting their betrayal, could really make an impact on their chances for re-election -- and put the fear of constituency back into the Washington elite.
Are you interested in making it happen? There isn't much time before the election, so it will take money (quite a bit, things cost more at the last minute) and effort (the same).
What can you do? Make an investment to save America.
Can you participate by offering time (to write letters, post to forums, hang door hangers), special skills (graphic/ad design, copy writing, political analysis, seed capital(!), printing) or funds (did we mention money)? Please send a donation or make a pledge to un-elect these traitors.
Contact the Constituent Response Team at constituentresponse@gmail.com if you can pledge something toward saving America for the Americans on Main Street.

as far as i understand
dr. paul is running unopposed.
so he's safe.
the strategy here would be is to take that unbridled discontent and mold it into an effective tactic.
like targeting all the members of the House Banking subcommittee towards a goal of making Ron Paul THE ranking member come next January.
this is even more critical after understand that bailout oversight is limited to the ranking members of those committees with the confidentiality clause written in.
this is no time for argument imo.
one must be flexible and constantly aware of the conditions and then be able and willing to react on a moment's notice, even if conditions crack your longstanding assumptions.

Unfortunately,
most voters seem to think that THEIR folks that they've sent are just fine, that everyone else's rep is the problem.
As visibly bad as Barney Frank and Chris Dodd have been during this entire ordeal, as corrupt as they are, as much as they blocked any changes/oversight in Freddie/Fannie.....They will probably remain right where they are until they retire and hand-pick a successor just as corrupt as themselves. (NOTE: Frank & Dodd are just 2 very visible examples of the housing problem....certainly not the only ones).
Sure, 3 in 5 VOTERS want to KICK THEM ALL OUT....but...
... What will Diebold have to say about it at the polling places?
Poor Dr Paul is carrying the weight of these mostly idiotic...

2nd distict of Florida - U.S. House - 2 weeks ago I would of told you that there wasnt a chance in hell we were going to pull of an upset over the incumbent - but last week Mr. Boyd handed us a gift - his yes vote on the bailout - hows that for a bitter sweet gift? It's breathed new life into our campaign - Everybody is pissed about it and pleased as punch about an anti bailout candidate- and good news for me - if we do make it - I'm going to DC to keep Mulligan in line as an aide -- whoopee!!!

False Alternative!
The article presents this as a choice between keeping them all or firing them all. This is ridiculous, and will never happen, either way. Clearly I would throw out most of them, the ones who are typically wrong. But why throw out those who were mostly on the right side? Ron Paul? Who would you replace him with?
This nonsense is the result of cluttered and confused cogitation. And those who believe it is a solution typically envision themselves as the great heroes who will lead us to . . . What? . . . well that's the problem, they do not know what this is about. They do not recognize that this is about Liberty, nor do too many even understand what Liberty is. If their vision is so confused as to demand the firing of ALL Congressmen, and that includes Ron Paul and few other good ones, then they cannot tell the difference between a solution and a disaster. This is the problem we already face.
Stop emoting, Start thinking.
It's about the vote.
I have been following my representatives votes. Voting records can not be disputed. If their votes merit reelection then of course the incumbents should keep their jobs.
"If in doubt, vote them out."

Find out if the candidate running against the incumbent in your
distict is against bailouts and even a little pro liberty - and if they are - help them win!! your being on a staff makes for a great opportunity to sway more to our side (ive been able to get the revolution manifesto in everyones hands ive been working with) - and the contacts you have made in the liberty community can be invaluable to a candidate running a close race or coming from behind - they will remember the difference you made!
If the challenger happens to have the same position on bailouts and freedom as the incumbent - offer to meet with them over coffee - first explain it to them - most are confused on the subject - and let them know the support that is available to them if they do come around to our way of thinking - remind them that freedom is popular, and feels good too ! leave if you havent gotten anywhere, and your time still wont have been wasted - at the least you made someone aware of what may be a new way of thinking for them - be polite.
candidates running against incumbents are very easy to get face time with - go do it!

Best post of the day.
Thanks Zak for all that you have done for Liberty.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Edmund Burke
Thank You, Zak!
So far I have run into nothing but vitriol from alleged Ron Paul supporters, who are angry at me because I point out the OBVIOUS FACT that kicking out ALL Congressmen includes kicking out Ron Paul. If we cannot reason any better than this, if we are confused about this, then we are the problem just as much as anyone.
As a response to my post above I expected more vitriol. As the first response, yours, shows that you get it, and I am grateful to you for this!
The point is that we need to be able to tell the difference between good and bad, support the good even if not perfect and in need of education which you and I, at least, can supply, and oppose the bad, by whatever means suits the situation. If we cannot tell the difference between good and bad, then we are the problem!!!!
The terminology is telling: FIRE CONGRESS, clearly means ALL. Yet some are so deficient in logic they do not know what a universal quantifier is. I knew this as a small child.
The vitriolic screaming and spitting to FIRE [ALL of] CONGRESS is reminiscent of a poorly behaved brat. We do need to fire probably 2/3 of them, as a start, and replace them with people who get it, but I refuse to sacrifice Ron Paul just to fire ALL of Congress. Where would this entire movement be without Ron Paul? It may be OUR battle now, but without him and those like him, there would be no movement at all.
Thank you, Zak! Keep up the good work!
I'm with you JMB
And you bet I'll keep it up - even if my guy losses, at the least I'll still be an elector here at the leon county republican party executive committee!
(really hoping we win though - working in the same building as Ron Paul - that keeps me inspired to get out there and win ! ) have a good one - I'm outa here !

We need to push the fact
that Obama, Biden, McCain and Clinton all voted for this bailout package.
That they are part of Congress..they are part of the problem.

One can dream
I emailed my 2 Senators and my Congressman just now. I reminded them of their votes against the Constitution, the ongoing Iraq war, and the $10 trillion debt. I then forwarded this article and suggested regretfully that they deserved to be fired.

This is bigger than the
This is bigger than the White House, and more importantly, its doable! I've thrown my energies behind promoting voterbomb as of late. Garage sale signs all over the area, calling local radio, these are the things we can all do to make this dream a reality!
Yeah, sure.. let's see how many remember come voting time...
Voters have short attention spans. Government has big balls. It's been that way for awhile now and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
The thing many do not
The thing many do not realize is that many of these Senators and Congressmen have NO opponents. So you can NOT get them out. That is how it is in AR, and probably a LOT of other places..
Sounds like you need to find someone in 2 years to run
Or do it yourself!

Perfect opportunity...
If your incumbent is anti liberty - pro big government - get involved with the opposite party - and either find a liberty candidate to back or run yourself in 2 years time! I have been amazed at how much easier it is to get things done when your working on a local campaign - my Ron Paul campaign experience is being put to good use - your contacts from the energetic liberty crowd are very valuable - go put your experience to use!

No, Zak..you do not get it.
No, Zak..you do not get it. It is VERY hard and super expensive to run for federal OR state office. I understand a few years ago a woman who had support of the Republican party and got (I think it is) 10,000 signatures and spent almost $40,000 did not even get close to being elected. The state has very restrictive laws on how to get on the ballot. Unless you have a millionaire backing you, you do not have a chance. If one wants to back me, I would do it. Oh, and BTW, many towns in AR have UNDER 1000 people in them. My town is the county seat and has 6400. Pretty hard to get 10,000 signatures, alone, without a bunch of money. I am going to call the Governor's office and complain, and see if possible to bring it up in the state legislature, but I doubt I can have an impact.
BTW, there are some great Congressmen around..just two I can think of besides RP are Kaptor and Kucinich. THEY for sure need to be kept where they are...and maybe 50 more..
Crickett I have to disagree
Crickett I have to disagree with you on kucinich.. the guy is a socailist! much of the reason why the US finds itsself in the position it sits today with its debt etc. is because of peop[le just like him with there socialist leanings! he does some things good but overall he is a stooge! we need congressmen who vote like Ron Paul on EVERY ISSUE! the other problem is that idiot also stood there with that speech he gave and endorsed obama.. you think he needs to stay? he is a big part of the problem! he is not a solution!
