Ron Paul Keynote at the JBS 50th Anniversary Celebration - [video]
Texas Congressman and former presidential candidate Ron Paul addressed the sold-out crowd at the celebration of the JBS 50th Anniversary. Congressman Paul gave credit to former JBS president and Congressman from Georgia, Larry McDonald. Dr. Paul recalled that Congressman McDonald helped him decide to run for Congress in the 1970s.

Mr. Welch?
OMFG, are you kidding me? Mr. Welch is probably rolling in his grave knowing that a modern hero doesn't know who Mr. Welch is. I think he meant MR. MCMANUS.
Welch's son must have spoken before Dr. Paul
"The assembled members of the Society heard portions of speeches given in the 1970s by JBS founder Robert Welch. The group also heard from Robert Welch's son, Mr. Hillard "Hid" Welch, a member of the JBS National Council."
edit: He did motion in McManus's direction, but maybe Welch was sitting off to Ron's left?

Yes, that's right, Hid Welch spoke before Ron Paul
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Clarify, please
Who meant whom?
What did he say?
I've not been able to watch the video due to slow internet issues the last few days.
Did our good Doc make a major faux pas?

No, Paul is on his toes! Just a confused poster.
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Dr. Paul gives me
a sense of peace. I am almost addicted to listening to him. When I am not listening to him these days, I am usually in a horrible place, if I am listening or reading anything about what is going on. I get away from it, then I wonder what's happening and ugh!
As usual, Dr. Paul is right
The empire is coming to an end. We have to be ready to restore the Republic or we'll have something far worse in its place. The total collapse of a corrupt system doesn't happen every day. We have to be prepared to take full advantage of it. This really is a great opportunity.
Is it too much to ask Ron Paul to give a 20-30 min. State of the Republic address once a month? These really put things in perspective for me.
--------------------------
"I killed the banks"
This is one of the best speeches
I've ever heard the good Doctor give! I do agree, it would be wonderful if he gave a "State of the Republic" address once a month. Let's request this thru the CFL.
Ron Paul is my President -
Thank you Dr. Know!
It couldn't hurt to ask, Debbie
As things deteriorate his viewership might continue to build as people look for genuine wisdom to help them through the tough times. Maybe that will keep them strong and prevent them from accepting the globalist solution : )

"I killed the banks"
that was great!
great speech! It was a little long, but good!
I liked how he threw some new jokes in there that relate.
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Doctor Know.
I like it.

WOW!
Just when I thought I'd heard everything Dr. Paul had to say (from all his past speeches), he still pulls more and more gems out of his bag!
What a great man and statesman.
We who have followed him should realize how lucky (or smart!) we are to endorse such a philosopher.
Most of the country is MISSING OUT.
Keep blindly hanging on to "American Idol" or "Dancing with the Stars."

Yes, it wasn't his typical speech.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Chuck Baldwin Speech
I am not sure how to link to this at the actual JBS site, so I will point you to it in two other ways. First, when I finished watching the Ron Paul keynote speech, I noticed a small box advertising the Chuck Baldwin speech, so you can check it out that way. Second, I went ahead an embedded it on my tumblelog if you want to go there and check it out.
edit: Ooops. I just saw how to get the direct link to viddler. There's a third option.
Either way, I think it is worth watching, particularly for Christians, as his specific topic was "Christians and the Freedom Fight." He makes ones interesting comment early on that I would like to quote here:
I think that is often the case. I happened across a Web page called something like "Pray for Bush," which I think is a wonderful and necessary act. However, once there it became clear quickly that it was more of a Bush lovefest than a site devoted to serious prayer for the man and the position he occupies. The defensive stature taken was off-putting and offensive. Anyways, for those of you who are not Christian, obviously, this means less to you. Still, know that not all Christians are the same. : )
Enjoy the flick and if anyone here thinks it should be put up at Daily Paul and knows how, go for it. I just wanted people to see it who might be interested and seeing as how Baldwin has earned Dr. Paul's respect, I figured some people around here might be interested.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech
About local governments
After being reminded of the factors involved with group motivation while looking into the "action trigger" concept and thinking back to my own studies in group dynamics, etc., one of Dr. Paul's comments made even more sense then it had previously.
We spoke of the role of local government in a true Republic. Not only is this part of the definition of a true Republic, but think of how NOT having more potent local governments affects citizen morale and motivation. That is, people do nothing, in large part because they feel like it won't make a difference.
Can you imagine if the bulk of your laws and the majority of things that bound you and affected you as a citizen were to be found at the local level, where you could actually see the change your votes and activism made? Think of how empowered the people would be and how active they would become. As it is, even if they think they can change something at the local level, the overarching central government makes so much of the local law moot.
If only the federal government would get back to protecting our liberties so that the local government could get on with legislating by the people, for the people. Putting the power back into the hands of the local leaders doe snot mean there will not still be debate about the issue or that everything will be smooth. It means that the debates will be between the people standing in civic buildings, church fellowship halls, the Elks Lodge, and other meeting areas. It means that the people debating will be family and friends, shop keepers and consumers, people with whom you live and people you know. Such things would not be set off in some far off district where "representatives" do just about anything except represent.
Anyways, sorry for the rant. I just can't help but think that I don't want government to solve my problems. I want them to protect my rights to solve my own problems within my community.

He's gotten better and better
He always does better when he's either angry or relaxed, but has had trouble when he's frustrated.
Sure makes a nice contrast to what little I've heard of the "debates."
IMissLiberty
brilliant speech
no teleprompter necessary
that alone makes it outstanding
especially in relation to the stumbling buffoons last night
thanks for sharing
God Bless Dr. KNOW!
He is so smart and so dedicated. Don't you wish there were a magic wand we could wave over his head to duplicate him?
LOL....I needed to see his good mood. Mine has been so gloomy!
the magic wand is real
but only if you use it over your own head
don't believe me though
you can try it yourself
doesn't hurt to see if it works
:)
Go Gandalf!!!!!
I wish we had a guy like Ron Paul in italy too!
Actually we had one his name was Falcone, he started the "Clean Hands" crackdown operation on corruption.
They exploded him with a car bomb.
Protect Ron Paul!!!!!!!!!

Impossible to believe that each speech is BETTER than the last..
I cannot say enough about this man... other than my signature quote below. He reminds us each time he speaks that there is still honor and integrity and greatness in the world.

"Not armies, not nations, have advanced the race; but here and there, in the course of ages, an individual has stood up and cast his shadow over the world."
Well delivered
I've been waiting to hear this speech for a while. How the heck does he get up there without any teleprompter and give such a great talk off the cuff? He mentioned the speech just before his from Mr. Welch so he's obviously coming up with this material on the fly. That is a very difficult thing to do and still maintain a coherent thread. He's sharper at 72 than most of his contemporaries who are even half his age.
The truth flows easily, it's the lies people stumble on.
A lot of stumbling between McCain and Obama.
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Clear conscience
and a healthy body. Just talks about what he is very familiar with and believes in.
superhuman
to have brilliance and know how to communicate it is a very rare commodity.
Did you catch his comments about the government and guns?
that was brilliant

Dr. Know makes Arnold
Dr. Know makes Arnold Schwarzenegger look like a wimp. When he started talking , he was in such a good mood (great to see), but by the end he was dead serious again... When he was talking about the philosophy of liberty and said that he was absolutely certain that it was right, man, so much conviction. This movement has restored my faith in human nature. I want to be like Ron Paul.

"Better to be flexible like bamboo than rigid like oak, for when the storm comes bamboo will bend and survive, where as oak will crack and die."
This man just BEAMS "integrity"
Too bad most people were wearing "sunglasses" during the primaries :-(
I am inspired when I hear Ron speak, but at the same time frustrated that we are being "dealt" our next President by the chess masters of modern politics and economics.
Not sunglasses...
Just like a teamster with skittish horses (which might go somewhere THEY want to go instead of pulling the load), the media put blinders on the electorate and pointed their heads at the anointed candidates.
WOW!
what a magnificent man the doc is. i just truly love this man!
and this quote is now another of my favorites!
"People who carry a revolution are small in numbers, they're dedicated, they're principled, they understand. It might be 5% of the population, and I believe we're there. Because the people that supported our campaign this last year and a half, they were visible, they were more visible than all the other candidates put together. Because they were true believers."

Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Love it, also this quote from earlier
"No matter how much our message is ignored or ridiculed, as was done in the campaign, no matter how much they did to us, it only engerized our grassroots." ~Ron Paul~ Actually, Dr. Paul, it was you who engergized us with your message, your honesty, your integrity, your belief, your light. For that I'm forever humbled and grateful.
Shouldn't ALL people
who are for liberty be in the JBS? Where are the black people? Are they there? JBS is Christian, right? So I guess that would alienate non-Christians, but black people are largely Christian.
