Are Australia and Canada sovereign countries?

If you live in Australia or Canada, it might not be that clear

Here is video showing the supreme leader of Australia and a few says later his counterpart in Canada giving the SAME EXACT SPEECH in support of the US invasion of Iraq?

To coin a phrase, I'm speechless.

These aren't two low level functionaries at work (or are they?) Theoretically, they're heads of sovereign states...theoretically.

Questions:

* Who wrote this speech?

* How, mechanically, did it get into the hands
of these two...let's just call them gentleman?

* Who compelled them to read it?

If all heads of state are going to read the same speech, we don't need a New World Order, do we?

Or maybe it has arrived a bit early in Australia and Canada.

See and hear for yourself:

My family is Kanuk

And yes, they're a sovereign nation.

And as to the speech: One of em pinched the other guy's speech there was a big stink about it (I think that Howard, the Austrillian guy, was the pinchee and the Canuk was the Pincher, but that happened a long time ago so I'm kinda fuzzy on it.)

Yes, I think you're right.

I remember there was some sort of embarrassment about it.

Could they have been reading a letter into the record?

....

If it was an official letter from, say, the Queen, it would have

been read by the Governors-General in each country, not the Prime Ministers.

It's an interesting idea though. You would think they would have prefaced their speech with a comment. Do you know anything about prior to the speech Hannah?

Sorry Lisa, no I don't.

They couldnt squeeze a "sorry" outta that bastard for 12 years

over "The Stolen Generation". That was the first thing Rudd did when he took office pretty much. Howard is gone now thankfully- Im not as up on the philosophies of the Labor or Liberal parties as Id like to be, but it seems Australia is doing okay atm. Theres never been any doubt that Howards drunk lips couldnt get enough of Bush's ass.

This video is disgusting- even a jr high kid knows to remove the hyper links when you turn in someone else's paper. laaawd.

I'm not sorry. I didn't do anything but now I'll probably be up

for "compo".

I am with Lisa on that one.

The only purpose as I could see was to establish a point in time when the claims could start and get the money.
Anyhow, always thought Howard was so far up Bush's A**, Bush could brush Howard's teeth. Scary stuff.

me neither. They WERE owed an official apology...

and they got it. Reparations is a whole other chestnut. Im not interested personally in offering compensation- I didnt have a dog in that fight.

The Queen should have been the one to say "sorry".

Most of the evil that took place against the aboriginals happened prior to the Australian Federation. There would have been no such thing as Australian citizenship -- acts were committed by British citizens under the watch of the Queen's representatives.

EXCELLENT point

Its Australia's black slavery and bailout bill all rolled into one. Make the taxpayers foot the bill for their fu*k-up. I say pass it back to her majesty.

She's busy with Charles' 60th birthday.

Something like five or six official functions for the sad prince.

Or perhaps she still

working on the details of her payrise request.

Not quite. Although I'm not

Not quite. Although I'm not sure, either.

Queen Elizabeth is also the Queen/monarch of both Canada & Australia as well....

The queen is the sovereign of Australia

and the Governor-General is her representative. The Governor-General doesn't do much except back in 1975 when he fired the Prime Minister.

When I went to my citizenship ceremony, I had the choice

of making an oath or an affirmation.

I chose the affirmation. I refused to give an oath to a British queen with ancestors who fought in the Revolution.

Creepy in the extreme.

Pretty disgusting PLUS listening to John Howard is never a nice experience.

Nice find. I'd like to know who the speech writer is too.

I might have to forward this to some reporters.
