RNC Recap: The End of America
After taking the photo above, of a conflict between law enforcement and RNC protesters, Associated Press photographer Matt Rourke was himself tackled and bloodied by police. He was arrested and held for 10 hours, then released without being charged.
Leave it to the Boston Phoenix, my hometown's free tabloid rag, to do the reporting that this country's "paper of record" and the rest of the MSM - print or television - won't come near.
Yup, they roughed up and arrested that guy in the picture above just for being there. Look at the stormtrooper's knee on that guy's neck. Then they roughed up and arrested the AP photographer just because he took the picture.
Do you think people at the RNC weren't scared? Does this look like a peaceful American city to you, where the democratic is free to take its course?
Steps 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 in the 10 steps to fascism, as detailed in Naomi Wolf's excellent book, The End of America were in full effect in St. Paul: 5) Surveil ordinary citizens, 6) Infiltrate citizens' groups, 7) Arbitrarily detain and release citizens, 8) Target key individuals and 9) Restrict the press.
It is happening, right here, right now in America, and not just in St. Paul. All 10 steps are now in force in America, including the last: Subvert the rule of law. This is why Ms. Wolf is now attempting to alert us that not much time remains. Unfortunately, it appears that the elite's divide and conquer strategy has mostly worked.
Most Americans, as evidenced by users on this site of all places, have bought into the false left/right dichotomy that the elites have created, and now use it to happily and smugly characterize and categorize themselves and demonize the rest. The fact that we're all Americans, first and foremost, is long forgotten. Meanwhile, our republic is slipping away as we sling mud at one another.
But I can assure you of this: These guys don't care one lick what color your categorize yourself as (do you like red or blue better?), or which side of the isle you self-importantly think you prefer. They'll slam you down, break your arms, bloody your face and throw you in jail without reading you your rights just the same. Red, blue - it don't matter.
In case you only saw the cheerful, fascist pep-rally inside the convention hall on TV, here's what you missed, courtesy of the Boston Phoenix. And let me tell you this from first hand experience: It really sucked being there. It did feel like the end of America.
Where's the outrage over media abuse in St. Paul?

Anyone know
if any lawsuits have been filed on the police and Sheriff of St. Paul?
Protesting against the protest quashers
This kind of heavy-handed police activity is going on not just in the US but UK and Europe as well. Freedom to protest has been curtailed considerably.
Under the control-freak Blair (someone oddly praised in the US by some for warmongering) protesting outside the House of Commons was banned. One man, Brian Haw, has led a one-man crusade by camping outside. That put Blair's draconian nonsense where it should be because the judges found in favour of Haw!

For Free Enterprise NOT Covert Corporatism
I wondered if the police were going to start
throwing their bicycles at the crowds. Why not. They were already hitting people with them. A sad state of affairs we have here.
I long for the day,
When the family members of these "peace officers" are brutally beaten by an oppressive government force. See how they like it. These guys make me sick, squashing free speech, and eroding the values of the nation.
This is all about the ruling elite, oppressing the working man through fiat money, interest, inflation and desecration of the Constitution. As far as I know, there are no rich police officers on the streets. They are not helping the cause of freedom.
Perhaps, one day, something will happen, to make them wake up.
"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution is to restrain the government." Ron Paul.

We're over 50 Trillion in Debt?
Fixed news just had a guest on who says if you check the treasury web site under financial reports, you will find the report from the fed that says, taking into consideration social security and such we have a debt of over 50 trillion that bush and his surrogates do not want us to know about.
Just wanted to say it's
Just wanted to say it's always a fine line as to just exactly what will trigger people to move. Myself, I've been itchin to move for at least 30 years, but itchin to move and setting off on a suicide mission are two separate things.(no, I'm not afraid of dying, just want it to be in pursuit of a reasonable goal.)
Gripe at me if you want, but anybody that thinks this is a free country is delusional. Therefor, I DON'T go to rallye's, the cops here are just as braindead as they are everywhere else. Kent state should've clued ya in.
One thing I find a little amusing is Jesse Ventura is contemplating running again, and I'd like to know if he's supposed to be good, why this could happen where he'd been governor?
While I haven't checked it out yet, it seems the slave uprising thing might be a pretty good opportunity.

What it has come to.........
I forwarded this article to another. This is the reply I got back:
"I look at it as career hazard. You were in town....don't you remember how
out of control it was. It is hard for police officers to listen to one
person when hundreds are out of control. If people want to carry on the way
they did...they should accept the consequences. (there are only a few
reports of people getting swept up into the mess that were just in the wrong
place at the wrong time.)"
This reminds me of something I heard at the airport
This reminds me of something I heard at the airport on my way home from the RNC. There was a couple in front of me - Republicans - talking about how "scary" it was in Minneapolis. But they weren't talking about the police. They were talking about the protesters that they saw on TV.
The woman was telling another woman in line, "We didn't walk around in the city - we just used the hotel bus to the convention center." Something to that effect.
In other words, she didn't examine her own surroundings, she just relied on the TV for her truth about the world.
I walked around the city, and didn't see many protesters. From what I saw, the cops outnumbered the protesters 500 - 1.
Oh this whole situation
is really starting to burn me up.. I was there too. The damn cops circled the Rally For the Republic like some hungry vultures.
Karma.. all I can say is Karma.
Did you show them

You'll have no problem telling her to piss off then, when she asks for help.
Tell her remember when I told you there was a problem and you said these people knew what was coming to them..
I don't forget the hateful people I meet, nor do I forget the people who are nice.
The real actions
You may want to inform your friend that in both Denver and St. Paul, the only ones making trouble and being violent were either police/CIA plants in the crowd or the police pinning people down in a small area and not letting them move freely. Accept the consequences?...
I can't believe there are actually people out there who think "groups of Anarchists" were causing problems. That's been the CIA cover for a long time.
Get them in the ballpark...
The underlying presupposition of the response that you posted is: you are guilty (by association at that) until proven innocent when in a large crowd.
It's so idiotic. If one of these pre-programmed robo-voters was put to a similar test--say, in a ballpark--where some of the crowd (provocateurs or non-provocateurs) were violent, would they believe then that the entire crowd at the ballpark (or stadium, or whatever venue) was guilty until proven innocent and subject to torture (taser), abuse and arrest?

I'd Give Up...
If I didn't love this country, my family, and the idea of Freedom and how important it is.
It's not to say that somedays I get so overwhelmed by all the heinous shit that goes down, I feel much of my actions are in vein. Its very depressing.
My wife tells me to stop trying to take on all the burdens of the world, because I'm already taking on so much in my own family, work etc, as all you great people are doing as well. I guess I just have a habit of caring too much for so many things.
Last weekend I put my remaining money reserves into Gold, and stocked up on supplies. $800 dollars worth. I also purchased ammo and a new rifle for hunting food.
This summer, I went through the delegation process for the first time, and fought to spread this amazing message of Liberty & real Freedom. I still do to this day.
Even the "crazy" predictions by many of you and Dr. Paul are coming true, which is making me look quite prophetic, but I obviously am not. I simply read, educate myself, and try to find the real facts.
I've mentioned much of the discussions that are going on the DailyPaul, only to be vindicated months later. Bailouts, failing economy... I even heard today on the radio some neo-con dummy spouting how terrorist chatter is spinning up to pre 9/11 levels.
Only because of this site and others that carry the true message, was I immediately able to see that this was just more fear mongering.
It felt like yet another attempt to distract us.
Giving up is easy. Its easy for all of us to just give up, and hope the next guy does the HARD work.
And there you have it... so many sheeple in this country have done just that. They revert back to their ways, their routines, only to find eventually that life as we know it has completely changed, outside of their heart, in material things only.
It is what is in the heart that we must get back to. I encourage everyone to NOT give up. To keep battling through.
In any case, I hope there are a few of you still out there that know Ron Paul is still our only guy for this election. Even if 'm the last one writing him in, so be it. Our job is to select the person who best supports and matches our principles, and fights for those principles. And therefore, it is you, Dr. Paul, for me.
God Bless all of you,
James
Whenever I feel like giving
Whenever I feel like giving up I will think of your post, James. Thanks for taking the time to write it. And thanks for all that you have done for liberty.
Never Give Up
James,
You are the type of person who will fight and save this country. You are the one's and two's who will band together and fight when all is seemingly lost. The one's and two's must band together, from every state, from every county, from ever city, from every town, from every home, to fight this evil that is prevailing on the American scene, just as our forefathers, the freedom fighters did in 1776. And fight we must because the lives and futures of our children are at stake, just as it was then. So many Presidential Decision Directives's have been issued, unconstitutionally, that it makes your head spin. And it may look overwhelming but it is not. Taken individually, this battle is winable. Each and every battle must be analyzed and a plan put in place to effect it's successful outcome. "They" can't be everywhere at all times. Learn where 'They" are and plan around them. Every defeat they encounter will consolidate to breakdown their resistance and agression against you. Their plan for you is similar. The overwhelming force they intend to employ can be overcome with patience and practice and persistance. Employ PGP for email security. It's the best that is out there. In peace, freedom and liberty my brother.
bless you james
thank you for such a shared statement of honesty.
now that everyone is obsessed with events that were discussed here months ago, perhaps it's time to consider the possibilities of how to respond?
keep moving forward that is.
with no fear.
and a buttload of compassion.
"We get up early to BEAT the crowds"
Don't let's forget the T-shirts sold by the Denver police as a souvenir of the DNC, mentioned here and here on DP. Both of those posts seemed to slip by without notice or comment.
Different convention, same attitude.
You know, in Social Studies, I'm teaching my kids about the people you find in a community. We're at the part where we discuss local "rescue heroes," and dang if my job isn't difficult. I want to be able to tell them that if they're ever in trouble, they can just turn to a local policeman for help...*sigh*...
Human Nature and why history repeats
I don't think the police acted because they were part of a conspiracy so much as they acted from their natures.
Figure that the extra police came voluntarily and were mostly Republican, thinking the disruptors were mostly Democrats, so they're adversarial already. They looked forward to all the special training and gear. Some of them are ex-military or wanna-be military. They want to impress the FBI and DHS guys who are briefing them. It's a really bad start.
Then, they have all the training and put on the gear and they're looking for danger. Meanwhile, the "intelligence" is all over blogs and websites looking at comments like "I'd like to shut down the convention," or "I could kill them" and all the over-the-top comments you get in such places.
It is really easy to start a war under these conditions.
I look forward to seeing a really great documentary on these events, because it is very, very difficult to tell this story in a sound bite.
IMissLiberty
a documentary is on its way
...hopefully arriving before the election.
will post it here when it's released online.
excellent point btw about the use of that ideological division to motivate human beings to instill violence on other human beings.
that is why the bailout debacle couldn't have come a better time.
it has begun to shatter those ideologies that divide.
cops included.

It really is 'we the people' against tyranny.
I don't think even those who call themselves democratic socialists are totally blind to the danger we're in.
Most Americans want to live in a generally free country. The question is whether they will realize that America's status as a free country hangs by a thread before it all comes tumbling down.

Armor?!
Just the way the police are armored is offensive. In a more perfect union, the police would be less armored and by default, more humane.
The more I learn about this government
The more I love my guns.
If our fellow citizens, seeing these images, are not moved to
action, then it has to make one wonder exactly "what" will get a definitive rise out of them.
Tyranny continues as long as it's profitable. It ceases only when it becomes unprofitable.

We need to come together
I will generally say that I disagree with almosts every position the left takes. However, I will never disagree with the truth and Ms. Wolf's book tells the truth( Yes I read it). We can disagree later about the welfare state later if we still have that right. She is spot on on her interpretation of the move to a police state. Read her book, no lover of freedom will disagree with what she writes.

The question begs to be asked…
… Exactly what are YOU doing to RISE UP against the lynch party? Or, if you are also sitting on the "comfortable side" of the aisle (posting to the DP doesn't count as squat), then exactly (no generalities please) what would you have the few of us that are awake do? Spread the word? Email & write our congress critters? Let's hear your brilliant suggestions.
Yes, I want to hear what ANY of you brave CS's are doing (or have done) to lock horns with the Beast. Tell you what… Everyone has heard about the shot heard around the world that started the American revolution. Your assignment (should you care to accept it) is to get your trusty thirty '06 and put a round between the running lights of the first NMW thug that you see. No? Well, until people are willing to start taking these jack boots out, then I would suggest that you slap a board in the open pie-holes you call mouths.
The TRUTH is that freedom is REAL now. You can find it on the other side of the fence that you've built around your mind. I have been practicing passive resistance for over thirty years. I have not paid income taxes in 20 years and have not had a driver license in over 15 years (and yes, one pays a price for passive resistance). How about you? Just resolve to STOP cooperating and participating in their frauds and schemes. Ignore them as if they don't exist. Go to jail if have to. They can't imprison the entire population.
Personally, I am SICK and TIRED of living in fear and being constantly reminded by our Dear Leaders how terrified I we should all be. I wasn't afraid of being born into this F**ked Up world and I won't live the rest of my life in fear of leaving it.

Thank you
Michael and sempiternal, I would like to thank you for the posts. I live in Minnesota and am absolutely disgusted at what took place during the RNC. Unfortunately, it did not surprise me, as it was facist behavior, consistent with GOP leadership in our state.
I attended the R4R @ the Target Center, and then spent my 2 hr drive home, listening to the RNC on the radio. That was also a stark contrast.
I appreciate the time and effort in your posts. It is now your fault that I am still sitting in front of my computer @ 2:22 am, when I should have gone to bed long ago!
My pleasure. More people need to see what actually happened.
I hope you had a chance to watch the videos and slideshows at the end of my post. Together they do a pretty good job of contrasting the overall atmospheres inside and outside the RNC, even though they don't show the military aspects, such as the gun boats, humvees, and soldiers (I wonder why).
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Thank you, Michael!
I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. There has been WAY too much in-fighting going on on these boards.
We need to remember what Dr. Paul says about collectivism.
Name-calling will get us nowhere.
RNC's St Paul Was an Occupied City:
Most the pictures do not even come close to telling the whole story.
I posted some of my photos in the following article, but it still does not explain the nightmare of being there; experiencing the police state from all directions, air, land, and sea - getting yelled at not to take photos.
Two Republican Conventions in 2008: An Eyewitness Contrast
Imagine you are viewing them in the following surroundings; yellow school bus loads of Army soldiers in riot gear, hiding out behind the St. Paul Cathedral, dump trucks parked in the middle of roads blocking off public bridges, camouflaged military humvees driving through town, city blocks and streets in the middle of downtown barricaded off with 8 foot high black steel gates guarded by federal agents with bomb sniffing dogs, a passenger train sitting empty on the tracks with engine running all day, U.S. Coast Guard boats with mounted machine guns patrolling up and down the Mississippi river running through the middle of town, police helicopters constantly circling overhead, long chains of rental vans packed with officers in black uniforms and body armor speeding up and down the streets and highways led and followed by police cars with sirens blaring, long lines of police officers in black with helmets and clubs, blocking off public areas.
In all seriousness, the RNC was a complete sham. Everyone attending was led to believe that all the force was necessary because of violent protesting, but most of the violence was a result of police aggression.
It was sickening to see oblivious republicans inside cheering on their false hopes, waving their little party hats and signs, while the city was locked down in a police state outside.
I did not mention this anywhere because I did not know how to explain it, but the RNC had hundreds of empty tour buses drive through the town, winding their way for many blocks through the streets coming into the convention center empty - they also left the convention center empty, except for a single police officer on each bus. This was on the first day. It really seemed like it was all for an illusion, either that, or they were doing a test run to see what would happen.
Another bizarre thing was a huge television screen set up between the capital and the convention center. The eerie thing was, that in front of this giant television, that was as large as a billboard, was only one or two people sitting on folding chairs - it was like something out of the Twilight Zone. It was playing PBS Frontline documentaries that were critical of the Bush administration. I suppose it was an attempt by the RNC to try to get protesters to watch TV? It must have cost a lot of money.
The whole time this was going on, the local media was claiming the RNC was going to cancel the convention due to storms.
Also, here are some very good professional photo and video collections that show both sides.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Power to the Patriots!
This battlefield has many fronts... determine how you can help the most and then do something about it. You have the Power to change a nation.
Most users on this site have bought into left-right paradigm?
The left-right paradigm refers to the political ideologies of liberalism and conservatism. Empirically I have not observed your statement to be true.
There has been a very small number of individuals on here who have referred to themselves as conservatives. And I haven't seen anyone on here refer to themselves as liberal (except in the classical sense of the term).
The task of pro-liberty people (libertarians) should be to attack both of those ideologies. They both fall seriously short when it comes to the defense of liberty.
Patrick, you've bought into it and you don't even realize it
If you feel the need to fight against both of these false ideologies, it means that you already accept them as truth. You have already bought in, and you don't realize it yourself.
But by your own words, it is clear that you've bought in hook, line & sinker.
"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free"
I don't "accept them as truth"
I can point out their flaws and inconsistencies all day!
I do however acknowledge and accept that they exist. It would be foolish not to. After all, the majority of people believe in these two ideologies.
Secondly, doesn't one need to point out the falsity of them both?
I don't think we're going to get change without people changing their beliefs. It seems like you're strategy Michael is to just ignore them.
It is the men behind the curtain we need to expose
The New World Order advocates, Council on Foreign Relations members are pulling the strings. They don't care which political party you are registered with.
Freedom....
Yes, there are group-thinkers and there are free entities.
A little food for thought
"I have outlined a number of difference(s) among the slaves; and I take these differences and make them bigger. I use fear, distrust, and envy for control purposes. These methods have worked on my modest plantation in the West Indies and [they] will work throughout the South. Take this simple little list of differences, think about them. On top of my list is "Age" but it is there only because it begins with an "A." The second is "Color" or "Shade," there is intelligence, size, sex, size of plantation, status of plantation, attitude of owner, whether the slaves live in the valley , on a hill, East, West, North, or South, have a fine or coarse hair, or is tall or short. Now that you have a list of differences, I shall give you an outline of action but before that, I shall assure you that distrust is stronger than trust and envy is stronger than adulation, respect and admiration."
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
Yes, I agree with that...
We should come together with liberals and conservative whenever possible to fight the State.
However, we should not delude ourselves into thinking that there is no difference between us.
Because often the liberals and conservatives will side with the State. In instances like those, they are no friend or ally.
