2.60 west iowa.

they

are still gouging in Massachusetts. I spoke to a station owner and he said this is the most he ever made as an owner this month. He is making .25 cents per gallon

hahahaa

don't let them kid you, they often make way more than that.

Stock up, it's gonna be a long winter.

...and sometimes they don't.

It depends on what they paid for the inventory versus what they can sell at.

It's one of the reasons for the slow price drop. Unless they are moving a LOT of fuel, the Gas you are buying at the pump today was bought from the refiners at a higher price in previous days/weeks.

(Not that I'm crying for them -- It works the opposite way when pump prices rise -- they get to sell stuff they bought cheap days/weeks ago at a much higher prices and profit margins).

Many of our stations are still running out of gas.

$3.49 East of Raleigh, NC

I bought gas today for $3.49 and all the stations (4) in this small town were the same price.

Paid $3.99 today for regular 87 octane

this is in Stokesdale, NC.

The station I was at only had Regular Unleaded. No super/premium at all. Across the street, Citgo has NO GAS. It's bizarre. Other stations closer to Greensboro have gas it seems.

My wife is driving cross country and she says some places are under $3.00

Time to fight back

!

General rule of thumb

You take the Nymex gasoline price (currently $1.97/gal) and add $0.60 for delivery and taxes, and that should be your price. It should vary by state and by area (distance from refinery) but it generally holds pretty true.

As far as why the prices aren't there...we're being screwed a little. When the wholesale price jumps today, the pump reflects it tomorrow...when the wholesale price drops, it creeps down very slowly. It's very common, that a station owner increases prices when he gets an increase, but only decreases it when the station across the street does so.

Some areas are very close to $2.57 already, which would be the true average price. Louisville is still $3.25. Indianapolis is $2.80's

$2.96 Cash price here in north NJ

Sometimes it pays to live next to a refinery.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Gas Prices...

Let me play devils advocate for a minute:

Many local gas stations have had to 'eat' most of their profit margin this past year. A few weeks of this cheap oil and high prices might encourage the owners to stay in business a little longer.

My friend owned 4 gas stations. Earlier this year he sold 3. Now, because the bailout passed, he is planning on selling his last one. He has lost half of his savings this past couple of months and unfortunately (for consumers), I think he is trying to make it back while he still can...

Needless to say:

I wont buy gas from the prick when I can go 5 minutes down the road and get it .42 cents cheaper.

Real good friend

you are.

It Depends

It depends on where you are. Here in the Rio Grande Valley of deep south Texas regular is going as cheap as $2..69. It will probably drop some more.

Remember that you can't figure a strict proportion between crude and finished product, because the taxes are a constant.

Upstate SC still has a gas shortage

Saw it for 3.40 and there were about 40-50 cars waiting. Where it's available is $3.70-4.00/ gal.

What goes up does not

What goes up does not necessarily want to go back down. Remember the sugar shortage scam under Carter? The price of sugar went through the roof due to a fake shortage. Funny thing, it never went back to anywhere near previous prices.

Yeah right.

Yeah right.

It's going to hit $200 soon.

It's going to hit $200 soon. This is only a temporary downward spiral.

Our local TV station this morning

RonPaulLincoln
showed a place in the northeast with $1.99 a gallon and it was not a promotion. Kingman, AZ prices about $3.14 ish

The price of gasoline

The day-to-day price of gasoline at the pump in the US depends on quite a bit more than the price of crude oil. There are much bigger things to be concerned about right now. Move along. There's nothing to see here.

Things that make up the price of gas

It isn't that simple. Remember the price of oil is dropping but the dollar is dropping as well. And there are plenty of other costs involved in gas. Remember when oil was $20 a barrel? Gas was around $1. By your logic $140 oil should mean $7 gas.

What's funny is when Oil was 140.00/barrel that was the reason..

given for the higher price. NOW that it is falling, we are told the price depends on many factors...scammers!!!

Temporary pleasure

Saw this in the news this morning, and Googling "gas price $3" brings up a lot of reports on the phenomenon.

Here's one: Gasoline Below $3 May Be Coming Soon -- excerpt:

The Energy Information Administration's official forecast, released Tuesday, predicts prices at the pump will average $3.56 a gallon this year and in 2009.

The price of crude is expected to climb back up to $120 a barrel by April and average $112 a barrel through 2009, the agency said.

But those projections were based on economic forecasts from mid-September. The financial crisis that helped send the Dow Jones industrial average down another 508 points Tuesday has economists rethinking their assumptions.

Those wacky economists. They have a lot of assumptions to rethink.

Gas sure hasn't fallen below $3 (or even close) here in CA, but even if the barrel price does go way down, my guess would be it's a slingshot pose, to be followed with a skyrocketing price.

Nashville 3.69

per gallon

Gas prices

$2.83 in Akron, Ohio area (according to my sister) but still $3.15 here in northern Virginia.

I've been saying this for

I've been saying this for days now.

I'm thinking about reporting to the State Attorney General for price gouging.

Denver/Boulder is still between 3.30 - 3.40

Yeah no kidding.

Who do we ask about this?

Dunno, but don't get too

Dunno, but don't get too accustomed to it staying at $84. It will begin skyrocketing again soon, due to hyperinflation.
