An Honest Presidential Candidate
Submitted by sempiternal on Wed, 10/08/2008 - 19:44
Presidential candidate Dr. Charles Baldwin has been endoresed by Congressman Ron Paul as the presidential candidate that he supports.
Take a moment to listen to Dr. Charles Baldwin's recent speech at the JBS 50th Anniversary Celebration:

Regarding Arms; the 2nd Amendment:
"I know Jesus told Peter to put up a sword, but he did not tell him to give up his sword. In fact, on another occasion he said, if you don't have a sword, sell what you have and go buy one. Now I don't know about you, but I'll take the word of Jesus over the word of Barack Obama any day."
- Chuck Baldwin, Oct 4, 2008, JBS 50th Ann.

On Wall Street Bailout:
"And now, you and I, and our children, are going to be saddled with more than a trillion dollars of extra debt, to bailout these criminals, that disguise themselves as bankers. You know what this is, you know what this bailout is don't you, this is Robin Hood in reverse, stealing from the poor and giving to the rich.
The fact of the matter is, my dad told me years ago, something that I guess our congressmen and senators haven't learned, he said son, if your outgo exceeds your income your upkeep will be your downfall.
And you know what, my friends, that's true for your home, that's true for your business, and that's true for the country. And, we have gotten away from sound money principles for so long now, and all that's happening is the chickens are coming home to roost. And what they've done is put a little band aid on it to make everyone feel better for the election, but what they've done is dig a bigger grave for us to fall into when it all falls apart."
- Chuck Baldwin, Oct 4, 2008, JBS 50th Ann.

Secretary of Treasury
"When I become President of the Untied States, one of the first things I want to do, is I want to appoint Ron Paul, Secretary of the Treasury. And, when my Secretary comes and says, Mr. President, we need to dismantle the Internal Revenue Service, I'm going to say, go for it. And he says, we need to overturn the 16th Amendment, I'm going to say, go for it. And he says, Mr. President, we need to dismantle the Federal Reserve, I'm going to say, go for it!" - Chuck Baldwin, Oct 4, 2008, JBS 50th Ann.

I agree...Vote Chuck Baldwin.
the "I think you're crazy" song just came on the radio...ahhhh...it brought a chuckle to my mind. :)
Mom / Wife / Teacher / Christian for Ron Paul
Don't want to start an argument but...
Chuck Baldwin isn't religious. He has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that is the reason for the the integrity and honesty you are witnessing.
DO NOT equate his faith with what you have been exposed to in the mainstream. I will not name names but I think you get my drift.
DO equate his faith with the same faith Dr. Paul embraces.
Their walks are identical because of this common, eternally important, fact.
Lyn Nofziger Quote from speech:
I want to leave you with a quote, Lyn Nofziger, as you know, Lyn was a press secretary in Ronald Regan's administration, while he was Governor of California, and then in the White House, and Lyn passed away here, not too long ago. But he wrote something several years ago that I just love, and I want to share it with you tonight. He titled this, These things I believe, by Lyn Nofziger;
These things I believe:- That government should butt out.
- That freedom is our most precious commodity and if we are not eternally vigilant, government will take it all away.
- That individual freedom demands individual responsibility.
- That government is not a necessary good but an unavoidable evil.
- That the executive branch has grown too strong, the judicial branch too arrogant and the legislative branch too stupid.
- That political parties have become close to meaningless.
- That government should work to insure the rights of the individual, not plot to take them away.
- That government should provide for the national defense and work to insure domestic tranquility.
- That foreign trade should be fair rather than free.
- That America should be wary of foreign entanglements.
- That the tree of liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
- That guns do more than protect us from criminals; more importantly, they protect us from the ongoing threat of government.
- That states are the bulwark of our freedom.
- That states should have the right to secede from the Union.
- That once a year we should hang someone in government as an example to his fellows.

I'm not religious, I listened to Baldwin's speech with caution;
However, after listening to and understanding every word he said, I know that Baldwin will diligently defend the Constitution, and that is what is most important.
Here are some related quotes from Chuck Baldwin in his JBS speech:
"It doesn't really matter what a politician's personal denominational affiliation might be, or what his Christian profession might be, what matters is that he or she supports, protects, and defends the Constitution of the United States of America." - Chuck Baldwin
"...I mean it with all of my heart. I would rather elect an unbeliever, who will preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, than a believer who will not preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. The oath of office is to the Constitution." - Chuck Baldwin
"Some have tried to paint me as being some kind of a theocrat, who wants to establish some kind of a dogma; I'm going to go to the White House and I'm going to demand that the people worship the way I worship, etc, etc, and they use that to belittle my campaign. And, people that understand anything about Chuck Baldwin know, that I believe with all my heart and soul, that either we have religious liberty for all, or we have not religious liberty for any." - Chuck Baldwin
"If you choose not to worship at all, that is your decision. It is none of the government's business, how we worship, to whom we worship, and when we worship, it is the job of the government to secure your rights to worship any way you see fit. That is our job as elected leaders." - Chuck Baldwin

Well, I'm guilty. I should have listened all the way to the end and my question would have been answered.

It's funny how Ron Paul has over 4000 views and Baldwin has only 150.

Wow, I listened to the
whole thing it was outstanding. You can tell he is a student of Dr. Paul I am so glad I voted for him.
RED FLAG
as a Christian who keeps the seventh day Sabbath, I was greatly concerned about his comment on Sunday observance being part of the Constitution. Sunday laws have been very discriminatory in the past and we are concerned that they will be again. I do not like the sound of what he said and I would like some clarification on this. I have emailed his campaign but I want to know what he meant. Sunday laws should never be legislated but he is implying that they could be constitutional. I am getting the creeps!

Hold on! I carefully listened to his speech.
What he said is that the Constitution does respect Sunday worship, and in fact, it does.
What Chuck Baldwin actually said;
"The Constitution says in Article I, Section 7, paragraph 2; If any bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) -- the U.S. Constitution exempts Sunday, the Lord's day, the day that Christians set aside to worship Jesus, from being a legal business day."
That is a fact, the Constitution does exempt Sundays. He was merely pointing out that the Constitution does have references in it to God.
Now if you listened to the rest of Baldwin's speech you would also have learned that Chuck Baldwin is for religious freedom above and beyond anything else - he would never tell anyone what to do on Sunday and does not think the government has any right to do so either.
From the same speech;
"If you choose not to worship at all, that is your decision. It is none of the government's business, how we worship, to whom we worship, and when we worship, it is the job of the government to secure your rights to worship any way you see fit. That is our job as elected leaders." - Chuck Baldwin

my 2 cents
here is the section he is talking about. article 1 section 7 paragraph 2
"Every bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a law, be presented to the President of the United States; if he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the objections at large on their journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the bill, it shall be sent, together with the objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a law. But in all such cases the votes of both Houses shall be determined by yeas and nays, and the names of the persons voting for and against the bill shall be entered on the journal of each House respectively. If any bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a law, in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their adjournment prevent its return, in which case it shall not be a law"...........
when i read it it sounds like it only pertains to the number of days the president has to return the bill, this doesnt affect local laws which i believe is the discriminatory laws your refering to. this doesnt bother me. the president gets 11 days instead of ten(its a day off). i think chuck was making the point that the constitution does have wording in it that recognizes biblical teachings for those who claim it is completely secular. hope this clarifies it for you. let me know what you all think.
I do not fear death, I fear life without liberty.
Exactly, I posted above before reading yours.

That sounds better
If that is how he meant it. I was concerned he was saying that the Constitution recognized the sacredness of Sunday. I couldn't believe it because of all of the other great things he has said about protecting religious liberty. It was disconcerting to me because as a Sabbath keeper a prophetic belief we have is that the antichrist will enforce Sunday laws. I know that sounds weird but think of all of the religious kooks (like Huckabee) that would do something like that.
Thanks for the clarification.

Sunday Laws would be awesome...
Do you like working on sunday? Don't you think we could give the retailers, waitresses, etc one break a week from the parasitical consumer?
You have no idea
You have no idea what you are saying. The laws are extremely oppressive. Have you ever lived where there were Sunday laws? People are persecuted if they do not go to church. If you want to wash your car in Germany right now, for example, on Sunday; you will be fined. I mean, come on. We are talking violation of civil liberties in a big way. These are the things that we are fighting about right now.

Bump for the Sabbath!
As a sabbath-believing Mormon, now I have two issues to be troubled about. Well, I guess he is closer to my beliefs than anyone else who's a candidate in my state.
I don't get why he would have to bring that up.....

See my post above for exactly what he said about Sunday.
He was not saying that the government should force people to worship on Sunday - that is the last thing Chuck Baldwin would do since he is a firm believer in religious freedom.
He was making a point that there were references to God in the Constitution, and the Sunday exemption was one of the two references that he used, that is all.
Since you are LDS, I thought I might share this quote from his speech that sort of relates too (I typed a few of them while watching);
"Some of the largest support that we have received here in the last several months, has come from the LDS community out in the western states. I toured much here several weeks ago, and went through the entire state of Utah and campaigned. And, we have a lot of support there among the Mormon community. And, obviously we have theological differences, but that's not the point, the point is, as Americans, we have the freedom to worship as we see fit, or to not worship at all. And, that is a sacred principle in this country, and that is one I feel very, very convinced about." - Chuck Baldwin

Awesome
Thank you very much for that. I did not listen to the speech (yet), so I was merely reacting to the comments here. I should have known that Chuck would not be advocating a return to Blue laws.
When I saw on Chuck's itinerary a few weeks ago that he was campaigning in Utah, my heart was also set at ease. I do not know how much some folks here know about the inner workings of the Constitution Party, but there have been some people in the party who have been working very hard to make the party some sort of a Reconstructionist Christian party. Some active party members have tried to oust any Catholic and Mormon involvement in the party, which was unsettling to me, who first joined the USTP (now CP) in 1994. I know Howard Phillips never envisioned the party becoming a vehicle for theocracy, but there is a submovement within the CP that would like it to be that (just as there is in the GOP).
Anyhow, thanks so much, sempiternal, for the additional info.
I can't wait to vote for Chuck next month. He's a good guy.

Exactly, and I am Jewish,
Exactly, and I am Jewish, and voting for Chuck. He was just quoting what it does say in the Constitution. Some day we can amend it to make it Saturday AND Sunday..but unless you are in Congress, it does not affect you. So wait to change it til you get there..we have much more important things on our plate right now. In fact of the matter, the 7th day "He rested" could be 100 years in God time..
Really..
Funny thing.. I'm raised catholic and am thinking about Nader? Even tho I'll most likely vote for Baldwin cause of how close he and Pauls are in ideas..
Also Nader has only begun to speak about the constitution since the Unity Pac..
