The Free World Votes -- Everyone vote for President of the U.S.A
Hey Everyone!
I've been working hard on a hobby website that I'd like to share with you all.
As an Australian, I obviously can't vote in the U.S. election, but I'm extremely interested in it (and a avid Ron Paul supporter). So I've created a website where everyone from every country can "vote" for President.
Check it out: http://www.thefreeworldvo...
In my poll I've made it as fair as possible, you can vote for Obama, McCain, Nader, Baldwin, Barr or McKinney. Once you've selected your candidate, you can choose an 'alternate' candidate for which you would have preferred to vote for, but can't now they've dropped out of the race.
At the moment Barack Obama is winning... I'm sure you guys will be keen to change that! Some good news so far, Ron Paul is the leading 'alternative' candidate!! (Check the quick stats on the left side of the map)
I'd also appreciate any comments and constructive criticisms.
BTW, if you could help me out a bit and digg it: http://digg.com/2008_us_e...

Thanks for all the votes and
Thanks for all the votes and all the support! =D
Does any one feel this website
is a wasted effort? I'm so sick of polls.
not at all
a big part of what we believe in serves to restore our standing in the world community. Im encouraged when I see 2 votes for Baldwin in Etchasketchistan or wherever. They cant vote- but to me their support is appreciated.

yo!!
yer site is just like them all.
Almost IMPOSSIBLE to vote for an "un-annointed" candidate.
WTF???
make it EASIER!!!!!
I'm not sure what you
I'm not sure what you mean... If you can click on the big 'Vote' button at the top you can select from one of the 6 candidates from the top 6 parties. On the step after that you can select or write in the candidate you would have actually preferred.
I have a little notifying system that will tell me of any write-ins so I can add them to the predefined list for others to select in the future.
I think my site is actually a lot better than the others which typically only give you the option of 'mccain', 'obama' or 'other'.
I voted for Baldwin and Paul
But Baldwin's vote count did not go up after I voted. (Canada). If you zoom in, there is one vote for Baldwin in Alberta and one in Manitoba. Zoom out and it shows a total of 1 vote for Baldwin in all of Canada. Diebold didn't help out with any of the coding did they? Maybe it's just not refreshing properly or something.
Me too. What other choice do we have?

I just voted as of 3am eastern
The vote tallies should
The vote tallies should update every 15 minutes -- I'll see what I can do about getting this to be more often (I just don't want to kill my server!).
From what I can see it has been updated now and on the world map it is showing 2 for Chuck.
don't know how you vote on that
thing. I don't see any Ron Paul!
He’s in the “alternates” category.

Hi Jordie,
Just voted and left you a message regarding the Montana ballot which actually includes Ron Paul for the Constitution Party here. People have to write in Chuck Baldwin if they want to vote for him. (I voted Chuck on your poll but will probably vote Ron Paul on election day as I'm one of the few to have him on the ballot for real this year :-)

gday jordie

I could really go a vanilla slice.
Well, that was a big waste of my time...
I could not correctly type in the required data where you prove you're not a bot because I couldn't read it! And it would not change to something else like most sites do....the first letter was unreadable, looked like a needle or a splinter..it wasn't an l, it wasn't a t...who knows what it was!
I've now added in a
I've now added in a regenerate image link that will give you a new code.
Sorry about it being a bit unreadable, its the only way to deceive the robot voters, humans are better at picking up subtle differences in letters.
Thanks for letting me know,
Thanks for letting me know, I'll work on something to regenerate it.

Also, I think its a great chance to show how popular support for third-party candidates is.
