Plant The Seed Of Thought

It's been my experience that you can not change a person's mind by bombarding them with vast amounts of information. Or hitting them over the head with your point of view.

You change the way a person thinks by planting a seed. By not giving them information, but letting them think for themselves in the questions you ask.

Such as; have you read the Constitution? It's very easy to read and understand. You can go to your library or go on the Internet to read it. After you've read it ask yourself, have either parties democrat or republican followed the Constitution when voting for and passing our laws?

Or do you know how to find out how your Senators and Representative has voted on the issues? Then tell them where they can find that information.

Let them know there are alternatives to the brand name parties. Again, don't go into details, just let them know how to look it up for themselves.

By asking questions like these you have planted a seed. They may not immediately run to the library or their computer. But they will eventually.

These are great seed questions, do you have any more?

How do you grow seedless watermelons?

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin

What an apt analogy...

When my kids were growing up I used to say that what parents do is simply "plant seeds" in their brains with all of the ideas we are trying to convey. They listen and then their brains cut off, and many times they have no idea what you are saying at the time. But the seed is planted, and later, when a situation comes up where they have to THINK and make a DECISION, that little seed sprouts. Then they make decisions based on what THEY think was a totally unique idea that they "just thought of", when, in fact, it is often one of those seeds that you planted years ago.

And the technique of asking questions to GUIDE people through the process of thought, rather than bombarding them with information is really effective and much more easily accepted. THANKS

Think about it like this

If you're trying to fill an ice cube tray, is it better to turn the water on full blast or slowly?

Who uses ice trays

to get their point across anymore? hehe.
